"Mister Doctor. How is my eye?" Daryl bowed his head towards me, preventing me from seeing his eyes.
"It seems to be... doing quite well." I couldn't get that image of his eye out of my head, it felt too creepy, too horrible. I've been suffering all week because of that single image.
"Are you sure, Mister Doctor?" Daryl still wouldn't look at me, he just bowed his head.
"Yes. I'm absolutely positive."
"That's a relief..." He slowly raised his head higher. "I guess that I have nothing to worry about."
My eyes widened as I saw his face.
It was rotten. Black and moldy. He looked like a corpse that had been dug up a month after he had been buried. But that was not what really scared me.
His eyes.
His EYES.
HISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYES HISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYES HISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYES HISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYES HISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYESHISEYES
He didn't have any.
All that was left was a bloody mess of what used to be his eyes. The insides of his eyeballs spilled out in a puddle of red and white, his arteries floating upwards in that disgusting pond of gore.
I didn't want to look at it, I didn't want to acknowledge its existence. But for some reason, I was drawn to find out the reason, the reason why he became like this.
I leapt forward. Unable to control my own body.
I dug my fingernails into his eye sockets, scooping out the rest of the remains from his eyes.
Daryl didn't scream in pain though. He laughed. He laughed so happily.
Why do I love this too?
I clawed into his skull, rubbing on the sides of his inner flesh, the broken down parts of his eyeballs. Trying to get inside. I want to crawl into his brain and eat his gooey organs.
I want it.
I NEED it.
When suddenly, my fingers brushed on multiple strands of a slimy substance.
I froze for a moment. Then with a big grin on my face, I pinched as many of these mysterious strands as I could. Then with a strong tug, I ripped out these strands from inside the boy's eye sockets.
Worms.
Translucent worms.
Feasting on his eyes from the outside in. Burrowing inwards until they find his brains.
On the head of these worms, a chunk of flesh was stuck to their minuscule mouths.
I needed that.
I raised the worms in the the air, right above my own eyes. My hands, body, trembled with excitement and glee.
And then I dropped them.
I laughed as my vision was blurred, and soon filled with a red tint as the worms ate into MY eyes.
Tears streamed down my face, until even my tear ducts were ingested by these worms.
I love it.
I love the pain.
--
I awoke in a cold sweat, my lungs hyperventilating.
My hands immediately went to my eyes, examining it, rubbing it. Making sure it wasn't being consumed by multiple translucent worms.
As I confirmed that I wasn't, I slowly lowered my hands.
"Ha...ha..." I chuckled miserably.
Of course it was a dream. It couldn't be real. It just couldn't.
How had I not realize it sooner?
I laughed at my stupidity. I laughed at my sanity.
I laughed at how pathetic I was.
