This is just a theory, but people who have recovered from long term sleep deprivation, are able to withstand the symptoms of alcohol much better.
Due to the fact that sleep deprivation results in a person being in a constant state of drunkenness, they'll almost certainly develop a tolerance towards it.
Just for reference I took a reaction speed test every once in a while whilst drinking self-made cocktails. As a baseline, my reaction speed averaged at 180 ms.
20 minutes later, it was at 197.
Another 30 minutes and it was at 201.
Another 20 minutes and it was at 206.
And that's basically where it peaked and also where I stopped the alcohol consumption.
By this time I had invested roughly 400 ml of... water containing 37.5% alcohol volume.
45 min later it was a 209.
The scores were always the average of the first 5 tries. These times are however also dependent on hardware as worse hardware would result in worse times. They're also highly volatile as reaction speeds are very hard to keep extremely consistent.
These numbers have further cemented my belief that I'm able to suppress the affects of alcohol if I so desire.
