Chapter 35 - Chapter 31: The Meeting (1)

The next day, the whole academy was on an uproar because of what the young visitor did yesterday and the unusual announcement the vice principal made.

The news quickly spread to the whole student body by the very active newspaper club. Combined with the rumors about the relationship between the special admitted student, the works of the newspaper department of the academy are selling like hotcakes!

Half past 8 in the morning after Regis, Arias, and Reena finish eating breakfast from the cafeteria, they casually took a walk on the pavement as they headed to the main building of the academy.

"So what is the purpose of this gathering?"

Inside the main building is where the royal hall is located. The hall is adorned with big number beautiful furniture's, paintings and some rare magic tools for the guests to see. Almost each of these things is very expensive that the royal room is not open for someone below the rank of a count to enter.

In the middle of the hall is a big round antique table which is said to be made from the wood of the tree of life excavated around a thousand years ago was being used by the seven people for their tea time.

Manaria, as the director of the academy, acts as the host of the gathering together with Robert. Regis, Reena, and Arias are seated on one side near Robert, taking their sweet time eating cookies.

The other three people present on the gathering are the Duke of the Gerard family, one of the closest and highest ranking families of the Edinburgh Empire, the personal representative of the current Emperor of the Edinburgh Empire, Marcus Laxus and the student representative of the third year students of the Academy of TIme Axel, Johann Rozen.

The one who asked the question was Reena who's still munching down a batch of cookies on her plate. As the host, Manaria discussed the plan for the incoming qualifying matches for the following month and a certain king who wants to invest time watching his beloved daughter participate in the Magic Festival but cannot because of his busy schedule.

"Our agenda for today is the incoming qualifiers for the top five representative pairs for the Magic Festival this year. I plan to limit the participants for every year level to make sure we are giving every student an equal chance to enter the competition."

"I suggest we only allow the top ten pairs for each year to enter the qualifiers to better determine the best students we have. It will relate to the plan of the academy director." Duke Gerard proposed. The people in the room nodded in response as everyone thinks it is a very good suggestion.

"King Edward wants to witness the qualifier matches for the next month but could not because of some troublesome matter he needs to handle at the southern kingdom. He decided to personally straighten up the people there so we are planning to make a recording of the matches on a recording crystal and send it over to the king." said the representative of the emperor, Marcus.

There is somehow a large anti-magic alliance that forms a rebellion against the empire on the southern kingdom region. It looks like the disturbance caused by this is rather large compared to a common rebellion so King Edward, the Magnus of the Light, decided to head there personally because of the lack of manpower or most likely because of the rumors that he heard of.

Then Marcus took a letter from his pocket and laid it in front of the table and said that it's personally from King Edward.

"A letter from father?" Arias looked at the letter in pure curiosity.

The letter which the people in the room expected Manaria to read was immediately picked up by Regis and opened.

"H-Hey!!! Just what the heck are you doi—"

The third-year representative, Johann Rozen, almost stood up and tried to stop Regis' action but he was immediately grabbed on the wrist by Robert who is sitting beside him.

"So the old man still very lively though he had it rough, eh? Really, Edward…"

Letting out a sigh after reading the letter, Regis crumpled the letter and some black aura emerged from his hand erasing the existence of the letter.

"Just what the heck did you do?! That letter was from his majesty!"

"Oh, in the name of Goddess Celestia! Even we also didn't know what's written in that letter. How come you destroyed it just like that?!"

Both Gerard and Johann cried out at the same time because of Regis' actions. Even Arias looked at Regis in surprise. 'That's a letter from my father... Regis, you should let me read it first.'

"Hmm? Did something happen?" asked Reena as she slightly tilted her head in wonder when she looked at the noisy duo but since they ignored her, it was Robert who answered her question, telling her not to mind them and just continue eating.

'That was close ' Gilbert thought as he sighs in his mind. 'We don't need to Reena starting something right now.'

"Now, now… calm down you two. There's no need to be so emotional about that. Anyway Regis, what did the letter said?"

Manaria calmed down the two who're close to exploding to avoid triggering the other land mine beside Regis that Robert handled just now.

"Hmph… Edward— he's been expecting me to personally read the letter so he wrote so many complaints and worthless things. As expected of him." A frown appeared on Regis' face as the content of the letter appeared on his mind.

Just as Regis said, the letter he read was personally written by the king expecting that Regis is the one who'll read it.

———

I guess you're the one who's reading this letter, Regis.

If only you knew what hardships this king has experienced and now experiencing because of this silly country...

I heard a rumor that there are remnants of the forbidden type of magic which is most likely used by those rebels. It's just some rumors but it is better for me to personally confirm that just for you. Remember that you owe me a favor for this!

By the way, I received the news that you've been spotted with my lovely daughter having an evening date twice consecutively. So the brat finally decided to go for my daughter.

Oh how fast the time flies... it's been five years since the last time I saw you. That was the time when you became the 'that' I suppose?

I guess I'm now your father-in-law, right?

Just so you know that I won't permit you to do some nasty perverted things to my daughter even if you're stronger than me!

Like touching her here and there and doing this and that!

Do not try the things I did to Manaria during our time. Hahaha! I almost died back there by the way.

Remember, the moment I learned you did that to my daughter will be your last moments!

Anyway, just come and visit the castle sometime, Regis.

You know you're very much welcome here to eat some freshly made Royal Puddings.

Your Great Friend,

Edward Edinburgh IV

'Like hell, I'm planning to do that! And everything that happened earlier was all an accident so I'm not the one at fault! Probably…' Regis complains in his mind.

"Ara ara... I think I can guess what was written in that letter. Really, that man never changed a bit since the last time we saw him. Looks like I need to beat him up into shape just like what I did to him when he was cheating from the late Queen. Fufufu…"

Arias raised an eyebrow at the mention of her father's unpleasant past habit.

"Just don't overdo that like the last time. He's already half dead when you let go of him so I was forced to heal him personally."

"I'll be careful not to break all of his bones."

""Hahahahahahahahahaha!""
