Chapter 56 - King of the East

There was a ping within Fang's mind as a notification popped up.

[Congratulations]

[You have now become the King of the East]

[This is a title that will allow you to gain various benefits]

[The main power of this title is that it will give you the ability to exude a kingly aura]

Fang read the descriptions with growing despair.

Sighing internally with the dejected face of mourning families, he nodded silently at Gold.

"In addition, I have set up efficient forms of government in each region so that the Empire will continue to function! And you will be able to focus on your cultivation, Master!" Gold spoke brightly.

Fang looked up sharply. Smiling a wide smile, he clasped Gold's shoulders.

'Very good!" he exclaimed.

Relaxing his tense shoulders, he found a calm peace had settled in his soul.

Gold nodded carefully as he observed Fang's expression. Fang smiled back at him.

"Gold. Go back and finish up the small affairs you might have left in the conquered lands. I'll find you once you are done and we'll catch up then," he spoke.

Gold nodded in obedience.

"In addition, make sure you train that technique! It's not just a normal technique, I can tell you that much. Make sure to practice every single day!" Fang advised.

Gold nodded again. Giving Fang a salute, he disappeared into the earth.

Fang sighed.

Cultivating was a very complicated subject that varied by empire and culture. In general, there were organized and unorganized cultivation methods. Organized methods had order and ranking systems. Unorganized, or loose, cultivation differed.

Loose cultivation was essentially just random cultivation that resulted in spontaneous breakthroughs at any given time. Most people chose to cultivate in an organized way as they preferred to have a reasonable goal to work towards. However, loose cultivators did exist...

Fang himself was a loose cultivator. He cultivated haphazardly, but when he cultivated seriously, he was guaranteed a breakthrough. The system helped him to understand all of the other forms of cultivation that other people he ran into might practice.

Fang sighed and floated to the bottom of the mountain. It was always easier when leaving because he didn't have to avoid all the enchantments designed to block others from entering.

Floating slowly, he went towards a town. Although the food was abundant on the mountain, there were still some resources that he had to purchase. After all, there would be a grand feast tonight.

Entering a marketplace, he started to look around for the right ingredients. Seeing a particularly vibrant shop, he headed towards it with gusto.

"Gold coins! 15 gold coins! You'll get everything you could ever want for just 15 gold coins!"

A loud voice called out, exciting Fang. He rushed towards the front of the crowd, jostling through the spectators.

'Amazing! I can get anything I want for just 15 coins! This thing must be amazing!' he thought.

Pushing through the crowd, he emerged at the front. Stumbling slightly, he stood up straight and looked at the miraculous object.

A girl with furry ears stood in front of the crowd, trembling slightly. Thick iron manacles were around her wrists and ankles. Tears glistened at the corners of her eyes and she twitched nervously.

"15 gold coins!" the abrasive voice cried out again.

Fang stared at the gruesome scene in front of him, his heart slowly growing cold.

The girl stared at the roaring crowd and burst into tears. A large, red-faced burly man saw her and snarled.

"Shut up!" he yelled.

Stomping towards her, he picked up his whip.

"Shut up!" he cried again.

He advanced towards the chained girl, who shrank back in fear, with a whip in his hand. The whip was studded with iron diamonds and caked in dried blood. The girl cowered in fear and stumbled away, the tears slowly drying on her face.
