Chapter 27 - The Aftermath

I let my head hang low as I formulated a plan. I also contemplated how I was going to get my Mom and me out of this place. Granted I don't have to fight with the neighborhood kids or worry about the sheriff being all over us for trying to make a living. It was peaceful and it was worth living.

Sighing to myself I finally get up off the floor and adjust my shirt in the mirror. Even though very select few know of my gender I still have to worry about appearances.

"Fuck" I whispered.

I was still pale but I looked better than I did earlier. Making sure everything was in place I left my room heading straight to the main hall. Marcos was immediately at my side he didn't say anything just walked beside me.

"Gather every single perimeter guard that was working this evening and have them brought to the main hall. You will need to remember where your loyalty lies by the end of this night Marcos or it may be your last." I ordered frostily.

"Yes, Young Master." He replied.

He immediately left my side and hopefully did as he was told. Smirking I hurried through the maze to reach the main hall. It was empty save Gangsa who was standing behind the only chair in the room. I only glanced at him before sitting down resting my head on my left hand.

Deep in thought I stared off at a painting on the wall as hurried footsteps rushed into the hall. I waited for the silence to become deafening before looking across all of the men and women who were on perimeter duty. I see a lot of them with their head lowered and some standing at attention. Taking a slow deep breath I stand up placing my hand in my pocket.

"Tonight's incident has showed me that you all do not value me as your leader. That your training has been insufficient. I want to know how and why the assassin slipped passed you. Is there anyone missing from this evenings patrol Marcos?" I asked.

"There are no missing personnel and none injured, Young Master." Marcos announced.

"None missing and no injured. Wow, that is quite a feat to behold my friends. Considering I was nearly killed this evening. Who is in charge of patrol?" I said softly.

"I am Young Master." Said a short blonde man.

"State your name and length of time in this family." I growled.

" My name is Anthony Roth, been with the family for 3years." He replied.

"You should be addressing me as Young Master or sir! Are you hard of learning or do you not have any respect for me?" I roared.

I looked at him and he didn't seem interested in speaking to me. I turned away for a moment before I rushed in front of him and punched him square in the jaw. He went flying and many people scrambled to get out of the way. He landed on the floor and did not get up but looked at me with contempt. I adjust my sleeves and stepped away from him.

"You are hereby stripped of your title as perimeter Captian. Take him and show him what happens to people who do not listen or respect their leader and for nearly killing their superiors. If he has learned then he will be reduced to a helper until I see fit! If he chooses not to learn then leave no loose ends." I said calmly before heading to the chair.

"Parker!" Gangsa shouted.

I whip around and throw my knife dead center to Anthony's chest. I kept my face indifferent as Anthony collapsed and his blood pooled all over the floor. Tch, I turned back around and walked to the chair. I turned around and looked at the shock on everyone's faces.

"He chose his death. Do not cry for him. If anyone feels like his death was unjust then you will share his fate. I am the new leader of this family and I demand your respect. Everyone here who chooses to be loyal to me will need to go through more strenuous training. Starting tomorrow you will have 6 hrs to sleep and every other waking moment will be spent training and patrol. You will be provided nutritious foods and plenty of water. Anyone caught drinking before training and patrol will be punished with harsher training." I announced.

I looked around the room again and seen everyone looking straight with determination. I nodded and walked from the room. Going through the mazes and heading to my room. John stood to one side of my door and he looked concerned. I nodded to him and walked into my room closing the door on him.
