The next day was fun. I had gotten up early before Sam could even think to wake up and headed to the training grounds.
I could finally train without worrying about something attacking me! So I wanted to relish the experience. I started with the beams and started my classic jumping. It was easier than I remember. Either I got lighter or I got faster over the years. Or maybe I had just been through enough day to day torture that this seemed like childs play.
As I moved I opened my wings to stretch them a bit and found a small breeze was being made as I moved. As the breeze seemed to make me faster and more agile the training had started to lose its effectiveness. It was becoming too easy. Which of you ask anybody is unhealthy to continue practices that are childsplay when they serve no purpose.
When I realized that my agility training wasn't working I swapped to the tower. The gravity magic certainly helped. I slowed down alot. And my muscles needed the resistance to grow.
I started my classic platforming and I actually got to the top first try. The distances weren't a big hindrance and if anything I was more able to cross them easier than before.
( Being a Baby Disaster Wyvern is no joke.) I thought as I examined one of my clawed paws in awe.
I went up and down the tower a few times for a good warm up before heading to the combat area. ( I need to test the new skills I got) I smugly thought as I strode through the door. I felt a ping in my mind telling me to avoid my right. I immediately dodged to the left with a roll.
A massive birds claws crashed down where I just was. I looked at what it was attached to. ( Morgan!!!!) I thought happily.
The only thing that had changed in the time I was gone was her size. She had grown a good foot or two. She had a scar on her beak and across her eye though her eye was fine. ( She's seen some hard times.) I crouched like we used to when we played. My tail swayed on the ground like a cat.
She did nothing. She sat there staring at me like I was a threat. I looked around and saw Gerald behind her panting like he'd been running to catch up. " What's got you riled up Morgan....!?!?" His eyes widened in shock when he saw me. "What is one of those doing here?!" Suddenly Morgan dove at me with a screech like a battle cry. I felt a cold threatening intent and dove away with a hiss. ( What the hell?!) And then it clicked. I looked completely different than I used to. Of course they wouldn't recognize me as something other than a monster!
I was running around the area with a gryphon on my tail who would more than likely kill me if she caught me while Gerald was looking on in confusion. " Why isn't it attacking?" I heard him mumble.
I dove into the beams and started darting around in their confines hoping Morgan would follow (which she very much did). Morgan tried getting in there and got stuck. Her fat lion behind was stuck between the two starting beams. She squawked at me angrily trying to claw her way in.
Realizing my opponent was very thoroughly stuck I strutted over and sat right next to her head. I stuck my tongue out a bit in a childish fashion before sitting on her head above her eyes so she could still see. ( I never thought of humiliating my opponents. But this is the first someone got stuck chasing me..... hahahahaha!)
I turned and went to the point where there was the flat part in her back where I stretched a little. ( That was a bit of a work out.) I thought as I heard metal scraping and saw Gerald had a sword drawn as I exited the area.
I didn't bother with him and walked over to the combat area. Making sure to keep an eye on Gerald so he wouldn't catch me unawares.(Might be best to show him what I could've done if I wanted) I thought as I glanced at one of the armored dummies. I decided to try my breath ability first seeing as it may have changed with my evolution. I opened my mouth and let out my normal breath image. And what came out was not normal.
A dense fog came out of my mouth. It drifted in the way a chilled breath normally would. Crawling across the low ground like a broad serpent. Dark and crackling with power as it shifted. When it touched the dummy is when things got interesting.
The cloth was dyed a deep blue before I heard a crackle and it burst into flames. The metal heated to a bright angry red before it melted. The wooden post making up the support was incinerated till only a burning stump remained in the sands.
Making sure to not show an expression I looked at Gerald who was frozen stiff. I turned to the other dummy and decided to try out my next ability. To prove my point further. My body ignited before I jumped and did a forward flip imagining my tail like a flaming sword as I swung it at the head of the target. My tail touched and cleanly flew through it. The dummies head was crushed by the mace-like nub on my tail. When my tail crashed into the ground there was a small hum. The hum grew till the dummy burst into flames. The fire erupted from where my tail had touched it if even for a brief moment.
Gerald swallowed loudly before he backed off to help his gryphon. He was completely outgunned and he knew it. I calmly looked at him and sauntered toward the door. Surprisingly he didn't try to stop me. I guess Morgan had now become the bigger priority.
I walked to the dining hall and found Sam. She was finishing a bowl of what smelled like oatmeal with bacon. Her hand holding a glass of what I imagined to be juice. Her eyes flicked over to me when she noticed movement and her jaw dropped as she scrambled away from the table toppling her chair in the process. I looked at her. {What? Am I finally handsome enough for you?} She blushed.
"I-Is that y-you Ignis?" She stammered out
{ No it's the cat... Who else could it be?!} She turned red at that comment. "I dont know! You didn't tell me where you went and I suddenly see a disaster threat level monsters chick! How else would you like me to respond!?
{ Oh.... I did not think that through...} I hung my head, a little embarrassed. I stopped and sat with a grimace realizing how big of an understanding I was about to cause.
Gerald and Morgan suddenly came through the door in a rush. " Sis! Have you seen a ah!!" He and Morgan stopped dead in there tracks when they saw me. "Sigh..." Sam came from behind me and picked me up similar to a cat.
" This... apparently.... is Ignis after his evolution." She pulled me in and held me like a cat with my hind legs hanging and my upper arms and head in her chest facing Gerald.
His eyes became serious. "Sis.... Dad said your familiar is dead. I don't know where you got this new one but you should put it back. You know just as much as I do that that things mother is probably looking for it. And so help me. If you don't then you are bringing. Disaster to our household and I will have to act." His brow furrowed as he readied to grab his sword. I squirmed till I was able to climb Smash arm to her shoulders so I was laying across them and hissed at him. { I'm not dead dumbass! And you knew that too!}
Sam reached up and cuffed my head. ( Oof!)
"Don't call him names because he was in on it too. Father probably commanded that they were to say those things." She looked at him.
"I know what father did to Ignis. He sent him to the Forest to the south. He'd been there for 4 years! Until I found him yesterday... though he was a lot bigger and certainly not as.... concerning... as he is now." She slowly began petting my neck.
Morgan huffed at me and I heard a feminine voice fill the air. "I doubt it." I looked around and saw nobody but us in the room. "The Salamander I knew was more energetic and didn't smell as dangerous." I slowly slinked off of Sam's shoulders to the ground where I sat there and stared at the gryphon.
{ Sam... Can you ask her how I know that she got rode like a bull one day when I snuck up on her?} Sam spoke. Morgans feathers ruffled. "He did not sneak up on me! I was just preoccupied!" I stuffed out a laugh as I started rolling on the ground. { Yeah right! I saw your shadow by the door! Do I need to ride you again after so many years to remind you. Not to mention you have gotten a little bigger since I last saw you!}
Sam chuckled a little as she relayed the message. Morgans feathered face seemed to change colors as she stood there. "I have not gotten fat!!" She suddenly crouched down and started grumbling with her figure looking very dejected. "Its all the muscle I've gotten from training. Even the males won't come close to me anymore." A small tear leaked out of her eye. I stopped rolling and walked over to her. I patted her lowered, mumbling head. ( There there. Not everyone has my metabolism.) Suddenly one of her claws had me pinned to the ground. ( Gah!) I hissed.
" How dare you call a lady fat! Someone needs to punish you." Morgan said with an angry glint in her eye. ( I might have gone too far... Gah!!!!!) I won't go into the next part, my pain resistance didn't level up from it so it's not worth mentioning.
