Chapter 2 - Strange

"Hello! My name is Aka Minagi. Nice to meet ya all. Hope to get along with everyone!" The new transfer student bowed after introducing himself. Most of the girls in the class were already head over heels for Aka just for his looks, charms and elegance. They didn't know what this mere high schooler was hiding behind his smile and what his real intention of transferring into The Fuuka Academy was. " OK, your seat is gonna be in between Meko and Yuto. At the last, over there" the homeroom teacher said pointing to a blank seat. As he made his way towards his seat, he noticed the girl named Meko and recongnisd her instantly as the girl who had saved him the previous day. " Huh!?" He thought out loud making the girl turn and see him. 'Crap ! If I'm going to assassinate the principal, I'll have to kill this girl first! She already knows enough about me...' he thought in panic... " You're that girl !!" He spoke in order to just be sure that he wasn't mistaking someone for someone else. "Hey!! Doing good?" the girl spoke in a friendly manner. 'What the....?' Minagi thought completely dumbfounded. "Uhm... yeah, good" he finally managed to speak. The whole class started whispering among themselves at the unexpected turn of events. However, Minagi was now utterly confused. Even if it's not the girl who had saved him, why would she be speaking in such a manner as if she has known him for quite some time? "OK class, please settle down" the homeroom teacher finally spoke. Soon the gossiping among the students ceased and Minagi was in his seat. Everything went on calmly but the minds of each and every student was restless. 'Acting like that on the first day of school..... his doomsday is gonna start.... I should better keep my distance from him.' Thought Meko. While Aka sat still trying to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and the whole class kept thinking about what all that was about.

"Ok, that's it for today" the geography teacher said and left the class, thus bringing the first period of the day to an end. Immediately a huge swarm of girls came and surrounded Minagi. "Hey, where did you come from?" "Are you gonna stay at the dorm?" "I am Sakura. Let's be friends from now on" all the girls kept babbling on and on. "Hey girls, you should give it a rest. He just transferred in, give him some space! You can all come to him later one by one!" The guy sitting beside Minagi spoke. "That's true! Sorry if we bothered you too much" Sakura said apologetically, and soon the crowd cleared away, except one girl who stayed back. "So, Aka. Tell us, how do you know Meko?" She whispered. Not knowing what to tell, he replied saying that she had once helped him when they were little and complete strangers. "Even now, I am grateful of her. Though today is probably the first time we heard each other's names!" He laughed nervously. "Hmmm" and the girl walked away towards her seat. "Hey, next is the English class. Do you have a book? I can share mine if you want..." the guy finally spoke. "And you are?" Minagi asked "Oh, I'm Yuto Kanzaki. Nice to meet you. So?" He replied. "Yeah, nice to meet ya too. Thanks it would be a great help!"

"Okay class, I will be giving back your creative test sheets you took the other day." The English teacher, Yuuri spoke after the class had settled down. She started calling out names "Sugino" "hai" said a boy standing up with his head held high. "See Meko? You are of no use" he spoke. Though all sorts of emotions were playing around inside her heart, Meko managed to keep quiet, something which she has mastered over the past four years. "I like your confidence Sugino, but however, you must listen to the whole thing before saying anything. Both you and miss Ichimatsu have come first in class. So, it's a draw. Well done miss Ichimatsu!" Mrs Yuuri praised. With that, a big grin spread across Ichimatsu's face as she got up to receive her test papers. "What? That can't be! She must have cheated. There's no way that girl can come first!" Sugino panicked and immediately the glow from Meko's eyes disappeared. "Hey Yuto, what's going on?" Minagi whispered to Yuto. "Well..., Sugino is the topper of our class. He is really popular around here due to his grades. Whereas, Ichimatsu is the most discriminated girl in this school. She is popular too, but in a negative way. She is beautiful and all, but she lacks girlish manners in herself, and is weird. At least that's what the others think of her. Though there are many like her, for some reason, she is the only one treated as an outcast. Everyone goes around asking people to keep away from her. I love her though. For the past few months, she started working hard..., specially in the subject English. Thus, an undeclared war is going on between her and Sugino." Yuto explained. 'So this guy is in love with her? Lame. Anyways, I can never get distracted. I should just play the nice guy and do my job' Aka thought to himself. Meko was pale and her smile had vanished completely. "Sugino!" Yuuri-san yelled. "Now what? Our dear little Princess Ichimatsu is gonna show some tears and try to win our sympathy?" "What a loser!!" "Right.... there's no way she can come first" everyone started commenting. "Silence! It's enough. You think that I'm a fool to not be able to recongise who cheated and who didn't...." "It's fine ma'am" Meko cut her teacher off before she could say anything more. "But...." Yuuri-san trailed off but Meko cut her out again by mouthing the word please to her teacher. She was wearing her fake smile again. "Running away?" Sugino smirked with his arms crossed over his chest, beaming with pride at his victory in being able to see the defeated look on his foe. But he was simply looking down at her. Hardly did he knew what she was capable of. With an evil smirk on her face, Meko started "Is that's what you think? Perhaps you are the one running away. Running away from the fact that I came first along with you. I just realised that and so, I asked her to stop yelling at your already pitiful self. I've already won you see... there was no need for anyone to back me up." With those words, a hush fell over the whole class.
