Two weeks have passed since Joshua and I have aquatinted with each other. He would come home with me to eat some of our bread and to also get a glance at Ethel.
Oh, and the Cory situation... looks like Joshua handled it, since Cory would look at me fearfully every time we met eye to eye.
I also learned that Joshua's the opposite of me - actually has a lot - no, literally everyone in his grade is friends with him, along with the upperclassmen.
It was astonishing. Makes me wonder why'd he hung out with me.
I like to think I'm somewhat special to him, despite knowing him for half a month.
(Maybe a connection of some sorts)
It was a Saturday when Mamma yelled me to come downstairs.
"CHASE!!! COME DOWN HERE!! JOSHUA JUST ARRIVED."
"YES MAMMA!!!" I yelled back, putting my books away and heading downstairs.
For the first time, I saw Joshua having a normal conversation with Ethel. (Though he was still blushing like a madman and disguised it as a cold. I could tell since I'm not as naive as the other two.) Joshua saw me and smiled.
"Hey man." He said, followed by a fake cough.
"Hi." I simply said, sitting in the chair next to him.
Mamma was happily baking bread in the baking area and Ethel helped out at the counter where we were.
"Amore! Joshua has volunteered to take you to his shop. After all, we need new baking supplies and we haven't been able to go since it's been busy this whole time." Mamma said, coming into the room and dusting her hands.
I looked at her surprised.
"You usually don't let me go out by myself unless it's school..."
"I know, but I trust Joshua to take care of you." She said, smiling at Joshua and patting his elbow that sat on the counter.
"No problem Mrs Payne. I'll take good care of this little guy."
"I'm not little."
"Alright, here's the list then." Mamma handed me a piece of paper that read different types of materials for the bakery. Beneath the piece of paper, I saw a 5$ bill. Mamma just winked at me.
"Now, off you go then. Don't take too long! And take care!!!"
She shooed us off and we were left outside in the cold air.
"Gee, I didn't even take my coat."
"That's fine." Joshua took off his coat and handed it to me.
"Thanks. What about you?"
"I'm used to it. I work shirtless, remember?"
"Ah yeah. Also, that was bad acting."
"What do you mean???"
"You pretending to be sick. You should be thankful they're both naive."
"S-Shut it!!!" Joshua remarked before stomping away 10 ft then coming back and said, "I'm afraid you'll tell you're mom I left you and I won't be able to eat your bread anymore so ignore what happened earlier."
"Whatever." I said smiling, as we both headed towards the train station.
