The preparations for the annual function were in full swing. Students from each and every department were participating in different events and competitions arranged & hosted by various clubs. The most exciting event this year was definitely the dance competitions. And just as Xue Yao Yao predicted, Ming Yue was getting tons of requests and offers from fellow male students to be their partner. Obviously she politely rejected them all so they had no choice but to look for other partners. And as usual this was earning Ming Yue jealousy and contempt from other female students. But Ming Yue could do nothing about it. She did not ask them to propose to her.
Mingyue herself was busy with arranging the hacking competition that was going to happen. This hacking event had been ongoing for two years now and was hosted by the cyber club. This event was suggested to the university authorities by Ming Yue when she first entered the university and formed this special club. Although the computer science department already had their own computer club, this cyber club however was an entirely separate organisation run mainly by Mingyue and her group. Currently there were three other members who were recruited through this very hacking competition. That was why all the work for organising this event was done by the members.
The main purpose of this club was to oversee the internet security and database of the university website. Despite the university having their own security administrators, multiple crises such as students' information leaking, server hacking, and important data being stolen etc had occurred highlighting the incompetents. To get approval from from university higher ups they created an strong IDPS* and MFA* system to protect the network security. Since then these types of threats had been reduced. They also had created a software system which acted like a digital assistant; by using that software it increased the work efficiency by 10th fold. All these things impressed the higher ups so much that they made this exclusive club for Ming Yue and her team. They also provided a dedicated space for the cyber club to conduct their activities. Since then this club had existed. They were not open to all like other clubs in the school. Only by special recruitment like annual hacking event would one join this club. Although this club was responsible for cyber security it did not usually step up unless there was an extreme crisis.
Right now the four girls were heading towards the club house. Meanwhile inside the clubhouse room a heated discussion was going on.
"I do not think a lot of people would join this hacking event this year." A guy named Tao Zhang said. He had quite a nerdy appearance with soft curly hair and a charming face. But don't go about his looks, deep down he was a total gossipy person altogether; always in the know about the campus news or latest tech trends. But at the same time he was very much talented in coding. His expertise laid in the data analyst field and he was in the second year of the computer science department.
"Why do you think so?" asked a girl whose name was Li Yulan while arranging some documents across the table in front of him. She was also from the same year as Tao Zhang and was the communication co-ordinator of the club. The girl had a sweet and endearing appearance very suitable for her name.
"Can't you see? Most of the students this year will obviously go for that dancing event. Huh!" - Tao Zhang snickered and replied to Yulan.
"Well you are not wrong, I am already seeing people lining up outside the dance club to give their names along with their partners. And others are still approaching their desired ones." - Yulan said.
"That's why this year's participant numbers are not going to be high. Even our department's students are going there." - Tao Zhang sighed.
"You are right." - Yulan nodded in agreement.
"Especially the fourth year seniors are fervently pursuing this because this is going to be their last year." - Tao Zhang glanced up from his seat and turned his gaze in a specific direction at a certain someone.
Yulan, not understanding his hint, replied back- " Well yes that's a given." suddenly she also had an epiphany and looked towards the same direction as Tao Zhang. She then leaned forward and said in a hushed voice- "Do you think senior Huang got proposed by girls this time?"
Tao Zhang made a face as if to say that it was the stupidest question he had ever heard. He said in a low voice- "Is this even something to ask? He must have gotten tons. He is the most popular guy in 4th year, heck you can say even in the whole department."
The guy they were talking about was none other than Jiang Huang, the senior most member of the cyber club. He was a fourth year student, hailing from the computer science department. He was a very popular guy in the school. Not only was he good at academics, he was also a very good hacker as well. As for his appearance, he was also one of the most handsome male in the list of school grass. So undoubtedly he would get tons of requests from girls to be their partners. But Jiang Huang was very aloof and introverted in nature. Although it's Tao Zhang who looked like a typical nerd, his personality is totally different. It's Jiang Huang who was the nerd. He was always in front of the computer. If not then he would be in the library studying. Jiang Huang was the very first member to join this club after being first in the hacking event when it was first hosted.
"Nobody has been able to shake our monk of a senior until now. I wonder if there will be any girl in future who would take this aloof one down." Yulan said to Tao Zhang.
"Maybe there will be one, who knows." Tao Zhang contemplated.
