Chapter 6 - Shishkebab

Josh got off the bus and followed the line of people towards the plain. When he came close to the tents where the betting was going on, he saw a long que, probably more than fifty people. Josh waited patiently until he could see the name on the horses and the odds. Their names were: Lucky Day, Sleipnir, Shishkebab, Haymaker and Flash. Josh decided to use the discreet model of the System, the clock model. When the clock appeared at his wrist, it looked the exact same as a usual clock, just that it was coloured a deep purple, and had lightning all over. Josh was surprised and mesmerised by the design before he lifted his arm and started asking it.

Josh whispered: "Hey System, which horse should I bet on, and how do you plan on fixing the race?" The System: [You should bet on Shishkebab since that gives more money if it wins, bet all your remaining money to earn more, and il temper a bit with the space at the race. Josh asked surprised: "You can temper with space? How, and how are you going to temper it?The System: [When you travel through the dimensions for a while, you pick up a few tricks, and I was planning on sending all the other horses in a temporary space where the distance we have is way smaller then the one they will be in, while Shishkebab will be sent to one where the distance is smaller.]

Josh was surprised at the answer and lowered his arm since it started to become numb because the lack of blood in it. When he looked at the que once again, he saw that he was next in line, so he decided to check how much money he had. When he logged in at the bank`s site, he saw that he had 29 000 dollars left. . And since betting and winning on Shishkebab would increase that amount with ten times he would end up with 290 000 dollars, which was more than what he had when he got the System. About 3% would be deducted, so the actual amount would be 281 300 dollars, which still was a big amount of money. It was finally Josh`s turn to bet. He went up to the table, where a bearded man sat with a notebook in front of him.

He asked in a tired voice: {How much are you going to bet, and on which horse?} Josh said with a plain, bland voice: "29 000 dollars, on Shishkebab." The man just stared at him as one would a crazy person and said with a confused expression: "Excuse me sir, I think I heard wrongly, did you just say you would bet 29 000 dollars, on Shishkebab?" The last part he almost screamed. Josh just stared at him and said with a bland and nonchalant voice: "Yes, do you have anything to do with what I use my money on? His voice was so normal you could not seperate it from the masses. The man just looked at Josh and said: {No sir, 29 000 dollars on Shishkebab, it is just that we have no idea if you can pay for it.}

Josh showed the man his current amount of money on the bank`s site. When it was noted down, Josh got a note with details he coulden`t understand and went to the tribune and sat down at the edge. The System asked Josh: [Now, how long do we have to wait before it begins?] Josh just answered: I dont know, I have never been at such a event before.
