GOD DAMN IT! Why did I come back?
I shot my knee into the head of an ape as I swung my fist down into another. I looked back and saw 'Cleo' out of bullets and now just hugging onto the person he called 'Kristy'. Wow... Here I am putting my life on the line and he is just flirting. My right hand is also out of commission as it had yet to heal from when the ape punched me. I extended my leg and blew off the head of another ape. I couldn't let them surround us.
'Gasp' Damn I was tired. The option of leaving them and running was still on the table and seems more viable than anything else right now.
DAMN IT!
I clawed the face of an ape and swung my leg at another, hitting 3 at once. This would be so much easier If I had picked up some sort of 'self-defence' class.
"Hey, JUST TAKE AND KRISTY AND RUN"
Cleo yelled at me, How annoying, Well I needed him to shut up so that I could concentrate so...
"Another word out of you, and I am going to curb-stomp you"
That seemed to shut him up. In the middle of speaking, I picked up a corpse of an ape and started to violently swing it around as a weapon.

"Listen Kristy" Cleo whispered to Kristy
"While he is holding them off, run"
"No, why would I leave you here?" Kristy countered
"There is no point in all three of us dying"
Seeing Kristy hesitating Cleo was about to urge her even more but he was stopped.
The sound of Cars could be heard.
A Humvee suddenly rammed into an ape next to Kline as the mounted machine gun picked off the numbers quickly.
"GET IN CIVILIAN" A man in a damaged armour suit yelled. Although the little apes were being killed quickly, ammo was limited but their numbers didn't seem to be. Kline grabbed Cleo and pushed him into the man's arms. Kristy followed behind Cleo and after her, followed Kline.
The man who seemed like a soldier closed the door and tapped on the wall behind him twice. The car swerved into an acceleration.
"Congratulations on surviving, I'm Sergeant Charles"
"Uhm...What is happening?"
"Well we are Taking any survivors we find to the Safe haven that had been built"
Of course, High-level officials and specialists ( doctors, lawyers, etc) had been prioritised but he wouldn't mention that.
"Recently...and keep this bit between us ok?" The man named Charles took off his helmet and winked at Kristy causing her to blush.
'She really likes blushing huh?' Kline thought to himself
Charles had the same hair colour as Cleo, A bright blonde. It seemed everyone Kline was running into today was handsome or beautiful in some way.
"I'll give you guys the basic rundown, We ourselves would not have been prepared if we weren't warned"
"Warned...? You knew these things would show up?" Cleo quickly cut in
"Well rumour has it that some guy randomly showed up to one of the commander's front door, not even an office door, I mean literally her house's front door"
"So what? Were they in a relationship, or related?" Cleo once again asked curiously.
"No, no apparently she had never seen him before in her life, He apparently knew the future and warned her of multiple worlds colliding because of some 'Evolution accords'"
"So why wasn't there any large scale announcements then? Why did we have to be thrown into a world we didn't know about without any warning?" Kristy now cut in, Clearly angry.
"Before you start yelling, think about it this way... Would you believe the words of a random stranger who had randomly appeared at your front door?"
"I-Uh-I..." Kristy stumbled over her words
"You wouldn't be able to right?"
"..."
"Well the commander did, some say that she was won over by his charms while others said that he showed some type of power that shouldn't exist or be possible"
"Hey sarge, we are almost here"
"Understood, Private!" Charles seemed to change out of his casual demeanour at times
"Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention but Welcome to Safe Haven!"
He seemed to not only be talking to Kline and the two but as they would soon come to realise, there was 1 other person in the Car as well. Through the gaps of the armoured windows, they saw a large Silver Infrastructure that seemed to have no presence of light. They arrived in front of two automatic steel doors with watchtowers on both sides of the doors. A bright spotlight turned on and was placed on them after Charles verified his Identify the two doors groaned into a pathway letting the car in.
When they were Inside, After passing a foreboding entrance, A multitude of colours greeted them. The Haven was much bigger on the inside than it looked from the outside. There were many other cars arriving before them. Some seemed like ambulances as people were wheeled out. Inside the large dome-like haven, there were two of what seemed like training facilities? near the outside.
Charles opened the door of the car allowing a clearer view of everything.
"That's the training Facility" Charles mentioned
"Training Facility?" Kristy quickly asked while still blushing
"Yes, as you have probably noticed but handguns and the like don't work well on things that are tougher than the smaller apes, ammo is also very much a limited resource right now since we only have one factory on its production and our supply line cut off, We are planning to reclaim land,
re-establish supply lines and communicate with other countries for aid after we manage to settle a bit"
"So this is just temporary then?" Cleo asked
"We should all hope so but apparently it isn't, the gate won't close"
"Gates?" Cleo once again questioned
"Well it will be explained to your cluster of civilians later but, yes...gates, it's how these monsters managed to arrive here in the first place"
"Wait wait... This isn't logical at all... gates? like teleportation? For god's sake we are not in a fantasy world" Cleo now started to sound angry
"And the prize goes to... Obviously, we aren't in a fantasy world, but right now, what other explanation is there? We are also going off the words of one random man who seems to know the future, and might I add he has been quite...right"
"Calm down Cleo... So what were you saying about the training facilities?" Kline interrupted.
"Ah, yes...We are training people in martial arts, the man also gave us what seemed like 'scriptures' that would make an average man be equivalent to a tank with enough training. So as people may be drafted or they simply wish to train themselves, we are providing the basic training"
"Would that not shift the power balance? if ordinary civilians and worse yet, criminals... got ahold of this power"
"Well, think of it this way the world's gone to hell anyway, so why would you care about criminals when there are things that could literally rip you to shreds just by blinking. Also, what we supply is a very basic version, certain upper echelons have a better version"
They entered a large room with what seemed like a gathering area passed a desk. There were many other people already standing and talking to each other.
"Anyways I have certain other things to take care of so this is where we part ways and don't worry if you have any other questions just ask the announcer"
"Uhm...Will we ever meet again?" Kristy fidgeted while once again blushing
'This girl is blushing again? Fever? or just puberty?' Kline secretly thought to himself
"Sure...If fate allows it" Charles winked and then put his helmet on while walking away. This caused Kristy to be visibly more flustered and Cleo seemingly annoyed couldn't help but blurt out "How Cringe-worthy"
'No matter how some-what intelligent he may seem, he is still a young boy huh?' Kline started to re-evaluate his opinion of Cleo. Kline not willing to deal with this drama walked towards the desk.
After waiting in line he arrived at the desk,
"Hello I'm Sera, Can I know your first and last name please" Sera was once again another attractive person, she had silver hair and red eyes which was quite rare if not unusual in this place so she bought a lot of stares in her direction.
"Klive Xavier"
"Mhm, and are you here alone or with family members?"
"Alone."
"Do you have any current or past military experience?"
"No"
"Are you a citizen of District 5?"
"Yes"
"And lastly how old are you?"
"22"
"Ah A blunt man, I quite like that, it makes my job easier you see"
"..."
"Right, Right Please place your hand here"
Kline did as he was told and placed his hand on what seemed like a scanner.
Klink!
"Oh? seems the type 1 needle broke?"
"I do apologise for the inconvenience, please move over to this side"
She led Kline around the desk to another scanner.
"Please place your hand on the scanner please"
Kline once again placed his hand on the scanner, his hand was then pricked by a needle sending a sharp pain up his arm.
"..." Of course, he didn't react as this is the least painful pain that had entered his arm.
"Oh...An Irregular, I guess he was right...this job isn't all that boring" Sera whispered to herself
Kline could only pick up parts of what she said.
She ripped off a black tag from her side and placed it around his wrist. She then handed him a bag,
"It's this week's rations, please head towards the crowd, there will be an announcement shortly, also don't forget me now, I hope we meet again"
Kline nodded his head then moved on, what he didn't notice though, was the fact that apart from him, in the crowd of around 60 people, only 2 other people had the black tag as all the rest were white.
"So your name is Kline?"
"You have probably realised by now but my name is Kristy and this here is Cleo nice to meet you"
"Likewise"
"Uhm...Since the world has kinda gone to hell, don't you think it would be best to stick together?"
"No"
"Why? No matter how strong you think you are, there is no way you can survive by yourself" Kristy was persistent
"I don't trust you"
"Wha-what?"
"I don't trust you"
"How dare you? W-WE FOUGHT TOGETHER"
It was also due to the fact he didn't want for Innocent people to die, but by no means would he admit to it.
"Leave him, Kristy, he has made up his mind"
"But, Cleo he-"
"Hello! I am Gerald and I am the announcer and admin for Gathering Room 6" The man that had started speaking on a podium interrupted Kristy's argument.
"Before I begin, I just want to formally say...Welcome to the Safe Haven!"
