Lara's POV
Well, I'm glad that's finally over. I feel like I've gone through ten of our old assembly rituals. These humans are really admirable, they can sit through such a long and boring pep rally as they call it.
After getting through the crowds of students, finding my locker, and organizing all my things, I finally got to my first class of the day: science. The classroom was still pretty empty so I quickly found a seat by the window. I look around and noticed that the teacher isn't here yet and the four students that are here are keeping their head down, sleeping. Huh.
Not too long after, the teacher came in with a bunch of other students who looked a bit rushed. Well, there's only two minutes left till class starts after all. Our teacher is a male who looks about thirty years old with dark brown hair and eyes. He's dressed neatly and cleanly, in human words: a nerdy, but handsome teacher. The teacher comes in, says his greeting to the students and gives out the syllabus. The rest of the classes went the same way. During lunch I ate with Lina and Lana. I finally feel excited when its time for my last class: music/choreography.
The classroom was large, unlike normal classrooms. There was a grand piano at the center facing the door and about thirty chairs on the long, curved riser that stretched across a whole side of the room, facing its back to the door. There was already a lot of students-mostly girls-sitting on the chairs and loudly chatting about their summers. I quietly sat down at an empty chair with my student planner, a notebook, and a pencil. Since there was a couple of minutes before class starts, I took out my notebook and continued writing lyrics to a new song I thought up yesterday.
"Good afternoon class! And welcome back to school!"
A very loud voice startled me out of my lyric writing trance. I look up and saw a beautiful woman in her thirty's cheerfully smiling at us. She gaze goes from one end to the other and lands on me.
I smile a little smile at her, unsure. Was there something on my face? Or my clothes?
She looks away after a while and addresses the class.
"Now then, first let's start with introductions. Some of you know me from middle school if went to Lunar Middle School, but most of you didn't so I'll start us off. I'm Ms. Shirley and I've been teaching for eight years both here and at Lunar Middle School. Now Abby you go next."
"Hello everyone, I'm Abby and I love all things related to music and dance."
As the students introduce themselves one by one down the row, I look through the information I have on them in my head. All of us actually already have most of the information about all the people in the school memorized. We didn't invade their privacy totally but still had to know about them somewhat. We all felt that it would be safer that way. No matter who we make friends or enemies with in the future, we would know how to defend against them finding out our secret without us being the one to tell them. Mulling over these things, I forgot where I was until a poke on my arm woke me up. I notice that it was my turn to introduce myself.
"Hello everyone. My name is Lara and I transferred from overseas with my sisters."
"Okay class, now that introductions are over, let's have some fun. You all must be bored of listening to syllabuses, right? So I'll hand these to you and trust that you'll read over them. Now, let's have some fun."
The class cheered after hearing we don't have to listen to the syllabus yet again.
"Alright, calm down. First, let's split you into groups."
Ms. Shirley split us up into five groups of four, two of them with five members. Each group has one boy. Today's activity is singing a part of a song with the keyword she's going to give us. Whichever group wins can get a personal singing lesson from her. Apparently, she's a professional that has personally taught a student who couldn't sing to become a famous singer.
Anyways, the first keyword she gave us is water. It can be the word itself, or any body of water. For example: ocean, sea, river.
After talking quietly within our group, I write down a total of ten song titles along with the lyrics we'll sing. We easily passed this round.
The second key word is flower, or any types of flower. We lasted until the team that comes after us ran out of songs.
The third keyword is sky. Now, we can only use the actual word. This time we started first and after three rounds, the team after us ran out of songs.
The final keyword is tree. The actual word, not any types of trees. Of course, we won. The other group couldn't even come up with one song.
Ms. Shirley gave us the rest of class to just talk among ourselves and get comfortable with each other.
"So, Lara, you said you came from overseas with your sisters? Which country did you come from? How many sisters do you have? Any brothers?" asked Lizzy. Her profile said she is cheerful and chatty. That was true.
"We've been to many, but the one before coming here is France. I have six sisters and no brothers. How about you?"
"Wow! Six! I wish I had at least one. All I have is two bratty kid brothers who's still in elementary school. Since you have so many, can I have one of your sisters Lara?"
"Hahaha," we all laughed at her joke.
"How about you Laurilyn? Any siblings?"
"Yeah. I have an older sister who's in college and a little brother ten years younger than me. He's my parents oopsie baby at forty."
"Wow, your parents are amazing," said Lizzy. I nod, showing my agreement. I turn to Felix and notice that he's playing on his phone.
"What about you Felix? How many siblings do you have?" I asked him. Although I already know he has a two-faced older half-brother along with a useless father and scheming stepmother, I still ask him, because I want to befriend him and later help him.
"None."
"Oh."
There's no need to rush, I'll slowly gain his trust.
I turn around and continued talking to Lizzy and Laurilyn until class is over.
