Two months later
Ha Eun has spent the past 2 months working on keeping the story of her and Chang Wook a hot topic on and off, on social media. She has received numerous calls from Chang Wook's parents but has declined all of them. She suspected she was being monitored by Woo Yeon, so if she answered any calls from Chang Wook or his family, Woo Yeon would know he was alive.
That day after Bong Chol visited her, once Chang Wook was out of the operating room, she smuggled him, and Eun Ha, out of the hospital and transferred them to a hospital in Jeju Island, so he could be with his family while he recovers and Eun Ha could stay away from all this trouble.
She didn't want Eun Ha to spill her plans to Chang Wook accidentally, so she made her promise to act like she couldn't talk because of the shock.
With the help of Mr. Oh, she was able to find information on everyone that was there that fateful night. She steered clear from those who were loyal to Woo Yeon. They won't talk no matter how much money they are offered, so she reached out to the thugs Woo Yeon hired. She managed to get all of them to confess to what happened that night; some answered as soon as they were asked by her guards, while with others, a bit of violence was required.
Although she managed to record their confessions and she made them promise to testify, Woo Yeon will make sure they don't make it to the hearing, so Ha Eun has to work carefully and quietly. If Woo Yeon somehow gets rid of them, all that will be left is a recording of a conversation with the sounds of a gun going off. His lawyers can say the voices could belong to anyone or that it was falsified. With no other evidence, he will leave the court a free man.
There was a knock at Ha Eun's office door, then her new secretary Nam Jin Hyeok, came in. Jin Hyeok is a serious man, in his mid 30's; he has a high IQ and hardly ever speaks. When asked, he voices his opinion and comes up with brilliant solutions, and for the past few years, he has worked closely with Mr. Oh as his personal assistant, but the day after she called Mr. Oh about Chang Wook's accident, he placed Jin Hyeok as her new secretary.
Ha Eun didn't understand why Mr. Oh would place his personal assistant as her own, but it's thanks to him that she managed to keep her work in order and look into what happened that night.
"What is it?" Ha Eun asked him.
"Your husband is out of the hospital; he has started with his rehabilitation," he said. "As for Eun Ha, she has remained silent, as promised. A bit of good news to calm you down."
Ha Eun grinned and gave a slight nod, "Anything new on the case?"
"It's as you suspected. The police have been bribed and are ignoring your husband and Miss Eun Ha's case" Jin Hyeok said, "Also the news on you and your husband have been replaced with other news, once again."
Ha Eun smiled. Woo Yeon sure is making things difficult for her. There was a knock on her door again, and suddenly Chung Woo Yeon walked in with a smile on his face, holding flowers. She hates flowers, but since her adventure with Chang Wook, she's been surrounded by them. She's gotten used to them but seeing Woo Yeon holding them, a sudden urge to throw them on the ground and step on them fell upon her.
"I hope I'm not interrupting anything," Woo Yeon said.
Ha Eun couldn't help but grin. The man that almost killed her husband was standing in her office. He indeed has no shame.
"Give us a minute, will you?" Woo Yeon said as he patted Jin Hyeok on the shoulder.
Rather than leave the room, Jin Hyeok removed Woo Yeon's hand from his shoulder and said, "I listen to the Madame's orders, not yours."
The two of them looked at each other; Jin Hyeok, with a serious expression, while Woo Yeon looked angry. "Why you…" before Woo Yeon could finish what he was going to say, Ha Eun interjected.
"Enough," Ha Eun said, then she looked at Jin Hyeok. "Are we good on time?" she asked him. Jin Hyeok knew she had no meetings scheduled for today, so he acted as if he was looking at the schedule and then looked back at her.
"You still have 5 minutes" Jin Hyeok bowed and walked out.
"You heard my secretary. I have to arrive at the meeting early to greet the members of the board. Make it quick." Ha Eun told Woo Yeon.
Woo Yeon felt disrespected, but he knew it would be difficult to get Ha Eun to admit her feelings for him after they'd been separated for so long, but he was a patient man.
"I wanted to know if you were free tonight for some dinner," Woo Yeon said. He actually wanted to invite her to lunch, but it seemed she was busy. He made his secretary look into her schedule and said she had nothing for today. He will have to scold his secretary later, "I know the chef of a really nice restaurant. They have a wide variety of wine to taste from." Woo Yeon looked at her with hopeful eyes. No one could believe a man with such attractive facial features and a kind smile would be a psychopath.
"I already made plans to eat with Mr. Oh tonight," Ha Eun told him. Of course, she had no such plans.
Woo Yeon was disappointed, but it was nice to see her getting along with her father, but she still called him Mr. Oh. Since he could not have dinner with her, he wondered about Eun Ha. She survived that night. His sources say she was moved to a hospital in Gangnam and is mute, but to make sure, he'll ask Ha Eun; she has no reason to lie to him.
"Just out of curiosity…um…the girl you've been taking care of," Woo Yeon said. "I heard she can't talk. How is her condition?"
Woo Yeon needed to find a way to make sure that little girl kept quiet. Maybe once he and Ha Eun get married, he could send her to America. Tell Ha Eun she'll be getting professional help to treat her trauma and later frame her for killing a nurse. Everyone thinking she is too dangerous will make sure she spends the rest of her life in a mental hospital. Even if Eun Ha manages to talk again, no one will believe her, and Ha Eun will be too preoccupied taking care of our child that she will quickly forget about Eun Ha.
He thought his plan was perfect, but Ha Eun was onto him; she knew he wanted to know about Eun Ha's condition because he wanted to get rid of her. She also ensured Woo Yeon would get false information about where she is and that she can't speak, "The doctor said she might never talk again. Whatever happened to her that night caused such emotional distress that she can't talk."
Woo Yeon looked at Ha Eun with a worried expression. She knew he was acting. "I know specialists from America that have dealt with cases like hers. If you'd like, I can give them a call, and Eun Ha would be on the next plane out of here to get treatment."
Ha Eun wanted to laugh. So, that's what he was thinking. Send Eun Ha away, and if one word escaped her lips, he'd call someone to get rid of her. Ha Eun would learn of Eun Ha's demise too late; even if she knew Woo Yeon did it, there would be no evidence.
Woo Yeon looked at the flowers he was holding, "I quickly thought of you when I saw them." He was about to hand them over to Ha Eun when her secretary suddenly opened the door.
"Madame, it is time," Ji Hyeok said.
Ha Eun looked at Ji Hyeok and answered, "Yes" she then looked at Woo Yeon, "I'll be leaving now. You know where the door is." She walked past Woo Yeon and left the room.
Once outside the office, she whispered to Jin Hyeok, "Forget court. Get ready to take over Chung Group."
"Yes, madame," Jin Hyeok answered.
