The camp awoke to the sound of drums coming from the 2nd layer.
My sector men got up out of our tents and went to the firepit; we were given orders to pack up and prepare for the upcoming march.
We cleaned up our tents and were ordered into formation; Sectors were ordered to combine with 4 others coming together
125 Men per sector now with 20 sectors for the Volunteers.
Orders were handed out to divided between classes.
I came to the Monk/Monk Sub-classes sector.
We were the smaller class as not many people dared to fight with gauntlets and bare fists.
We came to about 6 sectors now Monk, swordsman, spearmen, healer, magician, and archer.
The smallest class was healer as they are one of the rarest classes to come by.
The 2nd layer and 1st layer completed packing and began handing down the orders to march forward with the vanguard.
...
We have been marching and camping for days; we have received word that we are nearly there.
...
We landed within the site of the Baron of Hishe castle; we entered the territory a few days ago passing small villages.
We were ordered to make camp and to prepare to rest to get ready for tomorrow; the structure of the camp was different this time.
4 Layers the first layer the center was the War council as before, 2 layer was the elites of the knights, third layers were the volunteers and the 4 layers was the majority of the Marquis Knights.
The same thing as yesterday's sectors divided back into 25 men with firepits.
We set up camp; ate, and then rested.
We were awoken to the sound of a Warhorn; the Baron of Hishe decided to attack first with a calvary charge in an attempt to catch us off guard.
The knights got on their horses and prepared to meet.
300 Enemy Calvary to be intercepted by 500 Knights; the archer sector was organized and by order of the Marquis War council they were to rain arrows down on the scrim.
They may have been the Knights of the Marquis but the friendly fire was an occurrence on the battlefield to end it faster.
The scrimmage ended in a retreat by the enemy. 250 already dead; 150 left alive on the Baron of Hishe side and 400 left on the Marquis side.
Our camp was on high alert now; all troops where to gather back into 6 sectors.
By Noon; the siege equipment from the Marquis craftsman has arrived; massive structures meant to be pushed by troops onto castle walls where they would breach from.
Knights were ordered to the front behind the spearmen along with the swordsman the Marquis's calvary was our right flank.
The monks were ordered to the left flank; healers were in the rear with a protection squad of 500 Knights; archers stood in the center with the magicians on the right flank as well.
The siege equipment was to the left and right flanks the monks would be on the equipment while the heavily armed knights would push it to the castle walls.
By the sound of the war drums, we begin marching; heavy sweat dripped.
The Baron's gates opened and came to meet us where 1000 Calvary; archers were ordered to loose arrows.
The spearmen spears fell and were ready to meet the enemy.
Within seconds hooves were pounding the calvary was met by the spearmen and archers.
Hellish fighting begins as the calvary pounced the spearmen.
The right flank was ordered to charge and cut the calvary off.
The Baron of Hishe had hopped for this and out the right side, the gate had 100 cavalry men charge out.
The right siege tower was abandoned as the monks and magicians came down to meet the calvary 250 knights broke from the healer's squad and came to meet the calvary.
Fighting on the front and right side.
Healers begin chanting.
The right flank was secured in minutes due to the Baron of Hishe failure to properly asses the strength of the magicians/monks/knights.
The 250 knights were ordered to head to the right gate to secure it along with 50 archers.
The left flank marched toward the walls; it moved slower the closer they got due to the deaths took by enemy archers on the walls.
The siege equipment landed on the walls; my fellow monks and I braced as the siege door falls open and we storm the walls of the castle.
We met with knights and archers; close quarter combat began, I wore my gauntlets and prepared for battle
The archers swung down with their swords; the archers bashed with the sharp ends of their bows blood was everywhere it was turning into a river of blood.
We claimed the left castle wall and due to the failure of the right we were forced to cut our forces in half as one half stayed to defend and the other half went to take the right side.
The main frontal assault by enemy calvary has finished.
The main attacking forces prepared ladders and begin the climb up the right side; magicians fire upon the right side clearing it; we requested archers to fire past the center gate.
With this it helped reduced the enemy forces as they fled for cover; we pushed through claiming street after street till we came for the stairs of the gate.
A high ranking member of the Baron of Hishe forces was holding the stairs; none could break through him.
I stepped up and attacked him with my gauntlets he defended himself with his arms; I picked up a broken part of the stairs in confusion broke it to powder in my fist.
Once the enemy came to the realization a threat appeared he attacked with full force; he swung his 2 handed sword at me; I blocked with one gauntlet and used my gauntlet full of power to throw it in his face.
Confusing him allowing me to crush his throat.
The men below me sang a war cry.
OOI OOI OOI...
We came upon the right side and attacked with surprise due to the occupied soldiers defending the wall from ladders, magicians, and archers.
It was a massacre as the monks broke the skulls and bones of every enemy man on the wall.
The front force with assistance from the left wall opened the gate and the main force pushed through.
The roads were barricaded and magicians were hidden to launch there most deadly spells at our forces attempting to break the barricaded.
They roamed in the shadows; they hit us when we weren't suspecting.
The tactic may have made for a good deterrent but it couldn't stop us; as we came to the inner-gate.
We pushed them back this far now it was time to defend the magicians as they melted the steel bars of the gate as the monks crushed the red hot bars.
The enemy archers were devasting our magicians but the healers tasked with healing the front came in hand for this.
The red hot bars were bent by the monks as arrows hit them; many monks fell but their sacrifice got the gate open and we charged; the magicians attacked the walls while we stormed in the broken gate.
Spearmen pushed forward as the monks went up the walls and killed the archers.
The inner-gate was taken after a battle which felt like an eternity.
We came to the castle broke through the barricades to the final defense; the thrones room door.
We got the ram; the magicians were tasked with freezing the outer rim of the door as we charged at full force with the ram at it.
The door bust down but as the door fell arrows were loosed into our forces at the door.
I nearly took an arrow to the knee but dimensional magic comes in handy.
The spearmen advanced first as the knights came upon the flanks.
The monks charged behind them.
The battle ensued as the Baron of Hishe sat upon the throne.
After a harsh battle, only the Baron of Hishe himself along with one personal knight was alive.
After we surrounded the Baron on the throne the Knight of Baron of Hishe stabbed the sitting baron as one finally service before leaping towards us.
He was swiftly cut down by an elite knight as the Marquis watched behind a circle of elites.
The Marquis came to the dead body of the former Baron of Hishe; he had a knight throw the body off and the head severed as it was stook on a spearmen's spear and pushed towards the air.
Chanting began as victory has arrived.
The Marquis spoke; "Congrats my faithful you have served this Marquis greatly; prepare to fortify the castle and gates. We shall celebrate tonight in the Baron of Hishe personal hall."
Marquis: "Please enjoy yourselves later this evening but make sure to be on alert for roaming survivors. Its 250 concs for an alive soldier so make sure to be on watch"
The men in the throne room begin to dissipate as we were moved and assigned to new positions to help rebuild.
The night came fast as well as the heads as 14 enemy soldiers have already been found and executed.
The banquet was quite large and full of alcohol appealing to the remain volunteers as only 600 were left due to the massive resistance fought.
The knights were better equipped and trained than us with healer priority but they were also the main fighting force leaving 2300 dead and 2400 alive and 300 injured
At this banquet, the Marquis spoke again.
Marquis: "Listen, well men, we here to celebrate our victory and remember the fallen, a moment of silence for the dead"
....
Marquis: "I thank you for this time of silence for the dead, and listen well again as a Marquis and conquer of this territory granting me the former Baron of Hishe title; I hereby name my Personal Elite Knight Eric T Smith who fought bravely on this battlefield the Baron of Hishe."
The Marquis's knights applauded.
Marquis: "We also stand here to thank another man who helped in advancing to take the right wall by defeating an enemy with parrel strength to one of my elite knights, may Mr. Hunter come to me?"
I didn't think defeating a man of higher stature would grant me the chance to speak to the Marquis
I came up to the Marquis as he asked me to stand in front of him.
Marquis: "As we congratulate the brave achievements tonight Mr. Hunter helped us take the right wall and for his service, I grant him the title of Knight"
I was in shock for this large display; till it came to me it was most likely a way to boost the morale of the volunteers to give them the chance of going higher and to help the Marquis in other situations.
Later the night I was gifted my official documents of Nobility. The lowest of low but still on the line a Knight.
I wasn't too interested in my rank but it still could boost my living arrangments, with this title I can move into the inner-city.
