Chereads / A Demon named Mike / Chapter 13 - Teleportation attempt n°2

Chapter 13 - Teleportation attempt n°2

"AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!" SPLASH!

With a mighty, drenching unexpected dive, Mike and Kim found themselves in the ocean, about 10 meters from a white sandy beach that shone in the sunset behind them.

Luckily, Kim had appeared as she had been before they left, floating high above Mike's horns. That didn't stop the water from touching her as a very small hiss indicated that a few drops of sea had still managed to reach her fiery soul.

"Argh!!! What the Hell is that?! It burns! Wait… I burn! How can something else burn me? Mike! What did you do this time?!"

Kim panicked for a while, but otherwise seemed unscathed. The Demon didn't even hear a word she just said, and instead floated as best he could to the beach.

Swimming was not a lesson you learned in Demon School. Not even a doggy-paddle. The only thing that kept Mike above the water was the leftover black substance that Kim had let loose from the earth earlier. It was very buoyant for the little amounts that stuck to him.

After a good 20 minutes of terrified attempted doggy-paddling, Mike finally reached the sand and dropped dead on the loose granular ground.

The Demon sprawled out onto the beach, breathing hard, as his rather short life flashed before his eyes. At least the 3 seconds he was able to flash back to...

A yell from deep in the distance threw Mike back to reality, making him shoot up and look around.

"Oh my golly…"

To their shock, they were suddenly surrounded by a heaping flock of… Tribesmen! Dangerous, boar-headed, shameless, tribesmen! Oh, Devil!

But before we continue, another aparté is needed here. While our heroes get surrounded by a whole tribe of half-naked, armed, unpleasant people yelling in a language lost to all but them, it must be noted that Demons don't speak English. Or French. Not even a hint of German. Can you believe that? No, Demons speak Demon.

They just have some sort of Universal Translator buried deep into their subconscious or something that allows them to communicate with the people of this world.

Oh, and apparently Kim has it too. How convenient. And now, back to our story.

"Hold on! Hold on! Hold on! People of… What did you say this land is called?" Mike was no diplomat, but it didn't hurt him to try. He tried very hard, mind you.

There was a problem, however: these people were not angry at him for washing ashore on their land, but for the fact that their glorious realm of the sea was now just… Land.

A place that lived underwater for centuries was now but a mere dwelling for airbreathers and watersacks. Turns out when the huge earthquake shook the whole planet and moved some tectonic plates, it drove their ancient submerged habitat to the surface.
