Chapter 5 - IV. I Should Have Confessed That Night

I quickly got sober because of the fight. When we were on the car on our way home, Selena's not talking. She's not saying anything. Then so I decided I will.

"You're. Welcome. Woman.", I proudly said with the most annoying voice I could do. She just stared at me and I knew she's mad.

Then I decided to play our special song. She's so mad she quickly made it stop. But I was desperate, I played it all over again and she paused it momentarily.

Until it got to our favorite part. The chorus. She didn't stop it this time. Instead, she asked me something.

"Why would you hurt yourself when in fact, I can handle the situation on my own. I could have just talked to them.", she asked me while giving me her signature frown- the most beautiful one.

When her thick eyebrows almost meet each other(damn it's so gorgeous of her) but, her eyes still managed to be lovely.

In my mind, I wanted to say, "How I wish you're just a normal woman- but you're not. You're way beyond than that. You're way beyond with every woman I know. So as long as I live, I'll protect you from the ones that harm you- the ones that harm the girl I love."

But instead I said, "Of course we are best friends, we ought to keep each other safe."

She just looked at me, still mad.

But I got this little courage to tell her something,

"And besides, you're special. We face consequences when protecting something special, don't we?"

I saw her, though. She was smiling while turning her face back. And I was smiling too. Until she asked something,

"What was it awhile ago that you wanna say?"

My heart pumped like never been before. I didn't know what to answer, she got me defenseless and off guard. I was so afraid that when I tell her I like her- we would be nothing but a ruined relationship.

"I just wanted to say your hair's a mess that time. So I wanted you to fix it but those good-for-nothing guys came up.", I came up with the most stupid idea a guy who was about to confess could think of. I told her that, instead of telling the truth.

"Well, uhm, I also have something to say awhile ago. I was about to ask you something. But since you changed your answer. I'll change my question too.", she stuck her tongue out and made a funny face.

"Why were you so bad at punching people?", she continued. She laughed so hard and I did too. We were so laughing until we got home.

And damn, we were so happy and perfect that time. I wish it has never ended.
