Chapter 1 - "In the beginning, it was all black and white"

[Abi's POV]

"Abi get down here with your bags pack". Mom shouted downstairs.

"Abigail Carton get down your bags pack as we running short of time. Did you hear me"? Again mom shouted.

" Hell yeah! I am coming. Stop screaming now." I answered.

I Abigail Carton, 18-year-old reside in Vancouver, Washington correction last day, hours and minutes in Washington. I love this place as I born and bought up over here with sweet and loveable memories with my relatives, cousins and other family members.

We are moving to Seattle as my dad got a transfer. My dad named Edward Carton. He is an employee of a small firm. We are a middle-class small family. With hard feelings, I have packed my bags. Final looks on my stuff- done. My looks on the mirror - done. We got into the car.

As we're moving to Seattle, I remember grandma caressing my hair and said, "I have heard many things about this city. It is the place for artistic, liveable with beautiful mountains and also known for its evergreen".

The chains of the thoughts got broke from the screech of the car.

" Abi. Honey, get in", Mom said. "Dad will keep your luggage in", Mom opens the car door and places the bags on the seat.

The luggage was properly maintained in the car. We got ourselves to settle in. Dad started driving the car, I was looking at the cloud.

Flashbacks knock in my mind --------------

" Dad, please I don't wanna leave, Grandma", I said convincingly, at lunchtime.

"Abi", Dad said, keeping his spoon side of the plate." It's not only a good opportunity for me but also you too. You will get a place at well known University. Which will enhance your future", He explained, squeezing my hand.

"But dad, I am asking you all to go. I will leave with Grandma, I will take care of her and it will not affect my studies", I said putting more efforts to convince them.

"It's not about us to leave but to be with family. Honey, please reconsider it", Dad requested to me.

I finished lunch and was dabbing my mouth from the cloth. I saw grandma entering the dining room. I stood up and pulled the chair for her to sit. Mom was serving her food and I pouring the water for her in the glass.

"Abi, I want to talk to you. After lunch waits for me in my room", she said politely while putting a chicken chunk in her mouth.

"Okay", I said standing up and walk to her room.

A few minutes later, she entered her room and sat beside me on her bed.

" Abi, I want you to go with your parents", She requested.

"Why do you want me to go? I want to leave with you", I said her calmly.

" I know. But I want you to go and study well in Seattle, it will be good for your future. I heard that the University of Washington is good. I want you to study well and be prosperous and have a healthy future. If you will be successful, Grandma will be happy wherever I will be staying", She explained to me.

"But what about you?" I asked in concern.

"Yesterday I received a call from your aunt. She asked me to stay with them and will be coming tomorrow in the morning to pick me up", She said.

" But---"

"Don't worry about me, I will take care of myself. you know-how strong Grandma is", She laughed.

" Okay. If they try to bully you just give a call to me. I will beat the shit out of them", I said aggressively.

"Okay", she replied.

" Grandma I have a better idea. Why don't you come along with us?", I suggested to her.

"I can't come along with you. This is the place where I fell in love with your Grandpa. I got married. I got you, the moon of my life", She said pulling my cheek. " I have a house, memories, which I don't want to keep in the box but to explore them and feel it", She explained deeply in a smile.

"Okay, as you wish I will not let you down. Once I will become adult and start earning, I will come back here and take you away", I promised her.

" Sure. Do visit me in the summer vacation", She said.

"Of course, I will visit", I said.

" When you will begin your new life over there, don't be lonely, make some friends and boyfriend too. Who will love you from the bottom of his heart? " She said smiling and looked at me.

"Just like Grandpa", I snapped the finger and added.

" He will love you more than your grandpa loved me. He will be the best man for my beautiful granddaughter", She said and smile.

"Grandma you are really thinking very highly of me. There are many beautiful girls in the city. Just because I am your granddaughter you feel I am beautiful", I said and stood off the bed.

" Still you will be always beautiful for me. In the future, you will be beautiful in his eyes and will be taken care of by him", She raised her head up and said.

"Okay, I think you should take rest no", I said and tucked in bed. I walked towards the door and

" Abi", She called. "Wait I forgot to give you something. Come here", She added.

I turned around and walk towards her. She opened a table drawer beside her bed and got out a dark wooden small box.

" This is for you", She handed me the box

"What's this?" I questioned.

"Open it by yourself," she asked.

I opened the box and it's a moon keychain.

"Moon is a symbol of blessings. Grandma's blessings are always with you. I still remember you love the moon a lot", She said.

"It's beautiful, but Grandma I love stars too. Why don't you gave me stars along with this", I pouted?

" Stars. He will be your star", She mumbles very softly.

"What?" I asked her.

"Nothing. Go and pack your stuff else your mom will yell at you", She said in a hurry.

"Okay", I said and left.

The car stopped at our new house and the flashbacks end.
