Wu Lina tried to arrange for scholarships on her own and somehow managed to get into a nursing school with eighty percent scholarship based on her school marks and entrance results.
She went to her mother begging her to help her with the rest of the fee amount. Her mother was pained to see her daughter in this state, so she gave Wu Lina her sole diamond ring that her mother gave her when she was married. She asked Wu Lina to sell it to make up for the residual amount of money.
Wenqian's parents weren't very rich, but they had to marry their daughter fast as she was three months pregnant when she came from Bulgaria. They wanted her to abort the child, but Wenqian resisted. She ran away from the house when her father insisted that she aborts. Her father found her whereabouts soon and brought her home saying that she will be married as soon as he finds a suitable boy for her. But who would accept a pregnant woman. However, by chance they came in contact with Wu Yi-Zheng who lived in a different city. Even though he was fifteen years older to Wenqian, he had agreed to marry her.
All these events occurred so fast that Wenqian didn't have a chance to even think what was going on with her life. There was a very small ceremony for the marriage. Wenqian left her hometown after marriage. Her father asked her not to come back as she had brought shame to the family. Six months later Wu Lina was born. When people asked about her delivery, Wu Yi-Zheng told them that she was a premature child and some birth complications took place. It was never revealed to Wu Lina that she wasn't Wu Yi-Zheng's daughter.
Wenqian's mother gave her a diamond ring as a parting gift and told her that in case she is alone and with no money, she should sell that diamond ring and help herself. Wenqian never sold that ring as it was the only gift from her mother and was a fond memory.
However, that day when she saw that Wu Lina was suffering so much because of a folly she had committed in her youth, she gave her the ring. Wenqian's heart cried for her daughter.
But as fate would have it, Wu Lina's father happened to hear that conversation between the mother and the daughter. He became mad. The spat that ensued had dire consequences.
The ring was not given to Wu Lina and she was thrown out of the house that afternoon.
She gathered her wits and dragged herself to her friend's house to spend the night. She came back home next day to collect her belongings and moved in the nurses' hostel, where a room was allotted to her. Her mother visited her, gave her some money and said that she would not be able to visit her any further, as father was making things difficult for her. Parting with mother was heart wrenching, sorrowful. Wu Lina promised her mother that she would make it big one day.
Life became an everyday struggle for her. She started giving math tuitions and worked in coffee bars during the weekends to earn money. However, despite her busy schedule she was performing well in her college.
Her first year results were par excellence for which she retained her scholarship for the second year.
However, Wu Lina's passion was computer programming. She heard about a weekend school that held computer classes for working people. She went to meet the dean of the school, an old lady in her fifties to allow her to join the course.
When the dean saw this young eighteen-year brilliant girl trying to carve a niche for herself, she was reminded of herself in her young age. She approved Wu Lina's application but reminded her that the course will be expensive.
Wu Lina was determined and deposited all the money she had saved from her part-time jobs for the first six months of the course.
Three months later an opportunity came knocking at her door. One of her friends at the computer programming classes showed her a clipping from newspaper telling about a competition held by the Yang Corporation. Wu Lina joined the competition. The competition was to find young talented individuals who would be able to crack a difficult code. This competition was held every year to recognize talented youth. The winner received prize money of fifty thousand Yuan and a possible employment contract with the Yang Corporation to work in their firm. It was a dream come true for every young individual out there in the computer industry.
That year eighteen-year old Wu Lina won the competition. She received her prize money and a contract from the Yang Corporation she couldn't deny. Young Wu Lina that time didn't understand the terms and conditions of the contract and signed it immediately.
However, since she was still a student she was allowed to finish her education and then join them.
Her tuition fee at the computer school and some of her student loans were partially taken care of.
Next three years she worked hard to become a nurse and managing her computer course at the same time. She graduated topping the university exams. She was immediately hired by the Goldmine hospital through campus recruitment.
Now only one more year was left to finish the computer course. Working at the hospital made it easier for her to study since now she had more time in hand.

So she had a contract with the Yang Corporation. His lips curled up.
