Regis was lost in thought while looking out the window. Before he knew it, the homeroom was long over and more than half of the break-time that followed had passed while he was staring outside. Luckily Robert didn't bother him after that ridiculous introduction earlier.
Then he realized that a number of students are crowding around at a distance, looking at him.
Arias remain seated beside Regis and is reading the pamphlet Regis disdained to read. In the class earlier, she saw Regis seems to be lost in his thought so think of something else to do.
The atmosphere coming from them is cold and tense.
From among the group of students, one person comes forward and approached Arias.
She is a slender, petite girl about 150 cm tall. Her black hair is tied up into a ponytail. Her eyes are pale green and she has fair skin.
Regis wonder, she's the one glaring at me earlier, isn't she? Her eyes radiate a strong spirit.
The girl politely greets Arias with a short bow then points straight at Regis and says, "Excuse me, princess Arias. I shall now tell the special student here the rules of this classroom."
"Hn... The classroom rule is it." Arias thought about for a moment and turns to look at Regis. With tacit understanding, the two noded to each other.
'Looks like she's hard to deal with.' Regis looked at the new girl with half-opened eyes and smile.
"Aah, that'll be a life-saver. I'm kind of disconcerted by a new classroom."
However, ignoring him, the girl folds her arms against the chest area of her uniform, which hardly bulges, and speaks. Raising her sharp, pointed chin arrogantly like she doesn't care.
"First, you must know one of the most important things of this classroom. And that's me. My name is Elizabeth Flamberge. I am the second one who has the best grade in our year and the Vice President of this class."
"Heh~, Vice Representative huh."
"The same as the princess, I have already cleared the examinations for becoming a licensed mage. I'm a peak of Advance Level Magician and peak of Elementary Level Knight Master."
"Ah, that's amazing..." said Regis in a monotone voice.
For students like Elizabeth, that really was an amazing thing.
But compared to Regis, who already obtained most of the licenses a mage can obtain, that's just a very small thing to hear.
But, since those licenses are obtained through many missions and battles that he accepted in the past on a daily basis, there's no way he'll disclose that here.
Not to mention, Regis was a Magnus-level mage in the past. A license for achieving that feat as the youngest one in history is way more meaningful than they can think.
Thus, in a peaceful, safe, quiet place like this academy, for a person the same age as him to have cleared that examination, she would be quite competent— at the moment he thinks about that, Elizabeth speaks.
"Of course it's amazing! Compared to you who was specially admitted here using some incredulous connection, I can't help but wonder why you are here." she eyed Regis suspiciously.
"It is true that you faired quite well against the princess in yesterday's duel but that's only because she was going easy on you!"
Arias almost choked in her own saliva when she heard that. She was already giving her all yesterday so how can they think she's still holding back?!
"And it's not something I need to be to mention, but I am Princess Arias' very close friend!" Elizabeth proudly said.
She is pretty openly proud of that. More like she gives no signs of trying to hide her brimming confidence and puffs her chest out. The size of her chest couldn't quite match up to the magnitude of her confidence, it seems.
Arias, who was listening in to the conversation of the two, can only sigh in defeat as she somewhat predicted what will happen a few minutes from now. She's starting to regret why she didn't tell Elizabeth about Regis last night when she came back to the dormitory.
'... So they're close friends. But Arias didn't even mention this 'very close friend' of her.'
Regis reflexively glanced at the princess who is sitting quietly while listening to their talk and quietly looking at them.
With that, Regis learned what kind of person she is.
A haughty, arrogant idiot.
"... so?"
On hearing my words, Elizabeth just says, "You don't get it?"
"In other words, a perverted commoner like you have no right to remain in this class, much more in that seat beside the princess."
"You have no choice but to change your class or to drop out of this school. This class is only for the elites and nobles. This is the most important rule. Get it?" Elizabeth said with a look contempt in her eyes. Their other classmates who are standing in the sideline looked at Regis in mockery.
'So that's what they are thinking huh.'
"So you don't want me here?" Regis asked with a blank look on his face. No one knows what he is thinking. Even Arias was upset when she heard what Elizabeth just said.
A smile then surfaces on Elizabeth's face.
"I want you to humble yourself and follow our rules. Most of the classes are under our command— they survived because of our protection."
"Hmm. I see."
"Or are you going to make an enemy out of us?
From Elizabeth's perspective, it's like the entire first year revolves around them. But if only they knew that there are also a lot of hidden experts from other classes.
".....Just go ahead and do what you want."
Standing up, Regis started to walk out of the classroom, completely ignoring everything.
"Hold it right there."
"Elizabeth, please stop."
Elizabeth, and Arias who has been listening quietly speak at the same time.
"Arias, I'll be skipping the next class. You can find me later in 'that' place." said Regis when turned around to look at them with half-opened eyes.
"….."
Then again, he turned his back on them and walked out of the classroom.
"Why you—" Elizabeth almost followed out of the classroom to charged at Regis but a hand grasped her arm.
Elizabeth turned and looked at Arias in puzzlement, "Why did you stop me, princess?"
"...Stop it, Eliza. Don't piss him off." Arias told her in a serious expression. "I'm not trying to scare you but he's the one holding back in the duel yesterday." she added in a low voice.
""What?!""
All of them look at her with very surprised faces.
Regis, who was walking in the hallway and hasn't gotten far yet, heard the loud voices of disbelief from his new classmates.
The students who were walking outside also wondered what is happening to that classroom.
'I wonder what Arias told them. They are lucky I'm not in the mood to care about their idiocy.'
With a flash of black lightning, Regis' frame disappeared from the hallway, earning an alarmed look from the other students.
Leaning behind a pillar in the hallway, a young man with the same built as Regis. A blond hair, azure-colored eyes and a crest of a lion on the left side of his uniform.
"So he is that special student. Not as impressive as the rumors say."
He glanced at the spot where Regis was walking a moment ago and a glint of coldness flashed in his eyes.
"Arias Ella is mine. I'll let him see what will happen to those who dare to make a pass on my person."
