Chapter 2 - A Savage Encounter

Fang slowly crept through the darkness. A black fog obscured his sight and he was unable to see anything. Everything was enshrouded in the terrible black void.

"Hello?" his voice echoed across the cave.

"Hello?" he cried again to no avail.

There was no response. Unsure, Fang crept further into the darkness. Then he paused and ran back out. Caves were dangerous. There was no reason to put his life at risk unnecessarily. And so he waited, staring once more at the strange black stone.

"Hey! Rocky!" he cried.

The stone sputtered to life.

"ROCKY! HOW DARE YOU?!?! I AM A GREAT LEGACY!!! I AM THE LEGENDARY DARK JEWEL OF AGNON!..." It roared.

Fang stood there blankly. Shaking his head, he resolved not to talk to the crazy stone.

"Hey wait...okay wait... wait... no wait...BOY!" the stone called.

Fang turned a disinterested eye towards the rock. Sighing, the rock spoke.

"Alright listen... I was going to take over your mind and soul after you accepted me, but since you didn't...I'm left with one choice..." it drawled.

Fang looked up startled. Mournful howling filled the air. Screaming began to echo from the cave and Zhao Futian ran out, screaming and crying hysterically.

"Zhao, what---" Fang began.

Shoving Fang to the side, Zhao ran towards the village. Fang stumbled and tripped on a root.

"How do you like my banshee wolves, hmmm? I summoned them here by giving out pulses of dark energy. Now if you don't accept me, you will die...you need my power to survive!" the stone cackled.

The howling became louder and Fang heard a distinct pawing come from the cave. A distinct and inhuman growl echoed throughout the cave, scaring away the birds. A rippling fluttering sound was created as the birds left. Fang winced and continued hammering.

Hearing a loud screech and the subsequent scratch of nails on a rock, Fang frowned. He grimaced and grabbed the stone.

"Yes...yes....Hmmm? Wait, no kid that's not...OW OW OW...OW...OW OW OW OW..." the stone's miserable cries rang out over the mountains.

Fang hammered furiously, smashing the stone, sharpening its formidable edges. With a CRASH, he slammed a rock on the stone. He looked around furiously. Spying a long stick of petrified wood, he slammed the stone onto the end of the stick. Creating a makeshift spear, he stood ready at the cave's entrance.

The stone whimpered miserably. Never in its entire life had it been so humiliated.

[First Weapon Created: Dark Forest Spear]

[Power Ranking: 1,010]

[A terrible use of the dark gem of Agnon, the host has created the worst possible creation of a spear using an all-powerful gem]

A series of notifications rang in Fang's mind. Puzzled he looked around. There was no one there.

[Hurry child. I will explain when there is time.]

Another voice rang out in his head.

Fang looked around in a confused daze. Suddenly howls filled the air. Immediately on guard, he waited patiently.

Wolves slowly exited the cave's mouth. They had ghostly-green fur and sharp purple teeth. Growling menacingly they began to surround Fang.

Without waiting, Fang jabbed forward with his spear. A dark and malevolent force thrust forward with him, shredding through a wolf. It howled miserably as gashes spread across its corporeal body. Stumbling forward, it fell into the dust.

Smiling weakly, Fang backed up.

The rest of the wolves growled. They advanced slowly, menace evident in every step. Growling, they flashed their canines.

Fang gulped nervously. Adrenaline coursed through his body and lunged forward, kicking up a cloud of dust.

He turned and immediately ran away. The wolves shook themselves free of the dust, only to realize that the boy was long gone. In his place was a long spear with a dark stone at the tip. Growling, they realized that they had been fooled. However...

The dark aura from this spear was too delicious to resist. They immediately began absorbing the dark aura, without regarding the stones pitiful cries as it was sucked dry!

"Curse you, boy...!" the stone cried miserably as it slowly died from being devoured by a savage pack of banshee wolves.

Fang smiled to himself as he ran through the forest. That stone was really quite despicable.
