Judas was stalking the wood, his basket partially filled with edible mushrooms and berries. He, like all the other fifteen year old children, was sent out to forage every morning.
"Last one" he said, as he leaned over to pick up another mushroom, the earth beneath him began to crumble, and a large hole emerged. He tried to regain balance, but slipped on the leaves beneath him. He landed with a crack, letting out a mournful shriek.
He looked around him, the pit was too tall to climb with his injured leg. His head swivels around to find the source of high pitched laughter. Standing right over the pit was a green humanoid no bigger than a small child with a squashed nose and long ears, a goblin.
Several more goblins peaked over the edge of the pit, staring down at him with blood lust. Judas head swiveled.
"There!" He thought, noticing a hole on the side of the pit.
"If I can't go up, I'm coming down." He said, crawling to the hole.
"Here goes nothing" He said as he crawled down the hole. The hole continued growing wider the deeper it got. He slowly climbed down, almost slipping several times.
"Stupid goblins, can't even climb down a cave wall." He laughed, he had won, he had escaped the goblins. It was during that moment of carelessness, when he celebrated his victory. That he lost his grip.
"Oh shit." He said falling, "this was a mistake." He collided with the ground with a smack. He lay their coughing blood. He thought of his decision to go into the cave, he thought how dumb it was that he of all people had to make a life or death decision. He though of how dumb it was that he had to die so soon.
"I promise in my next life I'll be strong enough so I never have to make a decision like this again."
