Chapter 106 - A Strange Array

As Yun and the glowing, shimmering, Lynmurku watched each other cautiously they both began to feel strange flows of various energies around them. The shimmering golden light shining out of the reddish fur on the beast began to become like an aurora moving around the space, circulating rhythmically with their heartbeats.

Neither of them seemed to know what was happening, and worried that the other was doing something, so they both decided to attack yet again.

Yun leapt forwards suddenly with her club raised and smashed it down towards the Lynmurku's skull.

The Lynmurku leapt forwards and raked it's claws and opened it's jaws toward's Yun's torso.

Yun's club angle shifted, aiming to knock the beast away with her momentum and force.

As the weapon and the teeth and claws came in contact with the other partie's bodies a strange golden light, seemingly condensed from the Aurora that was floating around, intervened. The light separated them like a thin but insanely strong membrane that neither of them could harm in the slightest.

Yun and the Lynmurku both slid back and stopped exactly five meters away from eachother. This was the perfect point of balance in the symbolic system of 9's. Five was the number exactly in the center. No matter which way you write the nine numbers you still end up with 5 in the middle. It has four numbers of the system on either end of it. This is the perfect number for separation as well.

With five meters between them they both looked ready to pounce on the other when a light began to show in the center of them, at three meters between her and the Lynmurku.

Whoosh!

Suddenly the golden light on the ground began to slowly expand and transform from simply a glowing source of light to complex runes and symbols scattered about. The last thing to leave the space was a set of lines. The lines began to flow in sets of three, some broken and some solid, until there were eight total sets of lines arranged around the two of them. Within the new, strange, space they both looked a little panicked.

Yun was prepared to do anything within her power to eliminate this strange Lynmurku and end this weird ritual.

But she couldn't move her body.

She looked at the Lynmurku in front of her and noted that he was also unable to the move a muscle besides his eyes as well. They both looked startled towards each other and wondered what on earth was happening.

Dong!

Dong!

Dong!

Three sounds rang out, overlapping on the one after it, like a large bell. The layers of runes and symbols began to rotate in alternating directions, on turning clockwise, the other turning counter. As the rotating symbols began to accelerate they also changed orientations. Each concentric ring outside the eight straight lines lifted off the ground from one side and formed a ball around them, anchored to the ground at the border of the unmoving symbols.

Each layer that had been larger had mysteriously shrunken, and they now all intersected each other at two locations, forming a strange dome around them of rapidly turning runes.

Dong!

Dong!

Dong!

The strange bell like sound again resounded around them, rattling trees and their branches all around them.

The rapidly spinning runic circles began to spin even more rapidly until they condensed into a single line, no longer containing the strange symbols that had been on each concentric ring.

As all of this continued happening around them the golden light from the beast's body continued to shine out and create more dense auroras within the new space. Everything was trapped here. They were both completely immobilized, but the energy from whatever was happening is certainly not invisible!

Energy began soaring out of the strange Lynmurku as the density of energy in the space began causing it to tremble violently. If they weren't careful they would easily wind up sucked into some dimensional disturbance. While they had been fighting one another previously they decided to postpone the battle in order to survive this strange occurrence.

Before long Yun had noticed something strange about the enemy's body. To her it seemed as if the beast was smaller than before, like having energy taken from it was harming her actual cultivation that Yun was incapable of seeing through.

As the two of them simultaneously struggled mentally to escape this strange formation she turned her head and looked at the shield. Now was the time!

They both struggled so hard to move their bodies and escape this place, but neither could move in the least.

Suddenly the golden light that had been flowing out from the scarlet furred Lynmurku began to rapidly condense back into it's body near the navel, the same place where her people cultivated to form a neidan!

Yun stared in disbelief artthe body of the now small creature as the energy reversed it's course and came crashing into the much smaller Lynmurku.

Dong!

Dong!

Dong!

The bells sounded again, and each time they sounded, a feeling like the soul being grasped began to permeate their bodies.

The light pouring into the Lynmurku also did not cease, nor did it's size increase yet again as the energy poured into it. It's physical body stayed the same size now.
