Before he could say anymore Lyn stirs awake.
"Rhys?" Lyn mumbled.
The light in the girl's eyes had returned and her face was no longer flushed red.
His gaze fell on the girl in his arms and he gently kissed her forehead. "Sorry for knocking you out."
It takes the girl a few minutes to register what happened and she turned to Raven, clearly upset.
"Raven you-" Lyn seemed shocked.
"Hmmm, I think I know what you want to tell me. But you should explain it to him first. If you need me I'll be in the tower Queen Lyn."
Lyn quickly left his arms and tugged on Raven's cloak.
"I-"
"I'm not angry. I will see you later." Raven quickly tapped her forehead and exited the room.
Rhys was still staring at the empty space in his arms, surprised that she had left just like that to chase after Raven. It was only when Lyn was in front of him, holding his hands did he snap out of his daze.
"Sorry." Lyn apologised. "When he showed up, I thought it would be a good chance for me to tell him that we should stop. I didn't think he would do that."
Of course that thought would never cross her mind. When Lyn trusts people, she truly trusts them from the bottom of her heart and doesn't believe they will harm her. Raven probably didn't intend to hurt her but he knew it was the end.
"Raven won't harm me on purpose. I think he was upset."
"Yeah, he must really like you."
Lyn wrapped her arms around his neck, and kissed him. "But, you're the one I like."
"Just like?" Rhys jokes.
"I really, really love you." Lyn whispered in his ear. "My beloved."
Rhys felt his heartbeat speed up hearing those words. Now that he thought about it, she often called him that in the past. It seems she is gradually becoming more comfortable behaving like she did before.
"It seems the grain of sand has increased."
Lyn laughs. "It seems so."
Rhys bends down and kisses her deeply, subconsciously he was kissing her more passionately than he intended.
"Rhys? You're a bit-".
"Sorry, can we continue this on the bed?"
Lyn nodded and Rhys carried her onto the bed, as he continued kissing her. All he did was kiss her but after a few minutes both of them were out of breath. Rhys gently pressed his lips to her forehead and told Lyn that she did good.
"I'm sorry if I'm acting strange." Rhys apologized. "But, I-"
"I know you're jealous of Raven."
"You get along with him." Rhys commented.
It's not just a simple case of getting along, Lyn cares more about this person than he thought. Moreover, the man's identity as a high ranking noble bothered him. A high ranking noble who is good at magic. He truly felt like he was being challenged.
"We are good friends."
"I see."
"Please trust me. I intended to break it off with him even before you returned. Maybe he realised this and that's why he went travelling. "
Rhys still didn't know how to reply. He doesn't understand why he is so bothered by this person. It's true that guy being a high level mage and high ranking noble feels like a direct challenge to him. But, if that guy was stronger he would have noticed. Moreover, he recalls his brother's words.
'You are still a Prince.'
When his brother took over the throne, they reinstated his title as a Prince. Even though he said he had no need for it, they insisted. Indeed, with the royal title. It would be possible for him to be with Lyn properly.
'I feel stupidly insecure even though my status and strength surpasses Raven. Moreover Lyn got together with a guy that resembled me because she missed me.'
His thoughts break off when Lyn changed their positions so the girl was on top of him. She stared at his face for a few seconds before attacking his face with kisses.
"H-hey- stop-" Rhys trailed off cheeks red.
Whenever she gets like this, his heart feels like it would leap out of his chest.
Lyn laughed. "I don't want to stop."
This girl keeps doing such dangerous things. If it were the past him he would have jumped on her already. But, the present is different from the past. He wants to treasure and respect her. Rhys gently caresses her hair and a content sigh escapes Lyn's lips as she lay on his chest.
For the next few minutes neither of them said a word and just enjoyed a moment of peace.
"Rhys." Lyn mumbled as she suddenly sat up and he did the same.
"Hmm?"
"About Raven..I was thinking maybe he will know what to do about your eye." Lyn suggested.
Rhys frowned. He doesn't want to ask that guy for help at all. But, initially he had wanted Raven to help after hearing the rumors of how skilled he was.
"My beloved." Lyn mumbled. "Do you not trust me?"
"I trust you." Rhys nuzzled his forehead against hers.
Lyn laughs. "That tickles..."
Rhys squeezed her hands before gently kissing her fingers. "Today, I shall be busy. But my work is around the castle."
Lyn flung her arms around him and kissed him. "So, you'll still have lunch with me?"
"I shall."
"That's great."
She really does look pretty. Rhys continued to let Lyn kiss him.
"Rhys." Lyn mumbled against her lips. "I really don't want you to misunderstand about Raven, okay?"
"It's just, I have mixed feelings." Rhys admitted.
He didn't want to lie to her, even if it made him seem petty. Kazuya aside, if it was Kazuya maybe it would be okay. But, another guy? Somebody he didn't know at all?
"You don't have to feel inferior. You are so much better."
"That sounds very vague."
"You're more talented, strong and good looking." Lyn clarified.
His lips curved to a smile hearing the last line. "So, you are fond of my appearance?"
Lyn blushed and she averted her gaze. "I don't like it when you speak like this, I feel like I am being tricked."
Rhys cupped her cheeks. "Didn't I already say this is an elaborate plan to get you to like me more?"
"Oh you." Lyn giggled. "Rhys, I have the morning off today and I was thinking of checking on Kazuya and watching the knights train. Do you wish to join me?"
"Sure."
He has never seen all the knights gathered together training. It would do him some good to see their capabilities.
