Chapter 1 - one - it begins

Our story begins not in the magical fantasy world that you imagined.

It begins in our world, Earth. In a small town in America called Midvale.

Oh, come on, meet our protagonist, her name is Apolline Nightshade, she has blonde hair and bright blue eyes and she's fifteen, currently the youngest at her school.

Apolline attends Midvale High School and she was sharing a dorm with her best friend, Rosabella Black, who was currently watching as her blonde roommate threw clothes around their dormitory.

"Come on Polline," Rosabella was saying, the dark haired girl was a bit exasperated at her best friend's antics, "You don't have to dress to impress, It's just the Vice Principal."

Apolline stared at her friend, "Exactly, I need to make a good impression for our talk, Rosa, Come on, just help me choose..." she pleaded as she held out two outfits

The first outfit had a white long sleeves shirt and a black skirt that reached her ankle, it had a beige scarf as an accessory and had red accented on the outfit, she had long white socks and black doll shoes on, she basically looked like a French girl.

The second outfit was a lot different, first of all, it was a strapless tube top that was pink and white, because it was strapless, you could see her sun birthmark from when she was a little girl, she had black short shorts on and basically looked romantic.

Rosabella looked at the two, "Go with the long sleeves one, the black and white." she adviced

Apolline cheered up and said, "Thanks Rosa! You're the best!" she quickly headed off to the bathroom to change immediately.

Rosabella only sighed as she headed off to her cheer leading practice, good thing she wasn't going to be late.

When Apolline came out wearing her outfit, she was quick to run through the halls to the Vice Principal's office.

"—Sorry I'm late!" she exclaimed as she burst through the door and sat down, "So...sorry."

"You're actually in time." The brunette vice principal said as she tried to recall who it was, she started to look through the files.

"I—uh, I'm Apolline, no need to look!" Apolline said with a sheepish expression on her face.

The Vice Principal raised an eyebrow at she accessed Apolline's file, "Well Miss Nightshade, I don't know why you're here, your records are flawless and your grades are doing fine, what is the problem?" she asked

Apolline took a deep breath, "I just feel like I don't belong here... I, ever had that feeling? that rush for adventure?" seeing the blank stare of the vice principal, she continued with a sharp inhale, "of course not, my point is, I don't think I'm meant to be here, I think I'm meant for something bigger, adventure and—"

The Vice Principal interrupted, "You're thinking of leaving Midvale High?" She already knew the answer to that.

Apolline hesitatingly nodded, "Well, Yeah..."

The Vice Principal looked saddened at that thought, "please don't think about it Apolline, well, go back to your dorm now and think about the reasons you want to stay here."

Apolline nodded and headed out to go back to her dorm, She entered her room, Rosabella was still at her cheer leading practice and she was alone.

She failed to notice a girl that looked like her in the mirror.

The girl had her face, but her hair was silvery blonde, not the sun-like blonde hers was, and the length, Apolline always kept her hair at waist length, but the mystery girl in the mirror had it cut short, just below the shoulders, the eyes were also a big difference, while Apolline's was a bright blue that resembled the sky, the girl in the mirror's was a dark blue, midnight blue, resembled the night sky instead of the sky in the day.

Apolline turned around and noticed the girl, they weren't dressed alike, heavens no! While Apolline was still in her outfit, the other girl was wearing a white shirt, black jeans and a leather jacket, she looked tough unlike Apolline.

Apolline froze, she went over closer to the mirror, but her reflection didn't copy it, the reflection almost seemed....sad.

She went over to touch the mirror, and as soon as she did, ripples started to appear, Apolline's eyes widened as she tried to remove her hand, but alas! to no avail.

As she was fully swallowed by the mirror, all she felt was that she was drowning.

She opened her eyes.
