Chapter 47 - Library

Since the class with Mr. Stoor was so short, Sagar decided to hang out a bit with Umbra. As it turns out she actually had a lesson with the principal today as well so she couldn't stay to talk for long. Sagar said goodbye to her and decided he would go to the library for some time as he still needed to check some thing out there.

One of the things that he still needed to look up was the so called books on his mother that Umbra had told him about. He wasn't entirely sure what these books were called but he figured that if they were about his mother then they must have her name in it. The academy's library did what all library's did and sorted their books into categories so it'll make Sagar's search easier. If he still couldn't find it then he would just ask one of the library assistants to direct him to where the books are at.

The library was located on the eastern side of the academy with the 'Persistence' building being more to the southern side of the academy so Sagar didn't have to walk relatively far, only taking about ten minutes to get to it. The library didn't have a name like the other buildings that Sagar has come across but the architecture of the building was different than all the other buildings. The library had a gothic design with the outside of it being covered in flying buttress' and the inside having rib vaults all over the ceiling, there was also the mosaic windows giving the building plenty of color. If anything it looked more like a church rather than a library.

Walking into the library Sagar made his way to the section where they had all the biographies on a variety of people. They could either be one's that were famous in the Empire, others being well known before the inception of the Empire, and there were even some on people from other continents.

Luckily after a bit of searching Sagar managed to find a book on his mother titled 'Beatrice Drak Explosive Empress' which Sagar thought was quite imposing. Looking at the title Sagar wondered if Explosive Empress was simply something that the author of the book granted her or it was something people actually referred to his mother as. Maybe it was common for famous individuals to be parted names the same as Talia but she wasn't as well known as his mother.

Cracking open the book it started off with a introduction of Beatrice along with why she was a famous individual. Eventually when the book actually got started talking about about the early life of his mother Sagar finally learned the name of his grandparents. His grandmother being Anne Drak with his grandfather being Antonio Coca. Even when Bella told some things about the two she never mentioned their names and his mother certainly didn't she didn't even like him bringing them up.

Anyway the book continued to talk about some things about his grandparents including their families the Drak and Coca families. Sagar already knew most of the things about the Drak family as he had read up on it whenever he was at the residence, but the Coca family on the other hand he had never heard about. According to this book the only member of the Coca family was in fact his grandfather Antonio. The book didn't mention why he was the only member as there are records of the family found throughout the history of the Griffin Empire but something lead to the decline of the family leaving only Antonio behind.

The Coca family was actually a mage orientated family but there was nothing on what sort of magic element that they used. Sagar would have to see if he could find anything out about their magic later but for now he would continue the book.

The book skips around a bit mainly trying to give you the important information about Beatrice leading till when she was nine years where both Anne and Antonio ended up disappearing. The Drak family immediately set out people to try to find the future head of the family and were able to find her body a couple of days later. The book didn't go too much into detail about the condition of the body but just mentioned that it was found in an area where there seemed to have been some kind of ritual performed there.

This event made upper echelons of the family to disregard Beatrice, her mediocre talent didn't help the family to try and pay attention to her. Regardless of this Beatrice managed to get her way into Skoll Academy whenever she was of age, which to Sagar was also quite surprising as she never said anything about this to him. Beatrice graduated from the academy at an early age of sixteen at the level of an Master mage and entered the Silverback Mercenaries afterword.

Mentioning some other small things like Beatrice's rise in power and through the ranks of both the Drak family and the Silverback's the book came upon the event that made her as famous as she is today. Whenever Beatrice was twenty there were reports coming from the northern parts of the Empire talking about some creature that devoured everything in it's path. At that point the Empire was busy with other matters and didn't see this as too important so it eventually fell to the Silverback's to pick up this mission with Beatrice being at the helm of this mission.

With a group of twenty people they managed to find the creature which was recorded by witnesses to be at the Ancestor rank the level beyond the Saint rank. It was also reported that it was close to breaking through to the next rank beyond that the Legend rank which only a few in the Empire managed to reach. Not going too much into detail about the actual fight it was said that Beatrice casted a spell completely eradicating the creature along with causing her name to ring out throughout the Empire.

The book then mentioned a little about the aftermath of the fight like the fact that Beatrice was crippled and soon left the capital with her husband. The book went on for a good amount of pages but Sagar already got what he came for so he closed the book and returned it where he found it.

Feeling that he needed to think about some things regarding his mother Sagar made his way back to his dorm where he would spend the rest of his day.
