Chapter 9 - Grieving (part 2)

[15 minutes till lunch]

„Anthony we should go to the dining hall"

"Is it already this late?"

He closed his book and returned it to the book shelf.

"Then let's go."

I did the same. We walked to the dining hall. We encountered our father shortly before arriving.

"Greetings father" Anthony was first to greet him

I followed suit. "Greetings father."

"Good evening Anthony." He looked at him and nodded. As for me, I got a fleeting look.

-Hmph not even nodding at me, what is wrong with him. If I didn't want a father so dearly in my past live, I would already hate him. Hmph! –

We continued our way to the dinning hall, but my mood soured.

"Don't take it to heart. You just need to get to know him better and vice versa."

"Hahhh if you say so, I'll try."

We had dinner and afterwards went our separate ways. I returned to my room.

-So now some magic sensibility training. Zero set timer at 10 minutes. –

[Timer set.]

I sat on the bed and started the training. It is hard to stay concentrated and for the beginning I closed my eyes.

At the end of my training I felt some mana in the room.

-It's like blue grains of sand flow in the air. I guess that there are a lot of these mana grains, but I can hardly feel them. And I don't know why they are blue, ore why I know that thy are blue. Maybe because I always thought of mana as blue? Anyway, it helps me to sense it/them? So, I will just keep imagine them as blue grains swirling around in the air. I already us Accumulation all day around and rarely get a message from Zero, the last one is already quite some time back. It's more or less second nature to me by now. Charge on the other hand is rather difficult. I can't train it whenever I want, I first need to deplete mana or stamina so I can only train it after my dagger training in the morning. I should train mana sensibility whenever I need to wait so as not to waist any time. Then Zero summarize the facts stored about time and the time element. –

[---]

Zero started reciting, but as soon as my head hit the pillow, I got flooded with sorrow again and cried myself to sleep and didn't hear anything what Zero was saying.

***

-My weekly routine consisted of breakfast with Anthony (I guess he made an effort to be there when I was) than training (I found out that he had a personal trainer when he was my age, I am not envois sarcasms) he managed to spare um teach me once or twice a week, then a shower lunch alone and my lessons with Mr. Cacklemi. He mostly taught me the basics of the basics. Then going to the library training some mana use and listening to Zero telling me about time and the other elements (while sleeping doesn't work I need to pay attention). Then Anthony comes, we talk some (really not much I guess he isn't someone who likes to talk) then we ate dinner together. Afterwards I trained mana sensibility in my room and then I broke down and cried myself to sleep which gradually got better over time. In this fashion passed the time and now is about a week before my third birthday and I am really nervous because I still wasn't tested for my mental age. Not that I have enough data to safely fool, with whatever they test me (my only luck was that some maids have their children help them but they are about seven years old and that is quiet old for my use) I am so nervous I don't even dare to ask someone not that they'll test me then. Anthony did say that it isn't necessary to get tested it's just common in noble households. That doesn't help me much, but our father acts rather could towards me and dotes on him so maybe he isn't interested in me. I wonder why, it can't be because I'm a girl, right?

Mr. Cacklemi's lessons were all about the live as a noble from table manners to dance lessons even how to talk properly. There were no magic lessons expect that one about world mana probably to prevent me from doing something stupid, I probably would have if he wouldn't have told me about it and about the basic and evolved elements but that could be categories as basic knowledge a noble must have. I just hope that he'll teach me magic soon. I did study time, but it wasn't that easy, in the books was just some sloppy explanation about spatial amulets not much and the character for time mostly used in forging a spatial amulet. Space was the same. About sound was even less data. I had Zero collect some, but it had a hard time. So, I focused on studying the already discovered elements. That was a lot easier, especially with the knowledge of my past live I probably know more about the elements than most people here. Its more science related than imagined. I also got a lot better in mana sensing, by now I can fell a lot more mana grains than before. In the end I didn't really follow the order in which I made the list, but I didn't care to reorganize it I'll just do what I can and try to do everything I put on the list or remove it. It's not like I would get exp or something by completing them. –

Sunday afternoon in the library

-In the morning I trained with the daggers and used Charge I guess I got better but I'm still a far way from mastering it. It's also frustrating on how little data about the time and space element in this library is, I really need to visit a bigger one. I'm already quite good at using the basic elements. I also went on some Sundays to the forest to try some spells and I can even convince some world mana to make a spell work. Even though I need an eternity to do it. I'm also cautious not to do something dangerous, that lesson from Mr. Cacklemi really did prevent some disaster. –

The door opened

"Hello Anthony, by the way I wanted to ask you about my birthday present."

"Alright, I'll do my best to convince our father."

-We really grew close. –

"I want a spatial amulet."

He looked at me contemplating.

"Spatial containers are expensive, I'm not sure if I manage to convince father even for a small one."

"If it's to expensive than just take this and next birthday and give it to me on my fourth one."

"That could work I'll talk to him. I tried what you suggested about the wind magic, it solved my problem."

-Anthony is a genius only when it comes to weapons, in magic he's at best average. But because he loves reading, he's rather smart. Not like some muscle heads. –

"I'm glad I could help you."

With that our conversation ended, he took a book and started reading

-We really don't talk too much but I have the feeling that I could ask him about everting. I'm a rather talkative person so it is helpful to have someone who doesn't talk too much especially because I can't risk saying something I shouldn't. Back to studying, I need to get better at drawing the arrays and characters for each element. They are helpful in casting spells with world mana. Hehe I'm already so good that I don't need them when I use personal mana. Even though I can only use low level ones that are descripted in the books in this library and the ones I came up myself of which I don't know the difficulty level. –

In this world hand signs and arrays are used by beginners to help them cast spells and for complex spells which need a lot of concentration and energy. It helps with guiding the elements.

-There is also a way to pronounce them, but I dislike that, it just looks stupid to do that, I much prefer to just have some hand signs if needed. Nonetheless I will remember them. Just in case. -
