Chapter 2 - Meow!

"I'll be waiting for your positive answer", his voice brought her back to reality.

She froze at her place unable to decipher his words.

He took slow steps towards her and held her shoulders tight making her attempts to move,

futile. He was near her ear.

"Meow", he whispered.

'Did he just meow me? Why does his meow sound so familiar? Why does my shoulder feel so damp? Oh no, no no no'

"Aaaaaahhhh", she woke up with a scream realising that it was her cat who had just emptied its intestines on her.

'Relax girl, relax! It was just a dream.' she got up from her bed only to recall that her suggested dream was the actuality of her life now.

Mr. Khan has actually proposed her for marriage for reasons beyond her knowledge. And she was determined to know his reason behind the proposal facade.

**** A week passed by, without any interruption from Mr. Khan****

"Ma'am, there's a present delivered for you." informed her assistant, Roohi.

'A bouquet of fresh Red roses. Ah! What a beautiful present to start my day with.'

"Who's the sender?"

"Ma'am, it's sent by Mr. Khan." Saying which Roohi arranged the bouquet near her boss's chair.

For a week, she kept receiving presents. Flowers, chocolates, dress, jewellery and food from her favourite restaurant. Meanwhile, she kept her investigation on him intact which resulted in failure, everytime.

Just as she finished her weekend work and thought of sleeping the whole evening and night away, she received a call.

"Hello!"

"Hello, Miss Khan."

"May I know who's speaking?"

"I was pretty sure about you recognising my voice."

'I would've disconnected the call if at all I recognised your voice or number', she thought to herself.

"I recognise you now, sir."

"That's good. I think I deserve to know your answer now that I've given you plenty of days to make up your mind."

"Actually, I..."

"When will you be leaving your workplace?"

"Umm, I was about to leave."

"Good, come out soon" he hung up the call.

She looked at her phone for a few seconds and then left her office.
