Chapter 4 - Chapter 4

It's been 9 years since we moved to Yafrenia.

Life has strange ways to lead us in all kinds of uncanny situations. I became a student here, at the royal academy in the capital of Yafrenia, my dad became a general under the demon king and my mom became a royal mage. Slimy grew a bit and the red color in the crown's gem became brighter, my training in both martial arts and magic went nicely. In school I kept a low profile and tried my best to fade in the mob as an average guy. Life went nicely, everything was well, and yet I still managed to do it once again.

I fucked up my life.

It all started last week when I saved a colleague of mine. She is the daughter of a knight family and boy, oh boy, pride sure is strong in her family. For the past week she's been following me around every where I go, thinking that she has to repay me in some way. And, just what is the problem in all this? The fact that she attracts the attention of everyone around us. I'm no longer a mob character and my chances of becoming one again are close to none. Why is that? Because everyone in the academy found out who my parents are and that lead to the current day.

I'm standing in the schools coliseum, in front of me is my opponent, the person that ranks first in school, Karin. She is the strongest swords-woman among the students and the military volunteers and also the elder sister of Yuri, my colleague. How did this happen? Well she seems to think that I'm forcing her sister to follow me around.

The agreement we made before entering the coliseum was that if she won, Yuri would stop following me and if I won I could order her to do one thing, any one thing. While the offer is tempting this fight does cause a few more problems than it should. If I win, I'll be looked at like I'm some sort of monster for doing as I please with a cute girl and if I lose, while I do get rid of a nuisance, the name of my family will be tainted by my weak self. No matter how you put it, it's still bad.

-Are we going to start or are we here just to waste time.[Karin]

This is bothersome, way too bothersome.

I clear my throat and prepare to speak. The pressure is way bigger than that of the fight, I'm talking with a girl my age for the first time since I came to this world. I can't let her realize how stressed I am. In the end the only thing I can do is having a very bland voice.

-Come.[Sora]

She ran towards me, sword still sheathed, apparently her specialty is Iaijutsu, which is a quick draw sword technique. She is fast and she has a powerful aura, there is no doubt that she trained relentlessly ever since she was a kid. But none of that matters.

I prepared myself and at the last second, after she drew her sword and almost reached my throat with it, I leaped back as far as I could. This put me out of the arena and into the spectators's area. The whole student body was present. Their cheers turned mute when they couldn't see me down there but among them, instead.

With this I am disqualified.

I didn't win nor did I lose in the eyes of the public.

I kept my family's honor and got rid of a nuisance.

Or, at least that's what I thought, my plan was ruined by one small thing. She followed me here, for her the fight is not over.

I think I might have made a mistake.
