"Then, shall we start?", the lady smiled magnificently.
"Let's go!"
The Esperia Magic School is working with a special teaching technique. The most important skill to develop is the individual competence regarding all aspects of life. The Magic School does not only teach about better cultivation, usage of magic and develop magic skills ... but also the leadership skills needed for commanding his/her own team during a fight in the other worlds.
Unlike other schools, the acceptance rate is basically zero.
That's why there's only about a handful of students in each class. But this is not a disadvantage, because the teachers can focus on better teaching fewer kids than 40 in a class.
Furthermore, the students will be more productive since the teacher's attention is more on them, giving them more self-esteem.
The Esperia Magic School is mostly known as the best Magic School in the country, partly because of the great mages produced by their teachings.
Still mainly, because of their godly teachers.
On campus, there are about 20 teachers, seven of them were part of the 100 man team who fought during the great war between mortals and demons.
They have used legendary-class weapons and elder class spells. Their experience is something other schools can't simply compete with.
So even if their school is 'small', their resources are priceless and nearly unlimited.
Their pride and honor of producing first-class mages made the name of 'Esperia Magic School'. The are Esperia's next-generation leaders and hope.
Rea de Camille is also one of the seven teachers, an Awakened one.
"This school was founded 10 years ago by our principal Mirage Guilt. He's a genius mage, who graduated at the age of 12. Mr. Guilt completed countless missions with his legendary Squad.
Here's the principal's office. It's the center of the school campus."
"In the north, there is the Colosseum. It's currently empty, but once this school term starts, it will be a place of entertainment and training ground during lessons. You will attend the Summer Festival Tournament, which will start in 6 months, as a team. It will be a good place to get more actual combat experience. Winning the Tournament will grand you more resources and a purple-class weapon of your choice."
"Great. This school is so generous with their resources!", Sun got fired up hearing about purple class weapons.
There are four grades of weapons. It is essential for battle since magic relies on the stamina of the caster. The weapons do not require any physical or magical exhaustion because of the way they're made.
Starting from the lowest:
Blue grade
Green Grade
Purple Grade
Orange Grade
But there are special ancient weapons that can be classified higher than Orange grade weapons.
Those very rare items. There's only about a handful of people who have acquired this kind of weapon since the weapon chooses the wielder in this case.
Additionally, the legendary weapons are often in the form of a high-class celestial being and defeating it is constantly a difficult task. And to make it even more difficult – you need to solo win the fight – otherwise, the celestial weapon won't recognize you as their wielder.
A student at a normal Magic school will get blue grade weapons since it's cheap and efficient.
But some families offer their kids some green grade weapons since it's just a matter of money.
The purple grade weapons are rarer and difficult to get, even for rich families since the materials for crafting those are very rare minerals only to be found in the demon realm.
The weapons can be either custom crafted or bought in a merchant store in the city.
As for weapons, there are many forms in which you can buy them:
Gun
Staff
Sword
Dagger
Grimore
Spheres
Those are the basic weapon forms you can find in normal stores. But people often prefer custom made ones, since they are more durable and the form can be customized. 'Quality over Quantity'– it's everywhere the same.
"In the west and east, we have the boys and girls dormitories. The school ground is accessible to all genders, but trespassing the female grounds will lead to severe punishment as we have a set of rules regarding those matters. Of course, you can visit the girls, but you need to get permission from your homeroom teacher."
"Okay. No problem. I understand the meaning of these procedures."
"Glad you understand"
"Well, let's proceed.
In the south part, we have the cultivation and dungeons. From there, you can travel to the lowest sector of the god or demon realms to fight off some low-level monsters. But it won't be a big matter as you are a freshman. The dungeons are for second and third-year students. Therefore you won't have any access to the portals.
Speaking of access ...
Here is your student ID.", the lady took out a small silver card and handed it to Sun.
"Sun Reed
Class 1 A
Homeroom teacher: Ms. Camille
Student Level: Basic Level 1"
"Miss, what's my Student Level?", Sun asked after speculating for a few seconds.
"Oh right, your Student Level. It is basically your level of access to certain resources. For example books in the library. Since you're a freshman, you can only access to basic books, which aren't dangerous."
"I see."
...
While they were walking and talking about the school, the sun already went down and the dark-blue colored sky started to swallow the reddish sunset.
...
"Well then, I shall be going. I wish you the best with your studies here.", then the lady left without any further ado.
Sun just realized the sky got darker than before. He was just too into the topic of the school that he forgot the time.
Since there's nothing left to do, he decided to head back to check, whether the other roommates have already arrived.
On the way back, he thought about Rose. He asked himself whether she arrived or not.
"Maybe I should search for her?"
But this idea quickly dissolved into nothing.
This school may be small compared to others, but still so big that Sun could get lost.
...
By the time he arrived at the front door of the villa, it was already dark outside.
His mood went up after seeing light from the inside.
"Well, it's time to greet my new roommates!"
After opening the door, a sudden flash of light quickly dashed towards Sun.
Sun was startled for a second but reacted quickly enough to dodge it by a hair.
"Great. You passed the test. Now you may enter the house.", a very savage-like voice sounded from the inside.
"The f*ck?! 'You may enter' ?! You nearly killed me!", Sun was furious.
"Relax, that was just light magic. Not like it's going to hurt you.", the savage voice answered.
"By the way, who are you?"
"Me? I'm Sun Reed. A student living here."
"Ah, Sun. You got some nice reflexes. We need to duel some other time."
"Uhm, sure, but who are you?"
"I'm Evan Waal, also living here. Looks like we're goddamit roommates!"
"Yeah, I guess."
"Wait–"
"..."
"You're human?"
"Yes"
"Lol"
"Is that such a big surprise? I thought the government already cleared the human origins and the misunderstandings and discrimination."
"No problem. Just never seen a human before. Only in the news."
From the looks of the other person, he must be from a rich family. His brand clothing and aura is different from the other Ethers (Ethers = Esperian Mages, Esperia= normal citizen of Esperia).
His muscular body added the spice to his enormous aura.
The Waal family are part of the great five families in Esperia. They own the orb production company and specialize in portal orbs. Using their newest inventions, people can use teleportation easier than ever before and this is only one of their achievements. The Waal family is unrivaled in terms of orb technology and essential to Esperia.
Therefore their family is counted as one of the five. They stand on the top of the food chain.
"Well, did you see the other guy around? He seemed to have already unpacked his things.", Sun asked after carefully observing the living room he's currently standing in.
"Well, I'm not sure. He must have already left before I came here.", Evan said.
"By the way. Why is your name so strange?"
"Huh? You mean the 'Sun' part?"
"Yeah"
"Because I'm a half Chinese. I got it from my father. I'm not sure if you're knowledgeable about human culture."
"Chinese? Is that some kind of race between humans?"
"Yeah, you could say that."
"So you're normally called 'Sun'"
"Right. Should I call you Evan or Waal?"
"Evan is fine by me. I like you, pal. You're no less the first and best human I've seen so far. Plus – you dodged my attack earlier making me want to fight you even more!"
"Evan, what Soul Origin is yous?",
"Mine is from a fire god called Ra. You may have heard about him."
"Wow, a humanoid-class Soul origin."
"What's yours?"
"Mine is Lucifer – King of Demons."
"Dude. This sounds OP as f*ck. I like it!"
"Thanks."
...
"Ay, would you guys stop shouting? Don't you see me trying to sleep?"
Evan and Sun both startled by hearing the voice. It was very gentle, unlike Evan's savage voice.
"Who are you – wait, no – where are you?"
"I'm up here~"
Both looked up to the ceiling and saw a blonde guy sticking to the top.
The scene was too bizarre. The guy sticking to the ceiling was half naked and wore a striped sleeping hat.
He had long and silky hair, like the hair of a girl and his face was charming.
If Evan and Sun were girls, they would be head over heels for him, but since they're guys ...
–He looks gay–
–Yeah, I get you, man–
"WAIT, who're you calling GAY? I think you guys are GAY!"
"YOU", both Evan and Sun answered simultaneously.
"Come down. Why are you even up there in the first place?", Sun asked.
By that time, he found his roommates rather strange, but not in a bad way.
*Woosh*
The blonde guy glided down flawlessly, like a bird.
"My name is Edward Howson. Pleased to meet you, my new comrades."
"Likewise"
"Yeah"
"Do you always sleep like this?", Sun asked.
"No, only when I need to communicate with my Soul Origin.
Speaking of Soul Origins, I heard you guys got some Origins equally to mine, which is great because I don't tolerate my comrades being inferior to me.
By the way, mine is Zivilyn, a deity of time. "
"Time? Is that an element?"
"Indeed. Time can be considered a special attribute of the elements. Space goes into the same category."
"Amazing. We got some powerful people here. I'm fired up to fight you two!", Evan's eyes lit up with flames of excitement.
The Howson family is known for its powerful characters in their family. The Howson family has a very long bloodline and even dates back to the first generation of Ethers.
Their family has produced countless talented mages who contribute to the fights between the realms.
Very influential and also on the top of the food chain.
"Sure. But let's head to bed for now. Tomorrow will be the entrance ceremony and from what I've heard – it's exhausting, so I'll better be prepared", Edward said to the two.
"This Edward guy seems not to be a bad person. A bit strange, but acceptable.", Sun thought at this moment about him.
After short introductions, all three of them hit the sack and the lights eventually turned off.
While trying to sleep, Sun thought about his roommates.
Evan was always fired up and a bit stubborn on the contrary, Edward seemed like an analytical and calm person.
Sun found his roommates not SO bad –it could've been worse.
Lost in thoughts regarding his future life in this school, Sun eventually fell asleep.
