Chapter 3 - III.

"Come on, Evey, let's study!" I called out, my voice echoing through their spacious living room. "Where's Aunt Carrie?"

He replied as he walked down the stairs. "She already left for business meetings and stuff."

I look at his pain-filled face. "And what did she tell you about those cuts on your face?"

"Well, she's too busy to notice." He simply answered with a shrug as he finally reached the base of the stairs and stood in front of me with his hands inside his shorts' pockets.

"And how did you sleep last night?"

"Like how a cute baby sleeps at night." He answered with a smile.

I roll my eyes as I turn around

I roll my eyes as I turn around. "Poor Aunt Carrie, waking up in the middle of the night just to change his son's diapers." I say loudly, for him to hear, as i shake my head slowly.

"Continue rolling your eyes, baby, maybe you'll find your brain somewhere inside your head." he whispered as he nudged my right arm and he walked pass me, leaving me speechless.

Why that dork!

I really want to kill him now

I took a seat beside him and threw my things forcefully on the garden table while raising my eyebrow in annoyance.

"Already found your brain, baby?" he teased, making me more pissed off. And to top it all of, he had that grin smudged on his stupid face.

Then, his smile fell. "Hey, who's Andrew?" he asked.

"He's someone close to me. Why'd you ask?"

"He's calling right now."

I looked at my phone on the table and Andrew is calling me. "Shoot." I quickly grabbed my phone and answered his call as I walk away from Cam.

"What took you so long to pick up the phone?" Andrew groaned on the other line.

I shrugged. "Well, I turned my phone into silent mode then Cam saw that you are calling me... so yeah. Why'd you call?"

"There's this re-opened fast food restaurant where our parents used to go. And we want to try it out with you. We miss you so much already."

"Awwwe, that's so sweet, Drew. But I can't. I miss you too but I still need to tutor Cameron---"

"It's always Cameron!"

"Oh stop it, Drew. I guess we'll just hang out after our finals, alright?"

"Alright."

"We love you, Aza." Ash shouted from the background.

"Quit it, Ash." Ark hissed.

"But why do you always hang out with him anyway?" Andrew asked.

I shrugged. "Well, because mom said so."

"He's a guy right? Are you already choosing him over us?" Ark asked on the other line.

I shook my head. "Of course not. I will still choose you over him. But you know mom, she'll definitely make me suffer if I don't tutor him. You understand me, right?"

"Yes." The three of them yelled. "We love you!"

"Well, I love you too guys. Take care. Bye." Then I hung up.

I brought my phone down and saw Cam somewhat glaring at me.

What's his problem?

What's his problem?

"Hey, doofus, what's your problem?" I ask as I come back to take a seat beside him.

"Nothing." He answered nonchalantly.

I shrugged. "Well, anyway, I think we won't be able to review for tomorrow. Because the day after tomorrow is the final examinations in my school. So, after class, I won't be able to tutor you until the next day."

"Cool." And that's all that he said.

Is he upset or something?

"Okay... let's get back to where we had left off yesterday. Ah, yes, chemistry." I started to grab my pen and flipped the reviewer. "So, basically, chemistry is a branch of science."

"We all know that!"

"I know, just listen, will you?!" I hissed making him shut up. "Just grab your pen and I'll give you something to do."

He pouted but quickly grabbed a pen.

"I know you're hungry, well, you are always hungry, so I decided to bring us some treat." At the word treat, he quickly smiles up like a child and looked at me eagerly. "I brought some skittles. Andrew gave this to me yesterday after he drove me home. And since I know that this is your favorite, I decided to bring some over."

Then, his smile turns into a frown. "Well, I don't want skittles anymore."

I shrugged. "Oh, well, I guess I have to eat this for myself then, and besides, you should be grateful I still give you free food after you told me to search for my brain."

I started to eat while he watches me munch the sour candies. Well, I gave it to him but he declined, so basically, it's not my fault.

Skittles or M&M's, I'll definitely choose skittles. 100% no doubt!

"Okay, enough." He said as he grabbed the pack of skittles from my hand. And he starts to eat those lovely goodies.

And I started to protest. "That's not fair! You said you don't want it!" I said as I try my best to reach it from him. "Skittles are not like girls that you can't take back once you neglected them!"

"Na-ah, you gave it to me."

"But you declined!" I yelled at him. I hate this guy!

But he just raises his right arm higher. I can nearly reach it...but I fell over his chest- his lips touching my right ear. "Girls are like skittles, colorful on the outside but sour on the inside."

"Azaria, how's the review?" then, here comes mom.

Mom to the rescue. Well, sort of.

In an instant, Cam placed his arms down, and I sat up straight.

"Well, he stole my skittles." I complained, childishly at my mother... who's not happy.

"Good morning, Aunt Lei." He greeted my mother with a smile.

A sweet, sweet, too sweet, good boyish smile.

"Good morning to you too, Cameron. What happened?" mom asked. Referring to Cam's face.

Like she didn't even hear me complain. Wow. Just wow.

"I just got into a fight." He answered.

"Well, more like started a fight." I mumbled earning a glare from him.

"Oh, my, be careful next time alright?" mom said, he just nodded. "Well, where's your mom? Is she home?"

Cameron shook his head. "No, Auntie. She left for work. And I think she'll leave for Vietnam tomorrow for a business meeting again."

Mom nod. "Well, if you need anything, feel free to come in the house and tell me, alright?"

"Okay, Aunt Lei." Cameron said.

"And oh, Azaria, there are some slices of salmon there in the freezer if you'll get hungry later."

"Why, where are you going, ma?"

"I'll be heading to your Grandmother's house."

"Okay."

"I'll leave you two now to study. Study well, Cameron! And you too, Azaria, Study well." mom said as she waved good bye to us.

But before mom was out of sight, she glared at me like I was the one who did something wrong.

Me? What did I do wrong?

I looked at Cameron with a glare

I looked at Cameron with a glare. Why does he always use his charisma over my mom? He's not even that charismatic!

"You heard her, study well, Azaria, let review and maybe we can find your brain."

"Shut up, bird brain." I told Cameron while glaring at him.

He just gave me a blank stare. "What did I do this time?"

"Let's just get back to studying." I said and wrote some notes on the reviewer.

***

"Aria..." Cam whispered beside me.

"Cam, just listen to me." I hissed at him as I continue to write on the reviewer.

He didn't say anything.

Well, I guess he is really taking this seriously. Thank goodness.

"Okay, Cam, so I'll now teach you how I got the ans---"

I was cut off when I felt his head lean on my shoulder making me glance over to his sleeping figure.

His pen already fell to the floor, his reviewer is a little bit wrinkled already.

What time did he even slept last night?

I should have known, he's a night owl.

I want to wake him up to continue our lesson, but I know it will be useless because he will eventually fall asleep again.

Be grateful that I'm your tutor.

I looked at him closely, as if studying his features.

Well, he got that dark brown hair, a straight nose, rose-y cheeks, and lastly, those kissable lips.

Not that I would like to kiss them. Or anything.

It's just that he has those eye-catching features.

"Hey, sorry I dozed off." He quickly spoke when he yawned and straightened his posture.

And I quickly straightened my posture as well.

Damn it. That was a close call.

If he'd seen me looking at him like that again, he would definitely tease me about having a crush on him. Which wont happen again TBH.

He looked at me with those squinty eyes. "How long was I out?"

"Um... just a couple of minutes, I guess."

"I'm hungry, Aria. I want to eat already!" he whined like a six year old.

I smiled. "Well, why don't we go to my house and eat there. Mom said he left some salmon there right?"

He nodded. "You mean you'll cook for me again?" he asked with a huge excited smile.

I nod. "Sure, why not."

"You really are the best gal I've ever known!" he exclaimed.

I guess I'm becoming his personal cook.

From tutor, to nurse, then to being his personal cook.

Again, what's my next job?
