Chapter 42 - Siege at Akkee sect (7)

"Master, are you frustrated? You are frustrated, aren't you?"

"No!" He said no but he was really frustrated, if he was not he would not make a showy move like that. With his experience and skill, to silently finish two young wizards were very easily with just throwing two knives.

"I want to ask some question? You not practiced your climbing in the simulation but practiced in your infiltration. For what purpose?"

"Fufu! And you said you know me better than myself."

"That I am, but your actions were of very illogical, as your assistant I need to check whether you are senile and forget or you had your stupid idea again."

"Ugh!"

The reason David did not practice was for excitement, he was bored with his desk works that came from all corner of his vast empire since he wanted to devote himself for the people he always took care of every important one by himself.

Because of that, the documents got piled up and it wore him out. When he saw a good opportunity to has fun, he decided to climb and only get Iris to help in some area. He knew that falling at that height was almost fatal even for him, but with Iris's help, he could survive by sticking his finger into the cliff and slow down his fall somehow, so he not afraid.

Frankly speaking, it was foolish thought of a man responsible with other people's lives and Iris clearly hit him straight.

Despite that, he did not forget to practice on his infiltration as this was harder than climbing.

David looked at the map of Akkee sect he got from the interrogate of Akkee sect's disciple, he already practiced many times in the simulation by Anetroc and remembered the route to granary quite well, but the map was too crude even with the most up to date one.

The simulation was based on the information he received even in the unconscious state but could not be said that it was 100 % correct. Human mind and nature were predictable but to believe that they always went the same way was ridiculous.

In a sense, nature followed the rule of it own and for anyone to predict it, that was quite possible if they were smart enough. However, human minds looked easy to predict but sometime they could make an unpredictable outcome, whether they were too stupid or too brilliant were all possible.

David now wondered what this building on his front was, from the look of it this building must keep some kind of important thing. David did not have any information about this building, his plan was to sabotage Akkee sect as much as possible. He would be fine even if he did not know what inside of this building.

"I should proceed with the current plan and get back to it later if I have time." David thought.

Most of the guard were either asleep or half-asleep, but this building in front of him was different. The two guards stay firm and very high alert, if it was not for someone of David caliber they would notice him by now. There was no window only many small holes on the top of the building very close to the ceiling. It was known that this was a restricted are only for the patriarch to come inside.

David kept his curiosity in control for now and decide to move toward the granary according to his plan. At the simulation, he did a lot of practice over a week before he came to Akkee sect, the time in the simulation was different and he tried many things. Assassin of the top ranking would give the best result but the failure rate was as high as 20 percent, when he reached the top he pondered a bit, in the end he decided that the best and safest methods were to destroy the provisions.

Around the evening before David's infiltration.

"Father! Let us fight to the death with them, even if we died our honor will never perish. Also, those leechers that do nothing but eat and complain should help us fight. Do they think they will be pardon? Father! A true man even died will fall forward, I will lead and show the true strength of Akkee sect for the later generation to know." The first young master of Akkee sect said.

"Father! Our clan was on the mountain and the enemies were too afraid to step in, I suggested we defended here until they retreated." The third young master of Akkee sect said he did not suggest because he really believed that the empire army will retreat but because he was afraid of dying. A man like this would do anything to cling on everything he had to prolong his life even if it was just a little.

"Umm…" The patriarch did not answer any of his sons, he always an indecisive man, he was quite strong but the last patriarch which was his father reluctant to name him as the successor was this. If it was not David helped slain his father, he would not be the successor and may become an elder to his son instead.

"This is my fault, I was too weak. My indecisive personality had brought the clan to ruin." He thought.

The patriarch looked to the boy in the youngling corner and all the younger members of the sect. He believed that this was the time he must do something. He was old at most he would just live a decade or two longer, but these youngsters were only in their teens and they still had a lot for them.

"Everyone get out of here….. Only Nezha remain" The patriarch told everyone to get out but he calls the boy to stay.

Around the same evening at one of the makeshift wall part besieging the Akkee sect.

"Captain Abra, How long do you think the siege will hold?"

"Who knows? The higher up only order us to standby and be prepare but it was not our duty to directly fight them."

"I want to go back home and rest. My wife was expecting a child next month."

"Do you want to make a direct assault on this place? Count me out!" Another soldier joined in the conversation.

"If the emperor order so, we must do it. It was our duty to make his order come true. As long as it was his majesty's order surely it must be for the people." Abra said.

"Captain, you came from the emperor birthplace, right? Do you ever see his majesty?"

"No, but my father was his teacher. He told me that the emperor was a man of unmatched vision and wisdom. Both my father and brother served in the army but they were dead, I followed in their footstep."
