The next day he took the money his wife kept in her hidden safe and prepared for their funeral. The funeral over, he decided to move on, He will have to sell the house, the house was already too big for only him and he needed the money to start up a small business and grow it.
He never wasted time with his wife's burial since she was an orphan, there was no one to inform about her sudden death, therefore, by the eight day she was buried in a private cemetery.
Taking the little cash out he found the house documents and proceeded to search for a buyer on the internet also he searched for a one bedroom apartment that he could move to once he found a buyer for his house and so just like that the eight day was gone.
Come the ninth day some buyers indicated interest and he had to go for a single guy because he taught it would be easy to buy it back from him if offered the right sum but if he was a married man or woman it will be difficult for them to sell the property back, he can attest to this since he was married before, and he could only want to sell this place now because he no longer had a family.
He never knew that was his nailing, for the young man was a fraudster. Their agreement went thus: I am not in the country, please but I will be returning home soon that's why I need the house I will wire you the asking price for the house and you can then hand over the documents to my friend will that be okay? and Mr. Edet Paul agrees.
That is fine then once my friend come there and signs all the papers then he will wait for me to wire you the money once you acknowledge payment he will then leave agreed?
Yes, that will be fine. Mr. Edet agrees and so it was fixed for 6 pm that day.
He then busied himself by going on to rent for himself a little apartment in other for him to leave once the payment was made.
The fraudster sent some guy by the name Usman to come and get the document for him, the lanky guy arrived at the appointed time and introduced himself as Usman a friend of the buyer.
They both went through all the house documents and he signed ownership for his friend then they called the buyer to tell him the house was now his and he could make the transfer, he asked them to give him ten minutes.
Soon Mr. Edet Paul Edet received an alert on his mobile, it was a credit alert showing payment for the house and he was elated this sum can do a lot of things for him.
He acknowledged the payment and the buyer's friend Usman left while silently grinning to himself, this deal was easy and the buyer mighty stupid. The boy deity watch as Mr. Edet locked the gates behind him and handed the keys to the house and the gates to Usman and both of them went their separate paths.
It was already late in the day when the deal went down, so he got himself some takeaway food and went straight to his new home ate and then started preparing for his next move, he taught to himself to still try and see if he could get his goods from the Ports authority by bribing his way through, therefore he decided to take half a million from the money from the house from the bank tomorrow and see if the agent will take it and help him get his good.
He woke up the next day properly energized to start another journey of his life, he left his apartment and headed to the bank after fixing an appointment with the agent at the Ports.
In the bank, he wrote out a check for the sum of five hundred and fifty thousand and once it was his turn he handed the check to the cashier who smiled and welcomed him warmly.
The cashier then logged in to his account on her screen and frowned then she took a sneak peek at him and saw that he was seriously waiting, she taught that this might be some kind of trick so she checked his previous balance and saw that he used to have large sums of money in his account, maybe the money he is expecting has not yet reflected.
The cashier turned to him Mr. Edet are you expecting money yes?
Yes I got the alert yesterday for eighteen million two hundred thousand but I just want that to run a few errands today, he replied.
The pretty cashier frowned more and said but your balance here is just fifty five thousand sir there is no such amount in your account sir.
What!!? what do you mean? I don't understand.
Sir, you can take a look for yourself the cashier invited him into her booth so he could take a look at their own record on the computer screen.
After he looked, his hands began to shake violently and he shakily brought out his mobile phone from his pocket and opened the credit alert he supposedly got from the bank, which he then showed to the cashier.
She looked at him pitifully and said in a very soft voice oh my God sir! you have been scammed.
His whole world came crashing down on his head, and he wailed out loud and startled other customers in the banking hall, the bank manager had to come and take him into his office and asked him what the problem was, then he asked him to call the person that was supposed to forward the money to him perhaps the money reverted, however, the number was unavailable.
His heart broke, he said in between wails that he sold his last property to that person only to be conned.
What am I to do now? he asked no one in particular.
Why not inform the police to have their eyes on the property in other to catch anyone who occupies it, then they can take it from there you know if anyone gets to get into the house they must have bought it from someone right?
Don't worry oga manager, I know where my problem is coming from Mr. Edet suddenly announced.
(:-)
You do?
Yes, I do! my village people are seriously after me, on seeing the blank face of the manager he proceeded to explain to him his ordeal for over ten days now.
And the little boy deity clapped his hands in glee, his work was done.
