As Goku and Wukong walked out into the arena, the audience deafened them with cheers as they eagerly awaited the start of the next match.
"AND HERE THEY ARE LADIES AND GENTLEMEN! SON GOKU AND SUN WUKONG!"
The duo reacted amicably to the crowd's adoration towards them, with Wukong nodding politely back at them, and Goku waving and smiling. At the announcers signal though the applause came to an end, and he stated,
"NOW THEN! THE MOMENT YOU'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR, THE STAGE UPON WHICH THEY WILL FIGHT!"
As he said that the list of locations flashed and lit up, before settling upon the one they would be fighting in.
"AND IT'S THE SOLITARY MONASTERY!"
The announcer cried out as the the image of an abandoned and decrepit monastery appeared, which stood alone on the peak of a sheer drop. Along with the image was a notice stating that this arena forbid flight, right before Goku and Wukong were teleported there suddenly.
"Wow it's so creepy here..." Goku uttered as he looked at the area around them, before his teeth began to clatter as he stuttered, "A-and c-c-cold t-too!"
Wukong just smirked as he watched Goku shiver in the freezing cold wind, while his own robes not only acted as his armor, but also helped in regulating his body for the area around him. Wether he was in the hottest desert, or the frozen tundra, he would stay nice and comfortable.
Even as Goku was shivering, the announcer cried out,
"FIGHTERS READY?"
The duo quickly took their respective stances, despite the cold winds.
"FIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!"
The very second the fight began, both Goku and Wukong moved as they swung their respective staves at each other with the exact same movement.
*KABOOOM!!*
The force of the impact created a shockwave that fractured the stone buildings and walls around them, while entire chucks fell off into the abyss below.
"You're strong!" Goku exclaimed as he and Wukong stalled while their respective staves were pushing against the other.
"Well thank you, as are you young one." Wukong replied with a cheeky smile.
Ever since he lost against Alex in the battle that had been recorded as 'Ragnarok', and had his youth restored, Wukong had been training to increase his strength so he didn't fall further and further behind his student. However he could tell that Goku was just testing the waters before he got serious, as he hadn't even used his SSJ transformation.
But the semantics of the battle didn't register in Wukong's mind at that moment, as instead he decided to enjoy fighting against his opponent. And based off the cheeky grin on his face, Goku was having the same thought as the two broke contact and moved to strike each other once again as the battle escalated.
"WUKONG DOES A DOUBLE BACKFLIP!"
"GOKU DEFENDS!"
"WHICH IS THE REAL ONE?!"
"OOH, THATS GOTTA HURT!"
The scene before them, along with the announcers running commentary, had nearly everyone on the edge of their seats in anticipation, with both Goku and Wukong moving so fast that the projection needed to be slowed slightly so they could see what was going on.
Goku and Wukong meanwhile had large grins plastered on their faces as they continued to fight, both possessing skills and strength that could've ended it a while ago, but both choosing not to use them as they instead tried to beat the shit out of the other in little more than a brawl with sticks.
Up in his VIP room Alex was smiling as well as he watched the scene below, recalling as he did the original Dragon Ball series, where the fights were all settled with strength AND skill instead of just power levels and screaming. Goku also seemingly recalled the way he felt back then as well, as he locked staves with Wukong once more, with the tip of his pointed at the former Monkey King, as he said,
"Try this! Extend!" The next thing Wukong knew, the tip of Goku's staff went flying directly at him as it extended endlessly.
Needless to say that Wukong was not used to being the one on the receiving end of that particular trick, as the tip of Goku's staff impacted him and drove him back, through the crumbling wall, and out over the edge of the precipice.
"Heehee, give up?" Goku taunted the older monkey playfully, to which he responded,
"Not yet!"
Wukong then surprised everyone as he dropped from the end of the staff that was keeping him from falling, and began to plummet into the abyss below.
"HAS WUKONG GIVEN UP!?! IS THIS THE END OF THE LINE FOR THE MONKEY KING!?!"
The announcer shouted as the audience clenched their fists, willing Wukong to somehow make a comeback. However, despite his apparently hopeless situation, the smirk never left Wukong's face.
Instead, illusionary wisp of golden vapor began to appear around his feet, before they condensed to form an actual cloud that supported his weight, and carried him back up to safety.
"Hey! That's not fair!" Goku exclaimed, since the rules said they were restricted from flying.
His comment made Wukong pause, as both waited to hear if anything would be said about it or not.
Meanwhile, outside the arena the commentators, Anne, Azazel, Ajuka, and The Grand Supreme Kai, were discussing that very thing to determine if it should be allowed or not. Eventually they made a decision, which was whispered to the announcer to reveal.
"AND THE COMMENTATORS HAVE DECIDED, THAT SUN WUKONG'S FLYING CONTRAPTION DOES NOT BREAK THE RULES! THE ONLY TOOLS AND ITEMS BANNED ARE HEALING ITEMS, THEREFOR IF ONE POSSESSES AN ITEM THAT ALLOWS THEM TO FLY IT IS ALLOWED!"
Though there was a mixed response from the audience at the declaration, the people who agreed with the ruling far overshadowed those who disagreed. Meanwhile Wukong and Goku also heard the decision in the Monastery, making the older monkey smirk as he darted around Goku in circles.
"Come and get me boy!"
Frowning at the taunt, Goku answered by firing numerous blasts of energy at his opponent, which Wukong either dodged or deflected with his staff like it was a bat.
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
*BOOM!*
Explosions echoed as each sphere of energy detonated, some lighting up the skies like deadly fireworks, while others were reflected back at the monastery.
Goku's teeth clattered from each attack of his that was reflected back at the monastery, destroying more and more of it as massive chunks and slabs fell into the abyss below.
"You know, you should really be more careful with your footing." Wukong told him suddenly, confusing him until the elderly monkey suddenly swung his staff AT the mountain itself.
"Enlarge!" Wukong cried out mid-swing, makings the staff grow until it was the size of a large building.
Then entire mountain shook as Wukong's attack took out a massive chunk of it, leaving the entire thing balancing precariously. Then, after it shrunk back to its usual size, Wukong aimed his staff like it was a pool stick before saying, "Lengthen!"
The staff shot out without leaving Wukong's hands, extending to an impossibly long length in less than a second, and smashing a sizable hole through the small part of the mountain still holding the monastery up.
"HEY!"
"Shorten, lengthen!" Wukong cried out despite Goku's protests, making his staff shrink before it shot forward once again, taking out another large chunk of the mountain.
"Shorten, lengthen!"
"Shorten, lengthen!"
Over and over again Wukong struck the mountain with the tip of his staff, destroying more and more of it in less than a minute until finally, the scant remains rock began to give way.
*crrrrrrr-*
With a low groan, accompanied by the sound of stone shattering, the entire peak of the mountain with what remained of the monastery began to topple over, taking Goku with it as it began to plummet into the abyss.
"No faaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiir!" Goku cried out as he fell, not at all wanting to be eliminated from the tournament like this.
But as he fell, Goku noticed something as he looked up at Wukong, or rather what he was standing on.
"Haaaaaaaaaa...." Taking in a deep breath, Goku then shouted as loudly as possible,
"FLYING NIMBUUUUUUUUUUUUUUS!!!"
No one knew what Goku was doing, no one but his closest friends who knew him before he could fly, but as he was about to fall through the abyss and be disqualified, a living piece of cloud appeared out of nowhere.
"Yeah!" Goku exclaimed happily as he landed on the cloud, before it shot up towards Wukong as he took a stance on it.
"I knew I could count on you buddy!" Goku praised the flying nimbus, which puttered happily at being praised and ridden for the first time in a while.
And while everyone is shocked at the sudden development, none are more shocked than Wukong himself, who can't believe what he is seeing. Though it takes a moment, realization dawns on him and he says as Goku approaches,
"So you're the me of this universe, huh?" Goku just tilts his head in confusion at that, not understanding what Wukong is talking about, so he explains,
"According to Alex, in the different universes there are different versions of certain people. One example you might know about would be that Frost fella he killed a while back." When Wukong mentions Frost Goku suddenly looks like he gets it, as he says,
"So you and me are the same people from different universes, like Frieza and Frost?" Wukong nodded as he said,
"That's right, and I'm willing to bet that little brat knew about it and didn't say anything."
As Wukong said that, Alex was suddenly the center of attention in the VIP room, to which he simply said,
"Hey, I can't spoil EVERYTHING in the Omniverse. Plus we're already on speaking terms with TWO Hestia's, how is THIS surprising?" The numerous girls shrugged as they acknowledged Alex's point, though the odd one out, Heles, couldn't help but be somewhat confused by what he was talking about. Then again, she swiftly lost interest once Alex resumed pounding away on her cervix, brining her more pleasure than any of the lovers she had taken in her life.
Back in the match Goku took a moment to ponder what Wukong was saying, before he told him,
"Well.... I don't quite understand the complicated stuff, but I do know that you can't run away anymore!" Saying so as he took an offensive stance, Goku shot forward at Wukong suddenly to resume their battle.
Now however the match turned into a game of cat and mouse as Goku chased Wukong around the arena, before the latter split into a dozen copies that scattered. Instead of being disoriented though, Goku immediately chose one clone in particular to chase after while ignoring the rest.
"Are you sure that's the real me?" One of the Wukong clones asked tauntingly, to which Goku replied,
"Nope! But if I beat it up then I know to go after another one!" As he said that Goku sent a blast of energy at the Wukong he was following, blowing it out of the sky even as he swiftly switched targets.
"Huyah!" The ten free clones cried out as they all encircled Goku, intending to surround him as he focused on the one.
"Gotcha!" Goku exclaimed as he suddenly grabbed one specific Wukong, and threw him out into the open air.
"Huh...!?!" Wukong uttered as he fell, before he passed through the abyss and was disqualified.
"AND SUN WUKONG FALLS OUT OF BOUNDS! SON GOKU WINS!"
As the announcement rang out the duo were brought back to the colosseum, where they were showered in cheers from their fans.
"How'd you know which was the real me?" Wukong asked Goku as they exited the arena, to which Goku replied as he pointed at his nose with a cheeky smile,
"You were the only one who smelled!"
Not at all expecting that answer, Wukong hesitantly sniffed his robes to see if he did in fact smell.
As he was doing that, the announcer cried out,
"AND NOW WHO ELSE IS READY FOR THE NEXT MATCH?! CAUSE I KNOW I AM!"
And as the audience cheered the announcer pointed to the list of participants, which flashed for half a moment before settling onto two names.
"MIL-TAN VERSUS PIKKON!"
Those who had become really big fans of Pikkon exploded in excitement as the two aforementioned fighters entered the arena, though the man himself appeared completely neutral to their cheers.
"Mil-Tan is so excited to be your opponent mr Pikkon!" Mil-Tan said to him energetically, to which Pikkon stoically replied,
"You shouldn't be." Ignoring Mil-Tan after saying that, Pikkon heard the announcer say the name of the location they would be fighting, before he and his next opponent were transported there.
The sound of crashing waves filled his ears as the duo found themselves on a tropical beach covered in white sand and palm trees as far as they could see.
"Ooh! Maybe we got sent on a vacation instead!" Mil-Tan said happily while seemingly forgetting they were supposed to be fighting, until the announcer cried out,
"FIGHTERS READY? FIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT!"
"Mr Pikkon is really strong, so I'm going to go all out from the start!" Mil-Tan exclaimed while brandishing its wand.
"TRANSF-"
*BOOM!*
Without waiting for it to complete its transformation, Pikkon backhanded Mil-Tan with enough force that it's face was caved in while being sent skipping over the water.
"A-AND PIKKON WINS!" The announcer said after a second, when it was apparent that Mil-Tan was not going to resurface.
Within a couple minutes after being sent away, Pikkon found himself back in the colosseum where he was greeted by the obnoxious cheers. Scoffing at them, he then turned his back and exited the arena without pausing to see if his opponent was ok.
"W-WELL THAT WAS OVER QUICKLY, BUT LETS HOPE THE NEXT MATCH MAKES UP FOR IT! PRESENTING...... BARDOCK VERSUS KRILLIN!"
