Chapter 1 - The Bomb That Destroyed Hiroshima

Hideki sat on a pile of rubble, staring at the ground, blocking all noise that is around him. 'How has it come to this,' Hideki thought to himself, 'Hiroshima is gone, my home... is now gone.' Hideki started cry with fear, 'My family are gone; I don't even know if I've got any family outside of Hiroshima.' Hideki continued. Whenever he looked up to see what was happening, Hideki started to panic and breathed exceptionally fast. All around Hideki was rubble, a few grieving people and lifeless bodies scattered all over the place. Hideki couldn't believe how much damage that a bomb can do to a place and how badly it would effect people.

One Day Earlier

Hideki woke up to the bright sunshine glistening through the blinds. He could feel the warmth of the sun, he could hear the the birds chirping away and the rustling of the cherry blossom trees. He could smell the food that his dear grandmother was making. Hideki got out from his bed and headed down to the kitchen.

"Konnichiwa, Grandmother." Hideki said, delighted.

"Ah, Hideki! Nice to see you on this fine morning." Grandmother said, happily.

Hideki asked, "What are you making for breakfast, Grandmother?"

"I'm making your favourite, miso shiru." Grandmother replied.

"Yes! It's been so long since I've had it!" Hideki's mother and father headed out to work. Hideki's mother said, "Bye everyone, have a great day."

Hideki, his sister, Sayu, and their Grandmother waved them off to work.

Hideki gets ready for work and as he was about to leave his Grandmother stopped him. "don't forget your bag!"

"Oh, thank you, Grandmother." replied Hideki, thankful.

"I will see you at lunch, Hideki." Grandmothed said as she waves him off to work.
