Yu Yan was asked by the lady in charge of the orphanage, Madam Yin, to find all the children and gather them up for dinner. She gathered most of them, but realised almost half of the children were missing, including her sister, Yu Xiao. She looked around thinking of where they might be and realised she hadn't checked in the garden. She quickly walked towards the garden and heard shouting. She rushed over to see what all the commotion was about and saw her younger sister lying in the floor.
She was surrounded by the rest of the orphans children as they continually kicked Yu Xiao and screamed harsh words at her. No one has realise Yu Yan's presence. She was feared in the orphanage because of you made so much as as one wrong move towards her, she would ruin your life. That was not what the children were most scared of, it was the fact that she did it discreetly and no one ever found out. If someone did, they would immediately fall to her side once she gave them a warm smile and acted as though she was trying to hold back her tears.
Yu Yan stormed down the stairs and the children snapped their heads towards the sound. Their face's paled as hey recognised Yu Yan. Yu Xiao lay balled up and looked battered.
"What do you think you are doing to my sister!" Yu Yan snarled, thick venom coating every word.
"We did nothing!"
"It was an accident!"
"Please forgive us!"
"It was a mistake!"
Yu Yan scoffed at their pathetic attempts to escape their punishment. Some of the children were older and taller than her but that didn't faze her as her raging anger was too strong. She charged towards the boy in the middle who seemed to still find something amusing as a smile danced upon his lips. She pulled him down by his hair and swung her fist at his face. A panicked look spread across his face but it was too late. He fell to the ground and groaned in pain. Yu Yan quickly spotted a girl with blonde hair trying to sneak off.
"Run away and I'll make things ten times harder for you!" Yu Yan calmly stated.
The girl stopped in her tracks and slowly turned around, her head hung in shame. Yu Yan clicked her tongue, while thinking of a suitable punishment. The look in the children's eyes could only be described so pure fear. Suddenly, a worthy idea lit in her head. Yu Yan smirked, raising her eyes to meet the children but no one dared challenge her.
"You will all do my, Yu Xiao and the rest of the children's chores for the week." She stayed before falling to the ground. Tears sprung from Yu Yan's eyes and the children looked at each other, confused. In the distance, Yu Yan could hear Madam Lin calling and got ready to stage her innocence. Although, she was partly innocent she had still committed some wrong doings. Once Madam Lin had arrived, she took in the scene before her and let out an exaggerated gasp. She hurriedly rushed over to Yu Yan and Yu Xiao. Looking up with disgust in her yes she yelled:
"Extra chores for all of you and no games or TV for a month!"
"But..." A girl started off.
Yu Yan raised her eyes that gleamed with vengeance and glared at her. She immediately shut he mouth, looking away.
"Madam... It's Ok. Please don't punish them..."Yu Yan began, innocently. Madam Lin looked down her eyes softening before whispering: "Yu Yan...I understand that you are kind and warm hearted but what they have done deserves punishment." She looks at the the children who were guilty, a cold look sweeping over her eyes. She tuts her tongue in disgust before helping Yu Xiao and Yu Yan up. Yu Yan partly got up to make things easier for Madam. Yu Yan looks back smirking in satisfaction.
Madam leads them Yu Yan and Yu Xiao to the medical room and sits there inspecting Yu Xiao wounds. Yu Xiao had passed out form the intense moment and Yu Yan looked at her from across the room, gritting her teeth in disgust for the people who dared touch her sister. Yu Xiao has through enough, she had a failing kidney and heart problems. Tears sprung from Yu Yan's eyes and she furiously wiped them away. Madam Lin came beside her and gave Yu Yan a comforting arm hug.
Madam Lin moved away and reached for some bandages which she used to wrap around Yu Yan's bruised and battered arms. Once Madam Lin had finished treating her arm, Yu Yan crawled over to Yu Xiao and sobbed into the night. She prayed that everything would be alright. This may seem over exaggerated but with a weak and fragile body like Yu Xiao even the slightest touch could cause death.
Yu Xiao lfted her arm and stroked Yu Yan's hair gently. Yu Yan looked up shocked.
"Hey big sister." Yu Xiao spoke, croakily.
"Don't ever go anywhere without me again, promise?" Yu Yan asked Yu Xiao as she held out her pinky finger.
"Promise." Yu Xiao said linking their fingers together.
Little did the sisters know that within a few week or even day, that promise would no longer be fulfilled as one of the sister would be going far away. Yu Yan and Yu Xiao held onto each other until the next day when the news would be released...
