Chapter 16 - Imprisoned

Olivia was crying and trying to analyze what had just happened and why was she being imprisoned by his father for almost a week already. She only had her nanny Jane to talk to and even her mother was forbidden to talk to her for a week.

She was always watching the garden outside to see a glimpse of Augustus but he was never around anymore. At times she tries to call Mang Berto to ask where his son was but he was always aloof to her calling up to this time.

Once, when she called him, "Mang Berto! Mang Berto!" he only looked up to her without emotions then went back to what he was doing. She was also caught by Jane.

"Young madam, please refrain from calling Mang Berto. Please spare him from Don Maximus temperament." pleaded Jane.

"What's wrong ate Jane? Why is this all happening? It's so unreasonable." Olivia asked again while tears came falling on her cheeks.

"Yes I know but let us just wait for a little while when Don Maximus anger subsides."

"But why is he so angry?"

"Because he learned that you like Augustus so much and he was afraid that you would get closer to him more whenever he's around helping you." Jane explained as how she was told to by Madam Odette.

"But I don't get it ate, what is he so afraid of? I am just having fun knowing that there is someone who understands me around." she was so anxious already that Berto who was down on the ground looked up as she heard her almost scream.

"I thought dad would be happy now that I don't display my tantrums anymore. That I could already enjoy the company of everyone here around."

"Yes, but he's not happy with the reason why, and that's because of Augustus."

"And what does it have to do with him ate?" Olivia still wanted to know more but her nanny Jane just lowered her head in silence.

The following morning, Olivia did not eat her breakfast after Jane's several attempt of waking her to take it. She was stubborn enough that she manage to sleep her hunger off. Then came noon when it was about lunch that Madam Odette knocked at Olivia's door.

"Olivia? Honey? May I come in?" She called out her daughter while entering the room after she knocked.

Madam Odette slowle went near Olivia's bed and kissed her daughter's forehead when she felt that Olivia was hot. She put her palm on Olivia's forehead to confirm if she had a fever and that was about the time when she called Jane out.

"Jane! Jane! Jane!" She shouted in panic.

"Come up here right now. Jane!"

"Yes, madam, what is it?" Jane looked at Madam Odette in a puzzle.

"Bring the emergency kit from my room this instant!"

"Okay madam." Jane hurriedly went to her employers room and got the emergency kit from the drawer of the inside closet. Then she immediately went back to Olivia's room where madam Odette was in panic after she got towels from her duaghter's closet and wet it and did a sponge bath to Olivia to lower her fever.

"Please give me the thermometer," madam Odette commanded Jane.

"God! Her fever is high, it's 39.6," with this, madam Odette looks so nervous already. She grabbed her cellophone and called out someone.

"Hello? Is this Bethel Baptist Hospital?"

"Yes ma'am, how may I help you?" the person on the other end replied.

"I'm looking for Doctor Lorenzo? Please kindly tel him its Madam Odette."

"Oh, it's you madam. Wait, I'll call him from his office."

"Thanks."

There was a moment of pause while madam Odette stroke the hair from Olivia's forehead. She was still hot even after she was given paracetamol.

"Oh, Doctor Lorenzo!" Madam Odette ezclaimed.

"Yeah, it's me. Can I ask a favor from you?"

"What's it all about?"

"My daughter has a fever of 39.6 and I'm afrain of it. She has a history of convulsion. Can you please have your ambulance pick us up here?"

"Okay, no problem madam, it'll be there in a bit. By the way, since when did the fever started?"

"Probably this morning she already was not feeling well. It was just now that I knew about it since I was worried when our househelp told me she did not take her breakfast this morning."

"Okay. And what medicine did you gave her?"

"I just gave her paracetamol."

"Okay. Just don't panic madam. Our ambulance qill be there soon."

"Oh, thanks you so much doctor."

"Don't mention it madam, when it comes to young madam, we really would respons the soonest possible."

"Thank you again." Then madam Odette hang up.

"Jane, prepare Olivia's clothing. We have to admit her today. Go downstairs and tell Manang Elma to prepare food to be brought in the hospital. And if you see Don Maximus, tell him about this happening." Madam Odette instructed Jane.

"Alright madam."

Moments later, the siren of an ambulance could be heard nearing the vicinity. After which Olivia was assisted into a wheel chair by two nurses after a doctor got all her vital signs.

Madam Odette, Jane and Berto ccompanied them on a different car. They headed to Bethel Baptist Hospital following the ambulance.

The ER nurses again took Olivia's vital signs while one of them put on an IV, a med tech also drew blood samples for her laboratory test. After a couple of minutes, the med tech arrived with the laboratory result and gave it to Doctor Lorenzo? The one who is attending Olivia. He read the result and came closer to the patient and called out Madam Odette.

"Madam Odette, I'm afraid with Olivia's lab results. She has DHF but we are just lucky enough aince you came right on time before she's blees inside." Doctor Lorenzo explained while looking at the result and Olivia.

"Do you have any stagnant water or water container with no cover at home?" He added.

"No doc, why?" Madam Odette asked.

"Well? She could have beem bitten by a mosquito carrying the virus."

"How could it happen when we don't have any stagnant water at home nor water containers. She doesn't even go outside that much," Madam Odette spoke so fast that she did not notice Jane signaling something to her.

"It's alright Madam Odette, she will be fine. I will be referring her to our consultant Doctor Lim. She is a very good pediatrician." and doctor Lorenzo walked past them and went to to nurse's station of the ER.

"You can move the young madam to the suite room next to the Medical Chief's office." he instructed the nurses, "and by the way, pne of you shall stay there to so the monitoring."

"Ok doc," one of the nurse replied.

""Thank you."
