"She's been in that room for days Darwin. Go talk to her!" Says Owen, Darwin's brother.
"No, she'll be fine. I'm sure she'll come out soon." Darwin assures.
"That's what you said two days ago. Besides, whats wrong with her anyways?" Owen asks, still confused about why the hell this stranger is even here.
"She's just scared. This is a new environment for her."
"Right. Well, she has to eat something doesn't she? I'm going to bring her some food. And I'm sure she needs some bandages for her wounds."
"No. I'll do it okay?"
"Darwin, no. She knows you as the girl who tackled her and almost killed her. Maybe she'll be more comfortable with someone new."
"Fine."
Owen walks out of the living room and opens the medical cabinet in the bathroom. He grabs some aspirin and bandages with some disinfectant. He puts the supplies in his pocket and heads to the kitchen and makes a ham sandwich. He grabs the plate with a glass of water and heads for her room.
Owen quietly opens her door and sets the plate on the dresser beside him. Six is laying on the guest bed facing the wall, curled up in a ball. He walks slowly over to the bed.
"Hey uh- are you awake? I just want to help clean you up a bit." Owen says cautiously.
Six gives no response.
"Hey, don't worry. I'm not going to hurt you." He tries once more to get her to respond.
A long silence hangs in the air. Owen turns to leave and a small voice come from behind him.
"Promise?" Six muffles.
"I promise." Owen says, surprised she spoke.
Six sits up and looks down, avoiding eye contact with Owen. He walks over and sits next to her. Six moves over a little.
"You have a pretty bad cut on your cheek." Owen says concerned.
Six reaches up to her face and winces.
"I want to help you clean that up, is that okay?"
Six nods and pulls her hand away from the cut. Owen pulls the cleaning supplies out of his pocket and pours a small amount of disinfectant on a cotton ball.
"This won't hurt. But it may ache a bit when I dab it. But I need you to stay still." Owen says moving closer.
Six looks down and nods, "okay."
Owen grabs her face gently with his right hand and brings his left hand to the cut and brushes the cotton ball gently across it. Six flinches and pulls away.
"It's okay, it's okay." Owen says.
He moves closer once more and brushes the cotton ball across the cut again. He does that until the cut looks some what clean. He grabs a bandage and some ointment and dabs some on her cut and sticks the bandage on her face. Six looks at him, and looks down. A moment passes and Owen pulls his hand away from her face and looks down.
"Well, that's done!" Owen says and gets off the bed and heads to the door.
"I brought in some food and water, and if you want to talk about what happened to you, you're free to come out if you'd like." Owen says and scratches his head awkwardly, and leaves the room.
Darwin is sitting on the couch, scrolling on her phone.
"Have fun?" She said sarcastically.
"If awkward is called fun, then yes. She's obviously scared. You must have scared her bad." Owen says half joking.
"Sorry. I'm just naturally terrifying." Darwin says with a smirk.
"She let me clean her cut and bandage it. That's a start."
"Yep."
"Are you okay?"
"I'm just-" Darwin stops, and looks behind Owen, frowning. Her eyes widen. "Owen, look."
He turns around and sees six standing behind him nervously in the doorway.
"I- I wanted to talk..." she said.
