Chapter 67 - the King's mother doesn't know when to quit

Kaida sat on a rocking chair in the nursey next to her and Huli's chamber. The nursey was large and was painted in light colors. There were three cribs in the room and next to each crib a cupboard for their clothes and baby items.

The wall facing south contained a painting of the south. The tribe where Kaida was born was painted on the wall and a piece of the forest. It was painted so beautifully and realistically that Kaida got homesick every time she looked at it.

The other wall contained a painting from the north. The palace where Huli grew up was painted on it and the beautiful garden around it. Kaida always looked at it with admiration because she thought it was a beautiful painting.

She rubbed her belly , a week from then and then she will be eight months. Her aunt Rana was still held up in the South, so she had sent Koto. He was even more careful than Tatsu and Jaya, and she had to take bed rest from him.

The three healers agreed that Kaida already had signs that she could give birth at any time. Her belly became hard and sometimes she suffered from severe pains in her belly, which sometimes persisted for hours.

They were surprised that she hadn't given birth yet, because every time they thought it was time, but it wasn't. And that was a good thing because Rana was not there. And they really needed her.

Koto knew what the procedure was. But he had never done it, plus he was a man. Men were not allowed in the room when a woman was giving birth.

Kaida sighs as she looks out the window. She wondered how Kueng and Chen were doing. It was now three weeks since she found them. But since then there had been no contact. It was clear that Chen was with Kueng because Kaida could no longer determine Chen's location.

Kaida sighed again, everything made her so tired. Huli who had not even attempted to present a few names to her. He always gave the answer that he would decide if he had seen them.

Haya who bothered her every day about the fact that Kaida did not respect their traditions. The worries she had about giving birth.

Kaida took another deep breath and stood up. She was still looking out the window and just wanted to walk towards the door, when it suddenly flew open.

"I apologize your highness for disturbing you so absurdly, but I am coming with important news. It's about the king's mother. "

Kaida looked a bit confused at her

"get up and speak"

The maid got up and quickly said

"she has made a nursery in the north wing of the palace where she is staying and I was just told that she has now invited a few nursing women to hire"

Kaida frowned

"and do you know the reason for this"

The Maid shook her head

"no your highness, the rumors are going around that the king's mother intends to take care of the children right after you birth."

Kaida felt the anger boiling up and she rushed out of the nursery. She really had enough of Haya this time. Haya had been harassing Her for days and throwing insulting comments at her.

Jaya had told her to ignore Haya because she noticed that every time Haya and Kaida were in contact, kaida often suffered from pain and her belly became too hard. The stress was not good for her and the babies.

The maid running after her quickly showed her the way to the king's mother. Kaida walked furiously past the entrance of the north wing of the palace.

The guards wanted to say something, but Kaida had no eye for them and walked past them without mercy.

"Your highness, she is in that chamber"

Kaida furiously opened the doors of the chamber where Haya was sitting and stepped inside. Everyone in the room looked startled at the door opening.

"What is the meaning of this Kaida!"

Haya got upset and walked towards her. She was furious because Kaida had the guts to enter her west wing and behave like that. Especially now that she was in an important meeting with the nursing women she was questioning.

Before she could approach Kaida, a gust of wind of high temperature flew through the chamber. The gust of wind came as a surprise to Haya, which caused her to be pushed back.

"Aren't you tired of everything, Haya? Because I tell you honestly I'm tired of it now. I give you two options or you leave yourself or I help you with leaving "

Haya was first perplexed by the appearance of Kaida. She had an air of warmth around her, making it look like she was on fire. She had a fierce look in her eyes, which showed no mercy. Plus the power and might she gave off made it look like everyone in the room compared to Kaida was no more than ants under her feet.

Haya raised he head up again and grinned

"as long as my son does not send me away, I will not leave. I think it is very rude that you rush in here while I have invited the best nursing women here. Three of these women will raise the royal children the first year of their life "

Kaida turned to the nursing women and in an icy tone, she said,

"your presence is not necessary. No one but the king and I myself will raise our children. Leave Now! "

The nursing women got up in shock and hurried out of the room. The way Kaida had looked at it caused shivers to run down their backs. The tone in her voice was so frightening that the women were shaking. She didn't need to tell them twice to leave.

Haya turned and looked even more angry at Kaida.

"I don't understand you ungrateful child. Do you seriously think that you will be able to raise a child. You are still a child yourself and it is customary in the foxes tribe that the children are raised by a nursing women during the first year of their life. I did not raise my children the first year of their life either "

Kaida looked down at Haya

"Then you all shouldn't have let this child marry if I wasn't responsible enough. And King's mother we two are not the same people, that you were not able to raise your children does not mean that I am also not able to raise them"

"Where do you get the guts to look down on me! You have absolutely no respect for our traditions! "

Kaida walked past her

" is that so? then so be it! I have had enough of your nonsense. Since you refuse to leave by yourself, I would do the honor of helping you. If I were you, I would pack as many of your properties as possible in the coming hour that you definitely want to have with you"

Haya heard from Kaida's voice that she was serious and panicked. she felt that if she let kaida leave the room it would have serious consequences for her. But what could she do to save time?

The moment Kaida passed her, she suddenly grabbed Kaida's wrist and pulled.

"I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying here!"

Kaida looked annoyed at Haya's hand and then in her eyes and tried to pull her hand loose.

"I see that you have really become crazy now, let me go! You have made your choice yourself! "

The two were already struggling for a few minutes and neither of them wanted to take a step back. Kaida had been feeling her stomach tighting for some time, and the pain was getting worse by the minute.

She did not realize that she was in labor due to the fact that she had these hellish pains for weeks. The efforts she had made now were the last trigger she needed. She felt that she was weaker and the pain now took over.

"Haya i will say this for the last time..."

Kaida put the last bit of strength she had in pulling back her hand.

"LET ME GO NOW!"

Haya came back to her senses and was startled by her own behavior. What am I doing, she thought to herself. She looked at Kaida and saw that she did not look good. She was sweating and her face was pale.

It seemed like she was in a lot of pain and struggling to stand. Out of shock, she immediately released her wrist.

Because Haya immediately let go of Kaida her hand, the force that Kaida had put in pulling her hand back made her lose her balance.

Kaida stepped away and stumbled. Haya was not fast enough to catch her, so Kaida fell to the floor on her stomach.

The moment Kaida fell to the floor, her face twisted in pain and she felt something warm running down her legs. Her belly was very hard and the tightening hurt incredibly.

"What is that warmth im feeling at my legs?"

The maid waiting for Kaida outside the door heard the bang and knocked quickly on the door.

"Your highness and king's mother are all well in there. I ask permission to come in "

Haya looked at Kaida, who was visibly lying on the floor in pain. And did not know what to do. She dropped to her knees and sat down next to Kaida.

Kaida looked at her with murderous eyes and wanted to say something, but  it took her a lot of effort to absorb the pain.

"This was not my intention, I am so sorry! I dont know what came over me. I'm going to try to turn you around so that you won't lie on your stomach anymore. "

The murderous look was still present in Kaida's eyes, but she did allow Haya to help her. When Haya turned her around, she immediately saw what it was that ran along Kaida's legs. She was relieved when she saw that it was not blood but that her membranes were broken.

"Your membranes are .."

Kaida pushed Haya away and looked at her even more murderously than before

"Let me see if you got the guts to finish speaking! Why didn't you immediately call for help! You know how important it is that I am immediately assisted by a healer when im going into labor. If something happens to my children, you will be the first to follow them! "

Haya looked at Kaida in tears and could not say anything. Although Kaida now looked weak and helpless, her tone and words were clear and a serious promise.

She just wanted to call in the maid when the door flew open and Jaya and Kyona walked in.

Kaida looked at Haya

"don't bother anymore, I immediately asked their dragons to inform their mistresses"

Jaya quickly approached Kaida and felt her wrist, then she felt her forehead and checked her belly. She noticed the pool of water and frowned.

Kyona spoke with the maid

"how long ago was it that you asked permission to enter?"

The maid looked nervously at the floor

"my lady certainly twenty to thirty minutes"

Kyona walked quickly to Kaida and stroked her hair that was wet from her sweat

"big sister, can you describe to us how strong the pain is on a scale of one to ten?"

Kaida looked blurryly at Kyona.

"I don't know, I've never felt this pain. I think a 5 now, but if my stomach tightens it is definitely an 8 "

Meanwhile, more maids had arrived and Jaya was busy preparing the stretcher on which Kaida could lie.

"Big sister how often does your stomach tightens , is it consecutively or is there some time in between? And I would like to know what happened! "

While Kaida was helped on the stretcher, She answered Kyona's questions

"there is quite some time in between, and I fell on my stomach"

When they heard that Kaida had fallen on her stomach, everyone in the room looked contemptuously at Haya, who was still sitting hopelessly on her knees on the floor and kept mumbling.

" I did not mean to do it "
