[Houston, we have a problem. We have to little supplies to support a population over 165 people for ten years here at the "Gaia12". We will need more food, water, materials, entertainment and fuel]. This was the mail astronaut Wade Smith sent to NASA. This was something their spaceship needed in huge amounts now in the beginning of the research. They were chosen to travel around in the galaxy in an experimental spaceship which would determine if humanity could choose to expand their living spaces.
This project was supported by almost all the nations on earth, and a lot of time and money had been used to make this real. At the moment the ship was just beginning to be independent, but while they waited for the greenhouses to make enough food for all aboard, they would also need energy from many sources, and depending on where they travel, energy might be scarcer or plentiful.
Wade was chosen to be the captain of "Gaia12" because of his talents and experience in space. It was estimated that the ship would be in outer space for almost 60 years before they would return with data on what they experienced. But Wade knew that this was more than just a space project, because it was actually 600 people on wait to enter the expanding ship. He had accidently heard that government leaders had discovered that some sort of an apocalypse was coming, and that they were trying to make run for it.
And Wade had also confirmed that an apocalypse was coming through the use of a system that had chosen him. He found out a lot from it, and he also learned that it would be dangerous in space as well. He didn't know from what yet, but he knew that they would need heavy firepower and luck. But the system told him that he could do many modifications on the spaceship, and that he could teleport one time if it was necessary, but that would have to be when all was lost.
Wade decided to make an oxygen-creator, which should be impossible but still, here it was. This costed him a lot of materials which would be hard to get later on, but he deemed that it was one of the most important things on a space-travel. He would have to wait until tomorrow for the shipment which would let him make a watergenerator which would take an small amount of oxygen and somehow change carbon to hydrogen to make water. Wade was worried about all the things that could happen on Earth and what that could happen in space, like what if they met a hostile alien, or if zombies would just evolve to fly and what that would happen to his daughter since she was not allowed to come in the spaceship because of some weird polices. But Wade had steeled himself to crash the ship if she was not allowed to come with him, or to send her to her boyfriend Josh, and that seemed as what he would have to do, but he dident like it because she was all that he had left after their mother.
She had died because of a serial killer who was later taken down by FBI, but that didn't heal the wounds. He became more occupied by work and neglected his daughter. She had gotten bad friends and had dropped out of school, but she changed once she got that boyfriend of her called Josh something, and because of that he had just recently managed to start to heal their broken relationship, something he did not want to be gone because of a flesh-eating freak.
A while later
Tell me once again why Emily can't come with us doctor Stone"! Wade stood and almost yelled in front of a man in a white robe in a med bay on the ship. Dr Stone said: It is because her bones are too fragile, too much pressure, like going to space, will make them shatter and kill her. Wade fell down in the chair and sighed, then asked: "There is no way for her to come with us"? Dr Stone looked at Wade for a while and said: Not if you want her to live without as much pain as she would be in if she came".
Wade sat in the chair for a while, before he stood up and left the med bay. He walked for a while in the ship, until he came to a door where it stood {Communications}. Wade walked in, found a computer and logged in. he then went on Gmail to send Emily a list of instructions on what she should do for now.
The email went like this: Dear Emily, because of medical issues, I can't take you with me, and I cannot reveal to you what that is going to happen. All I can say is that the world is going to hell, and that you should get to Josh. He should be able to protect you. Go to my room and look behind the nightstand. There should be a safe there. In there is a colt, a few magazines for the colt, a few thousand dollars and a flashdrive. Take it all and travel to Washington D.C where Josh is and give him the flashdrive. Do not activate it until you two are on a safe place. I hope you two will manage to live well, and you should know that you have to do everything you can to survive. And that you two have my blessings. I love you, and I hope this is not farewell.
Wade read over what he had written, and was hesitating to send it, because he was scared. What if his daughter wouldn't listen to him? Or what if Josh didn't care what happened to them? But there was little Wade could do, because everyone who was on the ship, was not allowed to leave. In the end, he clicked "Send" and turned of the computer. Wade left the communications area, and slowly went to the bar to wash away the pain in his heart, even though he had never before drunk alcohol.
When Wade woke up, he discovered that he was sleeping in his bed and that he had one hell of a hangover. He groaned, tried to remember what he had done before passing out, and failed. He sat quietly for five minutes, trying to wake completely up, before he slowly went to the kitchen area of his cabin to get some water and painkillers. After he had drunk some water, he noticed a man in a black suit siting on a chair sleeping. He remembered that this was FBI`s chief director, Sirius Smith, and that he worked directly under the president.
Wade suddenly worried if the FBI had read his message and intercepted it. If they did, he, Emily and Josh would get in a lot of trouble. He then slapped himself for being so dumb. Of course, they would read the email, but if they wanted to do something, they would just toss him into the jail while he was dead drunk, and not let him sleep in his own bed. He woke Sirius up, and asked: "Why are you here"? Sirius was still groggy, but said: "Because I want to ask you for a favour".
