Chapter 78 - Difficult Recovery

After Gammel and Quinn had left the room Umbra and Talia entered after them to check the condition of Klaus. Even if they had seen that he was fully healed whenever they brought him back the fact that it took him so long to even regain consciousness was something to be concerned about. Seeing that he was fine and that he reassured them that he was fine did they finally stop asking questions regarding him rather they moved to the topic of Sagar's condition.

"Gammel and Mr. Stoor didn't tell me anything about Sagar other than the fact that he was heavily injured. How about you two? Can you tell me anything about the state he's in?"

With a uneasy tone Talia answered, "Whenever we managed to get back to the area we left Sagar the fight was already over, or to clarify it was in it's climax by the time he got there. The only thing we saw was a flash of light from which he was located within and we made our way over. Apparently the explosion contained some kind of volatile energy that would harm us if we entered but because Gammel and Mr. Stoor were strong enough they could ignore it for the most part. Mr. Stoor is the one who retrieved Sagar and he wasn't in the best shape. From what Umbra and I could tell he was practically dead but we were told that he was still alive. They're currently treating him right now as much as they can but we're not too sure how well that's going as they barred us from entering."

"Hmm, I thought I was crazy but it seems that Sagar is even more crazy than me, fighting Matador just to allow you two to get me to safety."

"Matador?", both of the girls asked this question.

"Oh, that's right, Matador was the name of that undead or whatever it was. Gammel and Mr. Stoor were trying to figure it out earlier but couldn't really come up with anything conclusive so now they'll just wait till he recovers to ask.", Klaus quickly explained, "Anyway thanks for saving me, unfortunately I have to remain here until morning arrives where they'll check my condition and make a decision from there, it's up to you whether...", Klaus was going to finish his sentence when he noticed something peculiar about Umbra's shadow.

In this room the light radiated from the crystal it somewhat bright casting shadows on those who are in it. Usually Klaus wouldn't pay attention to such a thing as a person's shadow but whenever he looked over at Umbra and Talia, he couldn't help but notice that Umbra's shadow was significantly darker than Talia's. He pointed at it and asked, "Umbra is there something going on with your shadow or has it always been like that?"

Umbra's face changed a bit as if she was saying 'Oh' with it and explained, "That's just my familiar Tenmo. I couldn't have him wondering around the camp freely as that would cause some problems so I asked him if he could retreat into my shadow and follow me around there. I wasn't completely sure if he could but he ended up doing it anyway."

Klaus put his hands up, "Wait a sec, since when have you had a familiar I don't think I've ever heard you mention it at the very least."

"Well we didn't think we were traveling fast enough to the camp with you in tough and make it back with reinforcements in time to help Sagar so with the help of Talia I managed to summon a familiar who helped us move a lot faster."

As Umbra was explaining Klaus looked back at her shadow where he swore some eyes were looking back at him but from what Umbra was telling him that was probably the case. He shook his head and continued his discussion with the two of them until they had to leave the recovery center.

Quinn was standing outside of Sagar's room waiting for someone to come out and give him an updated status on the injured boy. He had to wait a couple of hours before a healer walked out of the room walking straight over to him. "For now we don't have to worry about him dying for the time being."

Nodding his head, Quinn asked, "What's taking so long, I know that his injures were life threatening but there's no need to take up this much time simply to bring him away from death's door."

"The strange thing is that there seems to be a sort of weird energy protecting his body from outside interference."

"What do you mean it's strange, its not unusual for the body's remaining energy trying to defend the body unconsciously."

To clarify the healer expanded on what he was saying, "What I mean is that this energy is starkly powerful and continually knocks away the energy we send into him for healing. With some effort along with the use of some of our tools were able to somewhat deal with it but it does severely slow down the healing process. The only fortunate news is that his body seems to be healing on it's own albeit at a slower pace then us but it does help. He'll probably regain consciousness within a day or so but we're unsure if he'll be awake for long so I suggest you come check on him within another two days at the very least."

"Alright make sure to inform me if any sudden changes happen to him.", Quinn then began walking out of the healing facility where he saw someone waiting for him, "Is there something you need Ian?"

Ian shrugged, "I was just wondering about the current state of my student."

'Oh yeah he mentioned that he was Sagar's saber instructor', Quinn then responded casually, "Well the boy won't die but it's still going to take some time for him to fully recover."

"Then what about that undead that the two girls were talking about."

"As far as we know it should be dead but there is still a lot of mystery surrounding it that we're not able to come to a absolute decision. After we finished question Klaus, Gammel was going to go back to where we found Sagar to look around and see if there was any trace of the undead. Honestly I felt like it was just an excuse so he could study that volatile energy that was within the crater that Sagar formed but he should at least do a thorough job of looking around if he said he was going to look around.", Quinn sighed after filling in Ian about the current situation. "I'm tired so I'm going to go back to my room for a nap, what about you?"

"I was just going to go back and finish up my guarding duty for today maybe see if there will be other students in trouble as well."

Quinn started walking past Ian and padded his shoulder, "Well, just don't bother your brother over every single problem that comes up.", leaving this sentence to Ian, he started yawning as he made his way back to his room.

Ian didn't respond much to his statement and instead did exactly as he said he would, continue watching over the camp and looking out for any students in trouble.
