When it comes to bargaining, information is key. Letting the seller know you're very interested in a certain item is a huge mistake. This is where misdirection comes into play. First you'll need to feign interest in a different item only to "sadly" give up as it's outside your budget. Most sellers will then continue to persuade you to the pick another item if it's truly too far off. You'll then have to adapt your haggling strategy on a play by play basis.
