Good god! Why am I only one left in this city who can't speak Japanese? And these damn Japanese people won't speak English. Great! Just too great! Now I had to learn Japanese on my own. Of course I can understand a very little of Japanese but can't speak. Am walking in the street of Tokyo of course it particularly doesn't have street system, making me daze I don't understand this block system. Hell, those Japanese letters on the board doesn't make any sense. The weather is dim, covered with clouds. The gusty wind hit my face gently making my reddish orange hair swim in the breeze. Good gracious! It makes no surprise for an outsider to get lost in this most puzzled city in the world. At least I should have listened to my mom's words. Lifting my head I reminded what my mom said. Damn! I saw a café. InFront of me. 'MIYABIKO CAFÉ'. It spelled. I saw the board again and saw my pocket which has 500 yen. Well, enough for me to buy a cup of coffee to flush out this dizziness. Sighing, I pushed the glass door and went inside. Everything here was peace and a monotonous music was played. The light here was dim. Just like the outside weather. Dull. I went towards the second couch near the window in the first row. I sat there just then a maid came towards me.
"Nani o chumon shitaidesu?"
"Watashiwa want coffee"
"Nani?" man! She doesn't understand English and I can't speak Japanese.
"Watashiwa" I motioned my hand "coffee" told her in Japanese slang
"Anatawa Cofi?"
"No Coffee" I said sounding more like Japanese.
"Cofti?"
"No, no coffee! Coffee!"
"Cope?"
"Man! Am telling you coffee not cope! You understand? coffee!"
"Ummn, copphi?"
"Its coffee! Coffee coffee!" she looked damned Blank.
I heard annoying laughter behind me. I slowly turned my head and saw a silhouette of a guy laughing throwing his head backward who was masked behind the shadow of the wall. Great. He caught me looking at him. He stopped his laugh and He walked towards us, stood in front of the maid.
"Kanojo wa kohi ga hoshi." He told her that I want coffee.
"Oh, coffee?" she said turning her towards me.
"Right, coffee." I said. She laughed and pronounced coffee in Japanese slang. That guy burst in laugh. Annoyed. She wrote the order.
"Sunimase!" she said, laughing she strode away. That guy was still laughing.
"Thanks for your help" I said. He stopped laughing.
"No problem! First time in Japan?" no second time. I thought.
"Yes."
"You are going to have lots of trouble then!" he said. I know that you dumb ass. I stared him. I can't figure his face out. It was all covered by the shadow of the dim lights. I can tell he was trying to figure out mine too. Just then I was about to tell 'I know' but his attention shifted. I turned my head where he was looking. A group of guys entered inside the cafe. Weirdly they all are wearing hood.
"See you lady!" he said and went towards them. One guy high-fived and the other guy pat his shoulder and the other guy told him something. He nodded his head and gazed at another guy. He gestured towards the couch. They all went towards third couch in second row. Just then my order came. Hot coffee. I took it and moved to the corner.
Everything was silence until I heard the crash of a glass. I flinched and quickly jerked my head. There he was grabbing the collar of a guy,
"Don't give me bull shit!" he cried. Another guy came forward and hit the guy who grabbed the collar. He fell. So his hood. He looked more aggressive in that group, he stood and punched in his stomach. He flew back and hit the couch. A maid ran towards them and insisted them to stop. But what's the point if they don't hear her voice? She grabbed the boy's arm he jerked her away and she fell on the floor. I stood and walked towards her.
"Are you okay?" I asked. Of course she didn't understand what I said.
"Anatawa diajobu?" (Are you okay?) I asked recalling known basic words. She nodded her head. She opened her mouth to say something but closed immediately and shook her head. Then she again opened her mouth.
"Please, stop-the-faito! (Fight)" she said. I starred her for a minute.
"Sure." I said. She smiled.
I walked towards them. They are shouting at each other. Of course, they didn't notice me until I slammed the table harder.
"Will, ya stop this hellish faito?" I said in bold voice. They all stood silence. Oh! Right these people are Japanese doesn't know English. They exchange the looks.
Then one said sarcastically.
"I don't think you are the manager of the café, a-r-e-n't-y-o-u?"Ah! These guys can speak English.
"Well of course I wasn't, any idiot can tell by the first look that I wasn't the manger probably you must be the dumb one to ask that question." I said. Someone made a cat like sound.
He glared me and stepped forward.
"What? Are you picking on me?" he said. "Hey, hey, cool down Reyd. She's a girl." The one who helped me said.
"Oh? When did Kanata started to defend a girl? Last time I remember was him to make a girl cry wasn't he?" the aggressive looking guy said. he's probably blond.
"Look, that's different and this is different." He said.
"Oh, both are same." He said.
"What about you? You did make a girl cry. But not Misaki." That blond looked him like he was crazy.
"That doesn't make any sense." He said. "Right misaki?"
"Yeah!" said a female voice. Oh wait. There's a girl in these middle of the boy's gang? what the hell she's doing in this big bunch of guys? she stood beside a oh wait there's an another guy i didn't notice him. She looked very lean and shirt beside him..
"You want to stop this fight right?" one of them asked snapping me from my gaze. "yeah." I said.
"Fine." He said. "Guys lets retreat for now." He said and began to depart. Just then a hand caught him.
"Wait! You said you'll return it back right? Give it, before you go." said the girl in that gang. He turned and grinned.
"Sorry Misaki, I didn't bring that thing." no sooner he said, that aggressive blond guy marched forward and punched his face harder. He stumbled a couple steps back and groned.
"What are you grinning for Kanata? The purpose of this meeting is to return that thing and your damn thing to you." He said.
"Oh! I just realized that the thing you stole from us is of no use." He said wiping the blood coming from his nose.
"So you are toying with us." Said the guy who remained silent in that gang.
"Oh, No ken, not toying with you. I told you I forgot that thing in the home. I'll return it to you in the school." He said. "You just wasted our whole time didn't you?" said the aggressive one and grabbed him by collar.
"Hey, am sorry theo. I'll return that thing to you in the school." He said.
"You don't look like you are sorry."
"Hey, he said he'll return it to you later right? So, why don't you just let him go?"
"What's your problem ? Why you interfering in this fight? Right. you said, let him go right? Fine I'll let him go." He said. 'Good' I thought. He gave me a smirk. Puzzled. He grabbed Kanata by collar and punched him on the face. What the-? He flew back and crashed the table harder and the flower vase on the table hit his head and it broke when it hit the floor.
"Come on Misaki, ken lets go." He said and began to walk away. I ran towards Kanata. "Are you okay?" I asked.
"Yeah" he said ruffling his hair. I wonder if he's really okay. That flower vase crashed right on his head.
"What happened?" someone yelled. I quickly turned my head and saw a guy who might be in his mid-thirties running towards us. Crap! Manager of this café. He stood right in front of me and saw the broken vase and glared me.
"Shojo, anata wa 50000-en no kabin o kowashita hitodesu ka?" (Girl, are you the one who broke the 50000 yen flower vase?) What? That cheap looking flower vase costs 50000 yen?
"No it's not me, right Kanata?" I said.Silence. I turned my head and found Kanata who just walked out of the café with his friends. Damn him!
"Oh! A foreigner? Looks like your friend left you eh?" Damn, he knows English.
"He's not my friend and am not the one who broke this vase." I said.
"You seem to know his name and you are near the vase." He said. I wasdumb stuck.
"Pay the cash for the vase and the food you ordered." He said.
"I don't have money to pay and i told you am not the one who broke that vase. " I said. He glared me. "Well, then."
How can they do this to me? Did they make me to wash all the dishes for the mistake I haven't done? I was annoyed. Am walking on road finding my way back to my home. But, I had been walking round and round in the same place. It's already night. Street light flashed bright. Probably it's my fifth time to round this street. I sighed. It takes me forever to find my way back home. I gazed up and saw the moon shimmering brightly.
"hey" someone hissed near my ear. whoa! I turned my head back. Found a guy behind me. I turned my feet to face him. He's tall and has that same dark soft Japanese hair and has those set of black eyes and he was well built. He was smiling.
"Sorry, do you know me?" I asked. There was an amusing smile playing on his lips.
"Oh! You didn't recognized me?" he said. That voice I heard it somewhere. I racked my brain back at 2 hours earlier began to think and think. In the café I think. Probably, the most annoying one.Voice clicked in my brain and finally found it. Annoyed.
"Kanata." I said, rolling my eyes. "Bingo!" he chuckled.
"Am sorry earlier. I left you back at the café and you washed those dishes in place of me." he said ruffling his hair.
"What do you want?" I asked. "I think you lost your way." He said.
"Well, get straight to the point Kanata." I said. He smiled.
"I want to help you to find your way back to home." He said. Probably craziest one to say.
"Oh, yeah? You going to find my home in this huge city?" I said.
"Hey, it's true it might be the one hell big city but I can really find your home once you describe your place. I been living for ages." He said. He typically sounded like an old hag.
"And why you want to help me in the first place?" I asked. He smiled.
"Because I owe you for washing those dishes." He said. I began to walk. He took huge steps to come beside me.
"How did you even recognize me?" I asked him turning my head towards him.
"Am with my mom got some kind of work and we have to wait for well, so many hours to get the work done." He said. He probably bored sitting for two hours.
"I saw you rounding this place for about five time I think I saw your pony tail and you look different from others I thought it might be you, so with few conversation I confirmed it was you." He said and grinned. Oh? You got bored there sitting for hours. To kill your boredom you offered me help. Great!
"No need." I said.
"No need what?"
"I don't need your help."I said.
"Really? I might really help you. And it's night you see. It's Tokyo a big city. kidnappers might be lurking at the corners." He said.
"Nice, try." I said and began to walk away.
"hey." He shouted back at me. I saw the watch and it's already eight thirty. He ran and caught me.
"I can be really helpful, it takes forever to get back to your home." He said. I sighed. He was right it takes me forever.
"fine." I said. There was a smile crawling on his face.
"Can you describe your block?" he asked. I described him. He ate all the info I gave him. He stood there for a minute lost in his deep thought. Finally he turned his head and gave a smile.
"The block you described, there might be 20 or so kind of block." He said. 20? Am done.
"Don't worry it takes less time to find your house 20 blocks isn't really a huge number as it sounds." He added immediately seeing my reaction.
"okay." I said. "Firstly let's take a cab, it takes less time." he said and began to walk I followed him.
"What's your name?" he asked. He wants my name now?
"Cresenta." I lied.
"Cresenta? That's a pretty weir-I mean good name. Haven't heard that kind of name." he said. Of course you won't heard of that kind of name dummy.
"But you got those nice eyes there." He said. Pretty much true. It got the color of the gold and deep honey color which fell into the color of amber. People often tell me that I have beautiful eyes and this reddish-orange hair really made my features look much better. It's a rare eye color.
"Well..." I began to tell something just then I saw a women approaching towards us. She has that reddish-orange hair which was tied into side loose braid her side bangs fell on her face making her face look young and more featured. She wore her usual business clothes. Her eyes widened when she saw me.
"Mom?" I said. She ran towards me and hugged me.
"where are you? I thought I wont finding you!" she said and much more relived. I hugged her back.
"am sorry."
"I told you, but you didn't listened my words." She said.
"Sorry, did I scare you?"
"Yeah!" she exhaled and hugged me tight.
"Don't do this again." She said.
"I won't." I said. she released me from hug.
"Let's go home." She said. I nodded. She caught my hand and glanced Kanata.
"Who is this young man?" she questioned.
"Mom, he's Kanata I met him back in the café well, he's helping me to find the way." I said. She smiled.
"Watashi no musume Kanata o tasukete kurete
arigato." (Thank you for helping my daughter Kanata.)
"Nanimonai" (no, it's nothing.)
"Anata wa watashi ga ie ni orite hoshidesu ka?"(Well, Kanata do you want me to drop at your house?)
"Ie, okage-sama de watashi no okasan, osoraku watashi no okasan ga watashi o matteimasu."(No.Thanks am here with my mom, probably my mom was waiting for me)
"Daijobu ka na ta sayonara" (okay then Kanata bye!) he smiled and nodded. We began to walk. "hey,Cresenta! " he yelled. We both turned back. He grinned and waved me bye. I waved back. We began to walk.
"Cresenta? " mom questioned.
"don't know" I said and opened the door of the car. I wonder how my life is going to be in Japan for the next following days. I sighed. Mom turned the keys of the car.
