Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: not a secret anymore

"you are finally awake"

This was the first thing I heard when I opened my eyes

"good morning"

"Yeah, good morning, now get ready quickly, we need to move!"

'we need to move', huh.

"I get that you are on a journey, but were exactly are we going?"

"I'll tell you on the way, now hurry it up, I'm not going to wait forever!"

"Okay, okay, I'm getting up"

I tried to sit up and guess what, I had a headache, great!

the pain was sudden so I instinctively started to massage my temples... these past few days, for some reason, I always wake up in pain.

"are you okay?"

master asked me with a bit of concern

"Yeah, nothing serious, by the way, what happened yesterday? for some reason, I can't recall anything."

"Oh, you don't remember, huh. well, nothing really special happened after you passed out, except I won a huge amount of money!"

"wait a minute! I passed out!"

just what the hell is going on with me! lately, I've been passing out for some reason! is this some kind of a curse! or is my luck this bad!

"yep, you dropped dead when I accepted those bets, and I won tons of money!"

at this point, I don't really care about that.

I dejectedly put my clothes on and we went out.

"so, are we going to go out of the town just like this or there is something more that needs to be done"

I asked master on the road, because if you think about that, right now master doesn't have anything that would make it look like she's on a journey, there was also nothing like that in the inn, so I'm bit confused.

"first I have to pick up some provision from the shop and then we're out"

"so that's how it is"

"yeah, the shop is close to gates so it won't take much"

"I see, is it that place?"

I said while pointing at a place that suited the description

"close enough"

"is that not it?"

"no"

"then which is it?"

"the one on the right"

"Oh! it really was close!"

"I know, anyway I paid them in advance so we'll just go in and take our stuff"

"that's easy!"

with that we entered, I followed master around the shop, she talked to the manager.

it was really simple, she just took what belonged her and that's all...NOT!

"how are you going to carry this stuff around!"

actually, the procedure was simple, it was the number of supplies that didn't make it simple, I mean there are three giant bags full of ―I don't even know what!

to be honest, if it was just about caring it around I'm confident that me, from a past life, would handle that easily, but she's going to travel with it for like, I don't know, weeks?!

"yes, something wrong?"

"just to be clear, do you have some kind of transportation methods like a carriage or something?"

"no, why you ask? oh, you think I can't carry these, huh. you should trust your teacher bit more you know."

she said with a sigh, like 'good grief'

"it's not simply about trust..."

"haaa― look"

again, she said with a bigger sigh that for some reason irritated me, then with her right hand she took one of the bags and put it on her shoulder, after that she lightly threw another bag on top of the first one and put the third one under her armpit, all this was done so easily it seemed that these bags didn't even weight a gram.

"that's how you do it"

I was speechless, some people in the shop tried to imitate her and as the result... let's not talk about them.

like this, we picked up supplies and passed the gate

the guards were giving her a weird looks

(I know how you guys feel like!)

.

.

.

we walked for some time and the town already seemed really small

"Okay, this place is good enough"

she said and put down the bags

"?"

then she took out a small backpack from her robe

"...?"

and then she proceeded to put the bags inside of a backpack, all three of them

"?!?!?!?!?"

"this is better"

master said this and continued to walk along the path, all while I'm petrified.

"Hey, move your feet, I'm not gonna wait for you!"

"ah―huh! what in the bloody hell did you do just now!"

"didn't you see it yourself?"

"yeah! I saw that! that's exactly why I'm asking you!"

"you're getting surprised over little thing for some time already, that was just magic bag"

"like the one that looks small but can actually fit things many times bigger than itself?"

"yes"

"then why did you use it here and not in the store?"

"Listen, these bags are expensive, it would be really troublesome if some idiot followed us in hopes of stealing it"

"are the thieves so strong that you can't deal with them?"

even though I haven't seen a master in the fight that much but from what I've seen, she's pretty strong

"I could deal with them, but it is still troublesome"

"well at least you have a point"

"I do indeed"

on the way we had many idle(?) chat like this, it is nothing special but for me, it was really enjoyable

"Alright then we'll stay here tonight"

she said after several hours of walking

"hmmm... but it still too early for camping "

"yes, usually I would walk a bit more but now that I have disciple I should take things slowly, you yourself want to learn something rather than just tagging along"

"another good point"

"it is"

for camping, she took out things from her magic bag, like tent, utensils and other tools

after everything was done she sat down and gestured me to do the same, so I sat opposite to her

"Einhard... we have to talk"

up until now, her attitude was something like 'ah~ whatever', but now it's completely different, her voice is heavy and serious

"what is it...?"

I asked nervously

"Einhard... you are not a normal child, are you?"

what is she talking about?

"no matter how I think about it your behaviour isn't that of a child, everything about you seems off, your conduct, your responses even you being straight-man is unchildish, well except several occasions"

did she saw through me? well she's an elf, she must've lived many times longer than me and can tell difference between me and a normal child

" I wouldn't be concerned with it in any other situation, but you're my disciple and I'm your teacher if you're hiding something you should tell me"

what to do? should I tell her that I have memories from my past lives? or should I not? I'm rather confident in my improvising abilities, so I could come up with a believable lie...

with that thought, I looked into her eyes and after seeing the seriousness in them I lost all desire to lie

(i can't trick this person...)

"haaa― would you believe me if I told you?"

"who knows, tell me and I'll decide if it's worth believing"

"let's see... how should I say it, another world? no, considering the fact that despite calling it 'another world', right now I'm on a different planet, then does that means I'm an alien? what am I even thinking right now!"

"Hey! stop mumbling and speak normally!"

she said with a slightly angry voice

"huh―ok, actually I'm from another wor― no, I am from another planet"

like this, I gave my secret away.
