"Dheer, please plant a tree on my grave after I die. I want to give something to mother nature in return for nourishing me all these years" Rudra finally found his voice back after they left the room. His eyes, teary.
"What the hell are you saying?" Dheer frowned.
"Did you see ducky's face when she looked at me? She is going to skin me alive tonight. Don't know if I will be able to see the sunrise tomorrow T_T"
"Don't overreact. My ducky… I mean my wife is too cute and soft-hearted to do this to her best friend" Dheer said, glancing at Rudra with the corner of his eyes.
"Then you still don't know her. Someday you will regret not believing my words of wisdom. I am going to ask Sandy to save me. Bye!" Rudra wiped his non-existent tears from his cheeks and headed towards his cabin.
Dheer just shook his head at his antics and went ahead to check the new surveillance system that he secretly installed in the hospital to find the moles working for the trafficking gang.
At the end of the day, Adi was awestricken by Anaya's skills as a doctor. He felt extremely blessed to be able to work under her, feeling excited about all the knowledge that he could gain from her. The thing that impressed him the most was her excellent work ethic and swore to follow in her footsteps taking her as a role model.
After another tiring day at the hospital, Rudra and Anaya went to Dheer's apartment to have their dinner. After having a silent dinner, Dheer finally turned to them "I have installed a new surveillance system at the hospital secretly. Except for us only the police chief, who is leading other officers in the plan knows of this. It covers almost every corner of the hospital, including most of those blind spots that the older system could not, except for a few. I will tell you about those spots and make sure to avoid those in any case." Anaya nodded. "And about the rumors, don't worry they will clear up in a few days".
"But Dheer, you cannot do this. Didn't we decide to not budge from this plan no matter what? It's the only fastest way. If the rumors are cleared, how are we going to catch them?" Anaya asked with a frown.
"Who said that it's me who will suppress the rumors?" Dheer said with a smirk on his face, giving a knowing look to Rudra, whose mind was anyplace else but in the discussion. He was counting minutes in his mind left for his blissful life before Anaya threw her thunder on him. He was literally shivering which was completely ignored by the other two.
Seeing that his mind was elsewhere, Dheer did not bother his imagination world as he already knew it all and turned to the confused woman in front of her. "Today When Rudra was doing his morning rounds, he bumped into someone. Rudra felt something off and came to me. Then we checked the surveillance videos."
Dheer looked at Anaya with an evil smirk as he continued, "He seemed to know of all the blind spots of the hospital and mostly took those to move around. If not for the new system, we would have missed him. Looks like luck was on our side. In addition to that person, we were also able to identify one of their moles working at our hospital, all thanks to him. They were talking in one of those blind spots, which luckily were covered by the new system. "
"That's great" Anaya's eyes shone for a moment before it got replaced by confusion the next moment "But, what does that have to do with the rumors?"
"They were talking about investigating you and Rudra to prove the credibility of the rumors." They had installed the latest surveillance system created by Aisha's company which could record even the slightest sound along with the video.
"It means…." Anaya almost jumped on the sofa with excitement.
"It means they took the bait. Now we just have to keep an eye on that mole and take the next step of our plan when the time arrives. As for clearing the rumors, they will do the work for us after our next move." Dheer said with a grin.
"It's working!!!" Anaya finally could not hold herself and jumped at once and hugged Dheer, "It's working, Dheer. I can't believe it's working. I, Detective Anaya's plan is working. I am so brilliant. I just knew I had it in me. You know, if not for my dream of becoming a doctor, I would have been a detective. Now we will be able to catch those bad guys soon."
Dheer's entire body stiffened the moment Anaya hugged him. After a moment of shock, a sudden surge of delight filled him the next moment that he failed to register the pain that he felt the moment Anaya's head collided with his jaw when she suddenly hugged him. A foolish grin soon replaced all the other emotions from his face while he hugged her back.
However, the bliss was short-lived for Dheer, as Anaya broke the hug after a few seconds and turned to Rudra and hugged him the next moment, " it worked Rudy... It's working. My plan is working.
This sudden hug jolted Rudra from whatever he was thinking. He was about to push his assailant, thinking that she was already carrying out her punishment, but her excited words stopped him. A smile appeared on his face when he saw his ducky like this. He hugged her back. This was his ducky. The real ducky who was lost somewhere after that incident five years ago.
'Maybe this whole situation was not that bad as I thought it was. It is bringing out her true self little by little. God, please don't let this smile of her's disappear again.' Rudra prayed as he looked up while hugging her.
