Chapter 15 - History of Nuvia & Races

"Why don't you introduce yourself to the class, sweetie? Say your name, something you like, and something interesting about yourself," my new professor, Ms. Kyoko says while brushing her scarlet red hair to the side, along with the most seducing smirk.

Why can't I just say my name...? What if someone makes fun of me for what I like or something?

"Y-yes ma'am," I was standing in the front of the class all nervous and stuff, but I cleared my throat and I introduce myself with a clear and firm voice, "Ahem, my name is Kima Sayori, I like to relax and just have a good time. And something interesting about me...uhh...would be...umm...," I start thinking but I'm trying to think as fast as possible, so I can get out of the spotlight.

"Hi Kima! You remember me?! It's Juni!" I turn to my right and I see Juni sitting in the back waving at me wildly. Right next to her was Alma—of course, and she just yawned, she could care less about me.

I start freaking out because I can't think of anything to say.

My eyes roam around the room and everything is so high tech. The desks had their own gadgets to take notes and interact with class activities. Behind me was a board with a bigger display so everyone can watch presentations or class notes. I notice everyone's gaze back, and it makes my mind go blank, then suddenly, a girls voice is heard from the back—Ms. Kyoko says, "Did someone say something? If so, may you stand up please?"

I see a small girl rise from the back...it was Eliza, "Oh, Lady Sternbriar? You had something to say?"

"It's obvious that Kima is uncomfortable, so may we continue on with class," She says demandingly, almost as if she was ordering Ms.Kyoko.

"Yeah, who let this chump in here anyway!?" Alma shouted from across the room. Everyone broke out in laughter, except for a few people who minded their own business.

Juni looked at her with a pout on her face, and Alma was cut off from laughing her ass off as she noticed her.

I'm already getting laughed at...I just want to die from embarrassment right now, ugh. At least Eliza is here to say something to me.

I wiped the sweat off my hands while Ms. Kyoko carried on, "No worries, Lady Sternbriar. He looks so cute all nervous, I just want to gobble him up!" she said seductively.

Alma cringed when she said that and wanted to gag, while the other students just pretended not to hear that.

"Hey! What are you doing?!" Eliza gets upset at the professor as she tries to feel up on my face. I'm closing my eyes as tight as possible to try and wake up from this horrible nightmare because there is no way this is actually happening on my first day, it has to be a dream. I can feel her acrylic nails and it gave me slight chills. She stops and giggles, "You're adorable, but I have a class to teach so go ahead and sit right next to Eliza."

I then say to the class, "I hope we all can get along," I bow and rise back up.

As I'm scurrying towards the desk right next to her, I hear whispers from my classmates, "Hey isn't it that kid?" Another goes, "Yeah, that's the guy."

As usual, confusion smacked me in the face. I get to my desk and Eliza stares at me with a sour look...Ms. Kyoko overheard the rude comments that the other students were saying, and she silences them, "Alright everyone, settle down. Apparently, you've all heard the rumors about Kima enrolling here, but he is still your classmate."

Oh, I forgot to mention that this is my professor...Veronica Kyoko aka Ms.Kyoko, she's a half-demon succubus. Despite her indecent acts among the students, she is admired by all, not only for looks but she's an excellent teacher. Well...according to Eliza, but she looks pissed.

Eliza suddenly lifted her spirits on her own. She says, "Well, well, well... Look who decided to finally show up. I had a feeling you would turn tail last minute," Eliza sat elegantly beside my desk, despite that cheeky remark.

"Oh shut it, I was actually excited," I said.

"I'm just teasing you," she snickers.

"Pft, you're a jokester aren't ya? Under all that elegance, you just can't help but get out of character and be yourself, huh?" I whispered and chuckled.

"I-...ugh, don't expose me like that, it's weird!" She retorts, and I hold in my laughter so I wouldn't draw any attention.

We both swiftly avert our attention to the front like everyone else, and the professor starts to talk, but I just can't help but talk to Eliza, "Hey... I was wondering, what's your Art class again? I don't remember you telling me that." I whisper close enough, so she could hear me without interrupting the class.

"Glad you asked, if it wasn't obvious enough, I'm a Gunslinger, and I use the infamous Sternbriar Arts style to fight." Pride filling her voice as she continues on, "It's a type of fighting style my family has used and passed down through generations. Like I said, if it wasn't obvious enough, I carry these bad boys with me all the time."

With a flick of her wrist, she reveals her weapons, that rested underneath her skirt, and I can hear and see her tapping on the family crest with her finger. I ask, "So if you use a family style, who trained you?" Eliza opened her eyes as if she was taken back by the question. "O-oh, um, that's..." Eliza avoided all eye contact when trying to respond, but quickly after, I feel a sharp jolt of pain hit my forehead.

"OW! what was that!?" I shout as the pain rushes through the inside of my skull. Ms. Kyoko then speaks with a stern voice, "You're not going to cause me any trouble are you, my new adorable student? Just because you're new here doesn't mean I will be lenient with you. Consider this a warning, and same goes to you Lady Sternbriar." After being scolded by the professor, the class erupts into chatter. A few whispers again say, "How does this new kid know Eliza?" Another from the back, "Dude, I saw them sitting together in the cafeteria. It was so weird, but I'm kind of jealous."

"Yeah Kima, shut up!" Alma comments and Juni says, "It's okay, Kima. I'm just as excited as you are!" Her smile beams just like it did back in the cafeteria.

"HEY! Did I say you all can speak?!" The professor pulled out a whip! Is that even legal? This succubus is out of her mind if she actually whips her students...

The whole classroom just gets quiet, while the professor calms down as well, she sighs and says, "Now then, pay attention, especially you, Kima."

I sit up straight and my eyes are glued to the front, but I can see from the corner of my eye that Eliza is embarrassed, so she also is trying to pay attention.

Ms. Kyoko clears her throat, "Ahem! Let's go through a rundown of Nuvia's history, the basics, and our arts facility, alright?" She announces to the class our agenda for today. The first slide of her presentation had a warning symbol, and she proceeds to warn us, "I don't want to warn you, because it would be hilarious to see your reaction, but I was told by the head of the academic department to do so..." she sighed, "But there will be many graphic pictures of past wars and disturbing information. Don't worry though, it will only be for a small portion of the class, besides, you all decided to become mages; this line of work requires you to get used to this kind of stuff regardless." She paced back and forth while speaking but occasionally looking at us to see if we were paying attention.

"Now let's begin," with the wave of her hand she used magic to change the slide, "The Nuvian war, can anybody tell me who this is? And how did the Nuvian war start?" She scanned around the room to check for hands, and there were about 3 individuals who raised their hand. She chose a dragon looking guy from the middle of the class, "Ian?" He proceeded to answer the question, "That's Juvia, one of the fallen Heroes of Nuvia, also known as the original Pawn-Wielder and the only one to be able to wield the Pawn Sword. During the Nuvian war, an apocalyptic event was caused by the demon lord himself, Apollyon. He declared war on our Goddess Nuvia, which in turn, caused massive damage to the world and nearly wiped out the entire population."

"Very good, I'd kiss you if I could!" She said in a naughty way, and he just sat down disregarding that indecent comment. The slide that depicted how Juvia looked like, was outstanding. Juvia had a beautiful peach tone complexion; she has swirls of gold patterning from her shoulders to her ankles. Her hair color is sky blue, and it's long and curly. Her eyes are a bright yellow—almost gold like. She has elongated pupils like a cat, and she has two black short horns sticking through her head. She's wielding a black sword, and I can see her nails, they're long and sharp. She's wearing a military-like uniform, but I think that's to represent her strength and represent Nuvia.

She immediately switched back to teaching mode, "But it's exactly what Ian said. And during the war, the six artists of Nuvia had to fight and defend Nuvia—to bring peace and hope once again. Juvia sacrificed herself in order to stop Apollyon in his tracks. However, she got killed in the process, but this allowed Nuvia to have enough time to seal the demon lord forever. That is why she's one of The Heroes of Nuvia. Her honorable death brought peace throughout the lands. Though through the years, there has been discrimination towards half-demons, it wasn't their fault for being born the way they are. Society just feared them and was still traumatized by the actions of the demon army, that's why they treated them in such a way. But as time passed, we started to treat everyone equal. That is why in this day and age, we accept half-demons or any race to live peacefully. Cerene is one of those many cities in Nuvia, that does not discriminate, and we have the most diverse schools as well!" As she spoke she showed slides that related to what she was talking about, so we could grasp the idea even better.

After that, she switched slides and showed gruesome depictions of people getting pillaged by the demon army, and dead bodies stacked on top of each other. Mostly everyone was shocked, and some were just keeping to themselves, but it was definitely a sight to see. Ms. Kyoko began talking about the six artists of Nuvia—I was very interested in Juvia though. She wasn't an artist, but she wielded that legendary sword with such grace, and she must've been powerful to deal major damage to Apollyon and slow him down.

I raised my hand, and Ms. Kyoko responded, "Yes? My dear Kima?"

"I'm not from this world. So, I was wondering if you can go over all the races, please?" I asked politely.

"Oh come on! This lesson was already boring enough, that's children's knowledge," Alma complained. The others were whispering their complaints instead, but Ms. Kyoko said, "Of course, but I'll be quick, so it won't waste too much time. So, there are seven races in total; The Humans, like you Kima, who are blessed with a strong will and determination. The Beastials, like our cutie Alma over there," she teases Alma and she shouts, "Hey!"

"They're blessed with strong senses and reflexes. The Dracokin, like quiet little Ian over there, blessed with superior strength and the affinity for fire. The Elves, like our dearest Headmaster, blessed with intellect and loved by nature itself--that brings affinity to all elements. The Fairies, like Juniper, blessed with wings and an affinity for water and wind. And finally, the Vampires, like Lady Sternbriar, blessed with strong resilient bodies, large magic reserves, long lifespans, and the ability to sustain themselves on. Last but not least, the Half-Demons, these are humans and demon hybrids, who we just talked about," she looked at me as she finished.

"Was that good enough?" She asked me.

"Yes, thank you," I said politely.

"On to the next topic...I will go over a few basic things, such as quests and how to get them, where to receive your payment, how to cash out, etc. Furthermore, we will discuss the art facility before time runs out," She flips open her own horo for the time, and it looks very expensive and flashy. She even has a keychain of a chibi version of herself hanging from it, and then she continues to talk more about Nuvia

This is going to be a long class, I say in my head.
