Chapter 2 - The Game and G-Frag

The inside of the dome is also quite magnificent. All the runes, celestial bodies and creatures that were present on the outer surface of the dome are also present on the inner surface of the dome.

But there is a major difference between the outer surface and inner surface. The runes and celestial bodies are stationary while the creatures were roaming around.

There is a single lighted path with leads to the centre of the dome. Both sides of the path is completely dark.

I can hear the roars and growls of the the creatures as we walk towards the centre. In the middle of the dome there are two seats and a big screen.

The man who's figure was on the top of the dome was now floating above the big screen. He is wearing a golden coloured hat, yellow shirt and orange half coat matched with linen jeans.

He is smiling at us who are working towards him and as soon as we reached near him he opened his mouth which nearly ruined his sauve looks.

"Yaahoo!! Took you long enough to reach here. Now then, you are curious right? Don't tell me your not? You should be curious, if you are not then you are not living your youth properly."

We both turn speechless at his monologue. A person with such good looks should not have personality issues, right?

Koyori picked up the courage and tried to ask him.

"Who are you ?"

"Such good question. Now listen carefully.

I am no one yet everyone.

I am no wherever yet everywhere.

I am weak yet strong.

And I am a fool yet a sage."

I take my thoughts back. He is really lost cause. Such a waste of good looks and moreover he answered in the poem. How are we going to know the answer now. So this time I am going to ask him another question.

"Who built this dome?"

"Me"

"And how are we here?"

"That's because I brought you here."

"Now final question. Where is this place?"

"This planet is in the middle of the space."

"What!? Planet!!"

"Yes, you are surprised, right?"

We both got shocked by this small conversation. Let's summarise what he said.

According to this person we are on a planet which is in middle of the space, this mysterious crystal dome was built by him and he was the one who brought us here.

If a person has this much power and combined with what he said earlier, doesn't that mean he is....

"Are you God?" Koyori asked him.

"I am yet I am not" He answer with a grin.

I control myself to not lose temper and give him a punch. I took a few deep breaths and then courteously asked him again.

"Can you please tell us what you mean by that and please don't use poetry again."

"Ah! It can't be helped." He sighed once and then suddenly turned serious.

"Tanaka Kouki, 17 years old, male and Tanaka Koyori, 15 years old, female. The things that you two are now going to see will decide your future so pay atmost attention."

I became slightly happy on seeing him serious and started paying attention to the big screen which he is fiddling with.

The screen starts playing a vide. In the middle of the screen there is a golden crown rotating slowly. The man who is flouting in front of the screen also appears within the video but he looks somewhat different.

"Hello contestants. Welcome to the successors game. Yes, you heard it right it is a game although it has the power to change your life.

I am the God and I am the organiser of this game. You should be thinking that I am present with you but I am not. That is a mere fragment of myself which will be your personal host throughout the game.

There are large number of fragments and so the large number of contestants. Each fragment has a different personality so it will depend on your fate which one you will encounter.

You shall compete with others to obtain the final prize which is the right to become my successor."

The floating man, who is god's fragment, pause the video at this time which gave us time to consider what he said.

"Aren't you lucky that I am your host."

Lucky? More like unlucky. But still a Game to decide Successor. God really has a crazy idea. This man who is our host is god's fragment, huh.

"What should I call you ?"

"Anything you want. I am only your host for the game and after the game is over I will merge with the main body again. So I don't really know have a use for a name. You can think of one."

Koyori chimed at this moment.

"Then, how about G-FRAG ?"

"G-FRAG?"

"Yes, since you are God's- FRAGment."

"Since you want to call me that then it's fine, please take care of me."

"Yes, likewise, please take care of yes.

Hey, wait, we still have a lot of questions and we haven't agreed to participate in the game."

"But you have. Here, see, this contract has your and this lady's signature."

Huh!? When he did he got our signatures? And isn't it the first time we have heard about the game. I tried to carefully probe him.

"When did we sign the contract?"

"Hahahaha! Don't joke around. Didn't you guys sign it in the book store where we first met."

"Huh!? Bookstore? I don't remember."

"Neither do I." Koyori also spoke.

"Hmm.... It seems I accidentally did a memory erasal on you two. It can't be helped now even the great me can also make mistakes."

After saying this he spread his hand while sighing helplessly. I really want to give him good beating at this moment but thinking that he is our host for the game I buried my anger deep in my heart.

"Then can you please tell us more about the game now since you accidentally cast memory erasal on us."

"It can't be helped. You are a participant of the Successor game but still you are so weak that you can't even resist a weak skill like that, your future will not be bright if didn't become stronger soon."

The nerves of head start twitching after hearing what he said. I really want to retort here that you have a fragment of god's power how can mere human defend against your skill.

He resumed the video that he paused earlier so we start paying attention to the screen. God starts explaining further.

"The planet on which you are standing will be your personal planet throughout the game. It will act as your residence and safe house. Other people can't attack your planet neither you can attack their.

Once you exit this crystal dome, a black tower in the sky although it will only look like a block needle to you since are right now too far from it. Travel towards the tower as the final will be played in the tower.

Yes, you are thinking correct, that tower is floating is the middle of the multiverse. And I am waiting on the top of tower for my successor.

But no matter how strong you can become on your own, you will still need help of others. So go on, build the best team you can make which can take care of every situation you face.

Defeat your opponents, gain more companies and strength, strive to become the strongest, then come meet me at the the top of the tower and snatch the successor position with your own hands."

He paused and smiled faintly before speaking again.

"You can get more details from your host. He will answer all your questions. But he can only answer as much your authority is."

That means we have to keep depending on G-FRAG. How much I wish that his personality improves a bit.

"I will be waiting for you."

He ended his explanation with that and the screen went blank. I looked up only to find G-FRAG sleeping. Will we be fine with him as our host? I guess only time can tell.

"Brother, looks like we got caught the middle of something huge."

"Yes, so what do you want to do. He doesn't say that something will happen to us if we don't do anything. If you feel uneasy then we will not do anything and surrender."

"But brother, what do you want to do?"

I opened my mouth but words doesn't come out. How can I say I want to give it a try even if it is dangerous but I am also worried about her as we don't have anyone other than each other who we can call family.

It seemed that Koyori saw through my confusion as she confidently said.

"I want to participate together with brother and win this game."

The eyes were firm which helped me calm my mind so I decided I will definitely do my best to fulfill my sister's wish.
