Those two days flashed by far too quickly for her liking, before she knew it she had finished up her final briefing with the soldiers and ensured the last of the town folk had been evacuated. It was the eve before the final battle. Everybody was spending this evening with their loved ones, of course she was no exception. Her gaze fell on the man who had just finished bathing, and stepped into the room.
"Hey, the bath is free now."
Lyn's gaze however fell on Rhy's muscular chest. In the end she is still a normal girl. How can she possibly not like what she is seeing?
Hmm, since this is the night before the huge battle and their second wedding ceremony, shouldn't something special happen?
"Lyn?"
Lyn points to the spot on the bed beside her. She thought he would sit down immediately but to her surprise he takes a seat on the couch.
"What are you doing?"
"Guarding myself. Do you know what your eyes look like right now?"
"What?" Lyn said innocently.
"Like a predator that is about to eat up it's prey. My life will be in danger if I go over there."
Lyn pouted hearing those words. What is she, a monster? It was almost like he understood what she was thinking, since he suddenly came over. He sits at the edge of the bed and Lyn closed the distance between them.
"I wonder what I should do about you being so bold now. Surely, I can't be the one who corrupted you."
Indeed, it isn't his fault this time. If it were the past him then she could blame him. But the present Rhys has been nothing but a gentleman.
"I think your beauty corrupted me."
Who asked him to be this handsome? It's unfair!
Then again she never knew that she liked handsome faces until she met Rhys. A handsome face and a body that belonged to a god, of course she can't help but have odd thoughts.
Rhys laughs and cups her cheeks. "I see, but should you have stayed with me tonight? What about Kazuya?"
Lyn sighs. "You have no tac."
What is he doing mentioning Kazuya now? This is the night before the final battle, they should make some memories together just in case they fail.
"Sorry, are you upset?"
"Just a little." Lyn trails off. "Kazuya said the other knights were throwing a big party and they'd stay with him tonight."
"I almost forgot that half the regular knights are made up of the squires who used to guard you as a Princess."
"Exactly, so he will be in good hands."
"Aren't you being too heartless?"
Lyn shakes her head. "I asked him first if he wanted to be with me or go with them, and he chose them."
Rhys sighs hearing her explanation. "You should know by now what Kazuya's personality is like."
Of course she knew, had she said she wanted to be with him, he would have been delighted. But because she didn't chose him directly, of course Kazuya understood that she wanted to be with Rhys.
"I know I am being unfair, but I don't want to lie to myself anymore. I think lying would be unfair on the three of us."
"You've truly grown up now." Rhys kisses her forehead. "But, I think you should rest your body tonight. Tomorrow's fight will be a long one."
She frowns at Rhys words. This isn't going the way she thought she would. From the moment she said she would pick him to spend the night with, he hasn't looked happy at all. Instead he seemed to be in deep thought about something.
No good, it seems like she has to make a move. But, she has never truly taken the initiative in this relationship before. Had Rhys not confronted her directly about her feelings and courting her again, she may have just continued watching him silently until the final battle.
First step, get Rhys on the bed. Wonderful, he is on the bed with her now. But there is this awkward silence. She thought it was obvious what she wanted when she said she would spend the night with him, but he isn't doing anything.
Rhys let's go of her cheeks and rubs the back of his neck awkwardly. "So, correct me if I am wrong. I know your eyes say you want to pounce on me, but until I hear it directly from you, I won't make a move."
Lyn looked at him blankly for a few minutes. Oh, that's right, this is the type of person Rhys is now. He won't do anything without her permission.
She wonders if this is because of what their past relationship was like. Is it because back then he was impulsive and touched her all the time with no restraint? Lyn truly felt flattered that he was being so considerate and reflecting on his past mistakes. But, sometimes he overdoes it.
During moments like this, it's okay to do whatever he wants. Tomorrow is the final battle after all, the day before the final battle is special. They could die tomorrow, so they should make some memories with their loved ones. Surely Rhys knows this!
Does she truly have to be the one who does something here?
"I want you to touch me." Lyn said after much debating.
The night will be over if she waits for him, and she truly wants to spend the night with him properly.
At those words Rhys leans closer. "You know, you said those words so easily but your face is so red."
"If you have a problem with my face, you don't have to look at me."
Rhys laughs. "If I had a problem with your face Lyn, do you think I'd still be here?"
True, if he had any issue with her. He wouldn't have agreed to spend the night with her. He could have easily gone to anybody else. Even though everybody knows about her relationship with Rhys. There are still so many who want to sleep with him.
If he walked into the servant quarters now and said he was available tonight, she knew so many girls would throw themselves at him. Lyn sighs. Rhys being too popular with women is a problem. She could already imagine what their married life would be like.
