Can you believe those round ears, they just had a study done on titles of all things because they didn't record as many titles per capita in the current years compared to decades ago.
Something about how knowing what the requirements are for gaining a title makes it harder for a person to gain it.
On an unrelated note, we are removing title descriptions from all our schools.
-A gaffe from Shandalor of the World Tree, 1016 FE.
****************************************************
A spike. A fucking stalagmite grew from the floor and would have stabbed through Odd's balls if he didn't push against the floor and grab hold to it with his clawed feet.
Odd stood precariously holding onto the tip of the protrusion by the tip by his toes, with his arms spread out for balance. "Were you really trying to destroy my jewels first? You're evil enough that I might even enjoy watching you die, clayface!"
Clay Zul scoffed before he clenched his hand again and watched impassively as Odd grabbed hold onto spikes, while he swung and hopped around others.
The Living Ghoul wouldn't have ever guess that [Canopy Grace] would apply in a situation like this too! His build was too fucking good. He lept and dodged, activating his speed magic and yin lighting around his hands and feet in intermittent bursts to block glancing blows.
[Mana] 15/23
Odd was about three fourths of the way to his destination before the first earth spike went through his ankle, shattering the bones.
He loudly cursed before he coated his foot in yin lighting and decisively blew it off.
If his mother said she could have blown up her hands with Connection Shearing Chains on, Odd was sure he could do it himself without an obstruction.
What he didn't know, was how fucking painful it would be.
The coating of energy around his foot was forced to attempt an implosion and shredded his cells until enough of them were destroyed that his weight would allow his to loose his foot.
[Mana] 10/23
Clay Zul cocked an eyebrow at the display, but continued to create spikes that stabbed towards him.
The Living Ghoul was getting tired of his shit, but pressed on, using his speed magic to jab his arms against the spikes or kick his intact leg out to land near the ritual target.
Then a wall appeared in front of him. Just like it did when he walked into the room.
"That? Your grand plan was to die as you come near my ritual that you have no way of interrupting. Unless you have something greater than your meager display of tricks thus far, whelp."
Odd grit his teeth in defiance and focused as much mana as he possibly could into his legs for a burst of speed and formed a cloak of yin lighting around his right fist.
[Speed Affinity] rose from 1.4 to 1.9
[Yin Lightning Affinity] rose from 2.3 to 2.7
Firing at the wall like a torpedo, it shattered under Odd's assault. He flew forwards, into the ritual circle, and landed right where he wanted. He was right next to Myx, the Humanoid Flame Slime, close enough to touch her.
[Mana] 3/23
Odd was feeling a little bitter. Less than an hour ago, he claimed that he would never feel tired in his life. Now, crippled and low on mana, the Living Ghoul had nothing left in his tank.
'Yep, I'm dead,' Odd thought to himself. Nothing he could do would help him. Grey, tired eyes met the translucent, red-orange ones of the Slime that laid before him. The stranger was beaming at him with a look of admiration and... pride?
"Ugh," he groaned.
Odd decided he would rather go out fighting. That fuzzy feeling in his chest that he joked about earlier had nothing to do with it either.
By shear force of will, Odd channeled yin lighting to his hand that wasn't broken from punching a rock wall and touched the Ice Attuned Chains.
They were cold. His hand, his entire body hurt.
[Mana] 0/23
[Mana Capacity] rose from 23 to 25
[Soul] minor bottleneck passed. Rose from 1.8 to 2.0
The feeling of his soul surging with strength did little to help the numb cold that encompassed his being.
[Mana] 0/25. Drawing energy from life force for continued use of [Yin Lightning Affinity].
[Breaker of Chains] title unlocked. Save someone(s) from being sacrificed or enslaved due to altruistic reasons.
Due to [Breaker of Chains] title, increase [Soul] stat
[Soul] minor bottleneck passed. Rose from 2.0 to 3.0
This time, when he passed the bottleneck, he couldn't even feel it because he felt so numb.
Odd couldn't tell if the enchantment was going away or not, but he felt cold. So, so cold. The earth spike going through his chest did little to help fight the chill as he slowly faded away from consciousness. The last sight he saw was tears flooding from the Flame Slime's eyes.
'How do Slimes even cry?' Odd thought as he rested his eyes and gave up on living.
****************************************************
'So warm.. and such a wonderful flavor, with a nice, spicy kick,' Odd thought to himself. This was just as good as Cirrha's sap! The warm, gooey goodness was slurped down as fast and hard as the Living Ghoul could possibly slurp. It was so energizing too!
The young Gob heard a sexy moan that alerted his consciousness, it screamed at him to, 'Get the Hell Up Now and Perform for the Lady!'
But no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't move or wake up!
Eventually, the defeated, Living Ghoul drifted off into a pleasant sleep with a stupid grin on his face, while suspiciously lacking a hole in his chest.
