Richard looks at his colleagues like he wants to ask them what they think.
But all he gets back is a bunch of shrugs.
He turns back to the Wolf: „Well I guess we can do that, nothing is speaking against it."
„Alright, then I will wait here." - Karl ((MC in case you forgot :P))
„Ok, Jake would you call the team at the Pokécenter? The Girl is still with them right?"
- Richard
Jake shrugs and replies: "No Idea but I sure hope so." *takes out the radio*
"Tessa, Tom, Evan can you hear me?"
„Yes loud and clear what's the problem guys? Everything ok on your side?" - It's Tessa on the other side quickly trying to find out why the scouting team is contacting them.
„Yes. Yes, everything is fine calm down again Tessa, please. Well, actually we met the ..." *a few moments go by*
Jake realized that calling the Pokémon in front of him the „Killer-Pokémon" is probably a bad idea if they really want to get on friendly terms with it.
„ ... the new Pokémon and- "
- „What?! That's awesome, I mean and is it really friendly? Is it smart like Lizzy told us?" - Tessa interrupts Jake. One can hear Tom telling her to let Jake finish talking before replying to him.
„Yes it is smart, and friendly well I guess we haven't talked enough to it yet. But... wait. No I mean it's sitting right in front of us here. But it will only decide to trust us if it can talk to Lizzy AND her Growlithe about it I assume?" - Jake finishes and looks at the Pokémon as if he is asking it.
Richard and Darren and Nick turning from Jake back to the Pokémon are looking for the Pokémon's reaction.
„Just Lizzy's answer is enough. I doubt her Growlithe would feel a lot different, without everybody being able to tell." - The Wolf-Hyena calmly replies with its deep voice.
Jake corrects himself: "Alright so it just wants to talk to the girl."
You can hear Tessa on the other end say: "Alright, Lizzy your time to shine. Jake and the others need your help now."
***** Lizzy's Perspective *****
(Eh what?! Since when did I become part of these radio conversations?)
I catch the radio that Tessa throws towards me.
"Ehh... hi?... what do you want to know?
(Oh right I already heard what it wants to know. It's not even here why am I so nervous? Pull yourself together Lizzy, Goddammit!)
The Pokémon replies calmly: "I only want to know from you if the Organisation these people are with really is as good as they tell me to be or if they are lying to me."
(See it's not angry or anything no reason to get excited.)
I reply as calm as I can: "Well, I only heard and read good things about them, and the people I am with are really nice."
I get no reply the Pokémon is quiet for a few seconds, before replying unenthusiastically: "Is that so? Well, that doesn't really help me, I wonder why I thought this talk would help. -"
(Ouch. That hurts, I don't understand, what did it want to know? Did I answer his question? This is confusing.)
"-ah. Sorry, it's not because of your answer. Thank you, I guess it helps in a way."
I surely look confused by now as well. I don't get what it wanted to know from me.
"Ok I'm done."
The Pokémon finishes talking and the guy from the scouting party takes hold of the radio again, I assume that I'm done as well and give Tessa the radio back.
"Thanks for your help, Lizzy."
******* Karl's Perspective ******
(Alright so I would guess that they are all trainers so each of them would have 6 Pokémon, a total of 24. Even if they are weak I doubt I can beat them all. I should try to find a peaceful solution.
Guessing from what Lizzy told me they are not evil, at least not on the surface.
I should try asking them if they have an evil Organisation in this region. If I remember correctly there was a region with 2 evil Organizations, but the chance that this one has two is low I believe, as it seems that this region doesn't even have a legendary Pokémon. Well I guess they have me now but I don't want to be so arrogant.)
If there is one maybe I can even find out what Pokémon they use.
If my thoughts during the meditation were correct I evolve through the EXP I get from certain Pokémon Types, forming into body parts that I need or that I wish for.
Which is more than Over Powered I believe?
If I know the types they use I can try to hunt or after this Disaster maybe just train against Types which are Effective against theirs.
Sounds like a plan let go with -.
"Hey! Are you still with us?"
One of the Humans is carefully waving his Hand in front if my face still about 1-2 Meter away.
"Sorry, I was lost in thought" I reply quickly after snapping back into reality
"I'm still not sure about how far I can trust you, but that helped. Can you answer me one more question? Do you Guys have a group like Team Rocket in this region? I might seem like a know-it-all but I pretty much know nothing about this region."
The guy that seems to be Jake turns to the others only to get a nod from everybody.
"Well, nothing you can compare to the big ones like Team Galactic or Rocket. They are only a bunch of misfits as of yet. Pretty much like Team Skull was on the Alolan Islands, but still smaller."
He stops talking for a second, I guess he wants to know how I react. But as of yet there still wasn't anything that really helps me, sure this helps me in the way of trusting these guys but I really don't need to trust them, all that it does right now is let me know if they are going to kill me or catch me or in the best case just let me walk. And that's it. So all that is all I got for now, just let me relax a bit. And I have no idea if they can even recognize the change of my body language.
".. uhm. Well, they call themselves Team Malbona. All they do is steal good or rare Pokémon to sell them to the highest betting person. Sounds cliche to me but who am I to judge. They haven't been that big of trouble yet, having the police solving pretty much every case. Sadly not every case though, we don't live in a fantasy world after all." - Jake turns towards Richard to check if he forgot anything important.
But Richard only adds: "Is there anything more you want to know?"
***** The Scouting Squads Perspective *****
The Pokémon moves and Beginns talking, it sadly starts really quiet so the beginning is just a bit of mumbling: "Ye..h not ...fanta... worl... sur.. ...Ok. So what kind of Pokémon do they use? I assume they use Pokémon to steal and catch those Pokémon?"
"Well, they do but they haven't specialized in anything special it seems, they just pick the ones they like I guess." - Jake quickly answers.
"Ok, I understand. I can trust you, for now at least." - the Pokémon relaxes and sits down in front of them. Alright, back to the main topic again. But first, I'm ... well. I guess I don't have a name in this Universe yet. I guess you can call me..."
*a few moments go by until the Pokémon continues speaking*
"...just call me Fenrir for now, as I don't have a name yet. What are your names?" - Karl/Fenrir tilts his head in question and looks at each one of the team members.
The Squad looks a bit irritated at the late introduction, but they haven't thought about introducing themselves until now so it only makes sense to know who one is talking to when going into a possibly longer conversation.
The team casually lines up and Richard begins talking: "Well, I'm Richard, the guy you have been talking with mostly is Jake, and the quiet ones that were standing behind me are the brothers Darren and Nick. Nice to meet you. Did you forget your old name or don't you want to use it for some reason? Sorry if this question is a bit too personal but it really interests me.
Fenrir seems like he is thinking about it for a second but a few moments later he answers: "Well, I guess my old life is pretty much over now so I guess I will leave my old name in my old life and keep it to myself. If that answers your question."
"I guess I can understand that." - Richard
Quickly after Richard finishes his answer the Fenrir continues: "So, now that we are done with the pleasantries what's the deal now? You if you are not here to catch or kill me why are you here? I guess you want to reason with me after you got intel that I'm intelligent."
Jake and Richard look at each other while Darran's and Nick's mouth opens.
"Well yeah that was the first plan and the easiest one as well, we-"
"Ok, I'm fine with it."
"-can just- wait what?"
"I said I'm fine with it. Show me where I can train, hunt and eat and I will go there I wanted to look at this world anyway. I don't want to trouble anyone, just as I don't want trouble myself. And as I obviously don't have to deal with Team,.... how were they called again?"
"Eh... Team Malbona."
"Ah. Right well, Team Malbona doesn't seem like a thread yet, so there is no need for me to deal with them yet. Which means enough time for myself and other tasks."
"Well, that was easy" - for the first time Darran says something.
Nick looks at his brother, not angry nor shocked but he doesn't seem happy about his brother's thoughtless comment.
"Oh come on Nick, he seems to be cool. No need to be on your toes that much!" - says Darran while throwing his arms up.
"I guess you are right..." - Nick replies while checking himself how Fenrir reacted.
The Pokémon really seems to be ok with the relaxed atmosphere, rather then that he even seems amused about the brotherly exchange, well as far as one can tell the expression of a Wolf-Dog-Hyena-Fenrir.
"This went even smoother than we expected it. That's great, well I guess we can show you places where we have to many Pokémon of one kind. Also, I heard you want to get stronger, maybe we can get you permission to tackle Pokémon GYMs, we may not have an Evil Team to fight against but we got GYMs and a Pokémon Leagues just like the other Regions." - Richard continues.
"Wait a second."
The team listens up, no matter how much was said the Pokémon never asked them to stop.
"You said too many Pokémon of one kind how does that happen? You don't mean places like this which are swarming with Caterpies and Weedles do you?" - Fenrir asks confused
"Yeah... that's right. No, I mean places where a Pokémon Species multiplies rapidly and way too much because their natural predator disappears, for example, a predator like you which eats Pokémon. If a certain Pokémon Type is popular with trainers they will go there and catch them, now when the disappear, the Pokémon they hunted will lose their natural enemy and multiply a lot, which is hurting their ecoSystem because the plants and such can't keep up. Do you get what I mean?"
- Richard looks at the Pokémon in doubt, since eco-systems are a bit complex, a pokémon might have problems with getting the topic even if it got such a basic and simple explanation.
"Yeah pretty much, the topic isn't that complicated. I .... no, it doesn't matter. Makes sense to me, I didn't think about trainers playing a role in all of this, but it totally makes sense. Well, sure I could help with that problem. I guess hunting them until their natural predators have recovered their numbers again is enough right?"
The whole team looks a bit baffled but snap back into reality pretty quickly, after all this Pokémon didn't surprise them for the first time just now.
"That,.. is correct again. You really are intelligent, sorry if we doubted it in the beginning." - Richard looks around if the others are living through the same reactions as he does.
"But the suggestion with the Pokémon Gyms really piqued my interest as well, would that really be ok? I mean a Pokémon tackling the GYMs on their own never was a thing before was it? It would really be nice to check my strength in a safe environment before switching to a stronger place in the wild." - the Pokémon asks
[If he sees it like that, that's great for us. We would only have to get the ok of the GYM Leaders and it could be our way to come even with Fenrir if he really will help us balance out the damage Pokémon Trainers cause unwillingly.] - Richard thinks, he continues saying:
"Well, sure we will definitely try to make that possible. That way both our parties would be happy, right? But how will we get you to the areas we would need you in? They are not really all close to each other and sending out guys to pretty much babysit and drive you around doesn't sound like a good idea, it's like a waste of resources and personal?"
Both Richard and the Pokémon start thinking, the rest of Richards Team following them in doing so moments later. Half a minute later the Pokémon looks up.
"I can read so can't you guys just tell me where it is? If I find a map somewhere I bet I can read that as well so I can find the locations without help."
"Uhm. Yeah, I guess we can do that." - Richard scratches his chin, looking up in thought, that the Pokémon can read as well as being able to read maps isn't even surprising him anymore. Hell, he would be surprised if the Pokémon would tell him that it can write as well.
"So do you guys have members in every city or village? I mean I need to check how long you need me in the area right? Or do you come to search for me after some time? By the way, where the hell do I find maps? I obviously can't carry and use one but do cities have some set up somewhere like in parks or something?"
"In Pokécenters sometimes but nowhere specific elsewhere I think. We have Members in every City though..." - Richard answers, sadly not having the right plan just like Fenrir.
Nick looks up finishing his thought process.
"Ehm Guys? I think I got an idea."
"Great! What is it then?" - the Pokémon replies immediately
Nick continues a bit startled because of the quick reply of Fenrir:
"Well, what if we would put up Maps in each City, right behind the City entrance Sign? We could add the name of the routes and the Pokémon that need to be controlled at the bottom. That way it wouldn't cost us a fortune and Fenrir could figure out where to go next and what to hunt in one go. I believe it would be hard for him to go right into the cities as well so this would help him out as well. He could also leave some sort of sign to signal us that he saw what we put up, that way we would know which area he left."
"I like that idea! That would make it easy!" - Fenrir looks excited towards Richard.
Richard shakes his hand with his index finger extended in Nicks direction, then rubbing his chin again and continuing: "Well, that is a great Idea I guess we can roll with it until we go a better solution. You can read, right? So if we figure out a better way we could just tell you by writing it on the map, we could even put it onto the next map you will head to if you mark it on the one you are currently using then."
"Great so we got a deal then? We will communicate over the City Signs and you will put up maps so I know where to go?" - Fenrir asks joyfully.
"I guess so, well this was easy nice. We will contact our Team Leader and then you will be good to go I believe."
Fenrir nodds: "Alright then you do that and I will think about anything we could have forgotten to talk about."
**** Karl's Perspective ****
[Well this went perfect. This way I will be pretty much free to roam around, I even got some sense of direction and at least the good guys will leave me in peace. I even got to keep my real name secret. You can never be careful enough, doesn't seem like it's the case here but in some stories the real name holds some kind of power so I didn't want to expose it to them, they seem nice but I prefer being careful.]
[Coming to think of careful, maybe I can show them the places where I defeated the Pokémon? As some kind of sign to show that I only have our best interests in mind? Well, if I can remember it good enough... the forest is looking pretty similar in a lot of places. Well I can try I think.]
Richard is still talking to his team leader so I will wait until he finishes. He uses a phone now, maybe the radio had trouble with the signal. Whatever the reason I can't hear what his captain says. Richard seems happy which is a good sign I believe.
Richards finishes and says: "Well, our Idea just got the green from our Captain. I think we are good to go. You are a great negotiation partner. Did you have any other ideas?"
"Well thank you, I can't be mad about you guys as well. No, nothing special I was just wondering if I could help you find any more of the Pokémon you came to save? I killed them after all, maybe I can show you some you missed?"
"That would be fantastic! If that doesn't trouble you we would greatly appreciate your help! We would just get the car and follow you then if possible? I believe we got some Pokémon food and drinks in the car as well if you need any after this trip?" -Richard asks enthusiastically pointing at their Humvee.
"That does sound interesting. I will take you on on that offer aswell. Alright follow me, I should be able to find most of the ones I killed last." - I say and turn around looking towards the forrest.
This really seems like an ideal start into a new world. Not as dark as one could have believed.
