"Hello"
"Good afternoon Anaya" came the voice.
"Good afternoon Rehan. I really didn't expect your call and that too at this hour.
Any problem? Is Elisa fine?" she asked, concerned.
"Oh, yes. Don't worry, she's super fine and I called you at this hour because I know that you usually take a break at this time. I hope I didn't disturb you."
"No, you didn't. So why did you call me?"
"Ummm actually, I wanted to talk to you. I have something to tell you. Can you please come to the cafe near your hospital. I am waiting."
"Sure. I was about to grab a lunch anyways. Can you please order something for me as I arrive."
"Sure, what would you like to have?"
After ending the call Anaya headed straight towards the cafe.
About forty-five minutes later, Anaya stepped out of the cafe with Rehan after having a talk with him.
"Think about it, Anaya."
"I will, but I still think it's not right."
"Don't worry about that. It's totally right and I hope you'll agree. And remember that it's a secret between us for now".
" I really don't understand why we have to hide it from others. I mean they have the right to know. Especially, Anshika "
"No more questions. Don't mull over these menial questions and just think about the pros of this offer. I hope to get a positive response from you"
Anaya gave him a sincere smile and said "Thank you Rehan".
"No problem, just treat Elisa when we will have a baby. After all, I'm sure you'll become the best gynecologist in the country, by then. So I'm taking your appointment in advance, Dr. Anaya" Rehan winked.
******* Dheer's apartment*******
After dinner, Dheer and Anaya settled down in the living room to discuss the Case.
"So?? What did you want to tell?" asked Anaya.
"It's about the case. We think that some doctors are involved too. I mean there's no way that the nursing staff along could carry out such a task without the help of a doctor. It's just an assumption right now but the officers have begun to investigate the bank details of every staff working in the hospital."
"I think so too. I mean to operate on so many patients without letting the doctors know, something seems fishy. Actually, I too wanted to talk to you about this. I have a doubt on Dr. Veer. I am not sure and neither do I have any evidence but today when we were discussing a case he just gave off a weird vibe. Call it a woman's sixth sense at work. But he just... I mean. He is just....."
"I got it what you are trying to say." Dheer cut her midway when he saw she was struggling to find the right words. "You find him suspicious based on your instincts, right?"
"Yes, that's it. My instincts tell me that he has something to do with this case" Anaya finally find the right words.
"Noted. I'll ask the officers to keep a close eye on him. Good job detective" Dheer teased to which she giggled.
Hearing her giggle reminded him of her conversation with Dr. Shah today outside his office. He pondered for a while whether to ask her or not but finally gave in to his curious mind.
"You seem close to Dr. Shah. You already knew him before coming here right?" He asked trying to be nonchalant about it. But only he knew how his mind was in an uproar ever since he heard that conversation.
Anaya's face reddened as she remembered today's incident. "Yes, he was a professor at our college when I was a student. And his wife is my mentor. So I'm pretty close to them. I respect them a lot and they mean a lot to me" she turned serious as she said this. Then as if recalling something she asked "You heard our conversation, didn't you?"
Dheer raised an eyebrow "What do you think?"
Anaya gave an embarrassed laugh. "Don't take him wrongly. Dr. Shah is usually a strict person so his sense of humor is a bit weird"
"I don't think he was joking. Are you considering his offer?" he tried to sound as casual as he could.
She didn't know how to respond to this. She so wished to run away from here right now.
"He was just saying it" she really was embarrassed.
"Do you know his nephew?" he probed further. He just wanted to know what she thought about his potential rival. Knowing Dr. Shah's personality he was sure that he won't give up so easily and their situation made him more prone to the possibility of it happening. He had to take measures against this timely without hurting Anaya's feelings in the process.
